If that person didn't have the mentats addiction my character had, it's not related to that.

I've noticed when I bought a mercenary (Though the prices are still quite insane) to test out how much they have improved in general I have noticed that a mercenary I have bought preveiously e.g. the last classic gunmen merc at bottom of list, has 140 hp instead of her usual 120 hp. I'm not complaining, but I just want something to work with here, is she my level ? I have 135 hp and she has 140 hp meaning she is possibly my level (21) and I wanted to know before I start having her grind up her level if its even worth doing since she is possibly lvl 21 already?
Oh and i noticed something really strange, she had 123/140 hp when i bought her and i had to First Aid her. Any ideas about that?This is a bug, will be fixed in the next update.

The number of max tamable Brahmin was changed in the last update, I think now you can have 8 brahmin with 8 charisma. :)
And yes you can still join other player groups. Mercs and slaves are a different issue, with 8 charisma the max number of Mercs/Slaves is (don't know it correctly) 3.

How does VATS work? do certain guns and items not have vats? melee as well? how come sometimes characters have it and sometimes characters don't..i'm assuming that it's based on skill level and SPECIAL...if that's the case...what does getting Vats option depend on?
First, if you have Fast Shot, aimed shots are not available on any weapons. "Bursting" weapons can not do aimed shots, like a Minigun, Flamer, etc. Melee weapons do have the ability.

It is your Luck that affects it the most. Skill just affects your accuracy, but that 95% leaves a 5% for a miss and therefore always the chance for a critical miss, since you have 1 Luck. Also, your Strength affects it if you are using a weapon that requires more than the Strength you have. E.g. that Tommy Gun you have requires 6 strength, but if you only have 4 that leaves a lot of way for a critical failure.Well that helps, plus I was using Tommy gun only because it was a gun i was given for free, and the only gun in ncr vendors where there was a plentifulish amount of ammo.

Alright, probably a less stupid question- Mitch at the Hub general store has shovels. I want to buy one so I can give it to Dan for that miniquest and still have one to shovel with. It's only worth $1; I tried to trade a piece of meat jerky ($5) for the shovel and four caps. Mitch accepted the trade, took the jerky, gave me the caps, but I got no shovel. I traded again, one cap for the shovel, lost the cap, and again, no shovel. Do I have to get rid of mine first or something? I'm extremely reluctant to do so without being certain I'll be able to get another.Because you holding a shovel in your main hand / off-hand, and it stack in one slot. There is no 'ban' in bartering it is simply a bug, not that I have even had this bug unless you are talking about how the cursor doesn't change after the barter window closes, so you have to reclick somewhere to change your cursor or else it doesn't do anything.OK thanks. Hello, I've got a question. Is the quest "Get brahmin hides for Balthas" still repeatable? I did it once together with the jerky delivery quest and found that once I got back to Modoc I could only repeat the jerky quest but not the quest by Balthas. If it is repeatable, is there some sort of invisible quest timer I should keep track of?Before wipe CD on this quest was 4 real life hours. So try to repeat this quest in 4 hours after you complete it.

Like NCR Ragners did before till thier FoV "bugged" (really fixed for guards), so now it's deactivated. Because with great NPC FoV NCR Rangers saw slavers on bazaar, ran throught all town from workbrench and then shoot poor guy. But BoS should still kill slavers on sight, probably.

Dunno for grenades, but One-Handed only provides bonus to To-Hit, so for grenades it is not really useful.
My faction has 7 mercs at the entrance positioned with LSWs. They are all set to "Kill anyone not a member (or Friend) of the faction". Some of the mercs are owned by me, some of them another player. If my merc accidentally bursts the other member's merc while aiming for another player, will that merc go berserk and try to fight my merc? You can use Drugs to temporarily increase your SPECIAL stats for getting a Profession. Use the drug right before you talk to them before it wears off.Cus half my gang are crafters so I'm with half the time escorting them around and I pick up a few things I might need if I make a crafter alt.

In essence, the lower bound for random is (10+LK)% of the skill value. Having a First Aid Kit or Field Medic Kit in the active slot increase the skill by 25 or 50 percent points respectively and can increase it above 300%.

If you look around, you'll find some NPCs that'll barter with you even with only 1 CH. Off the top of my head, there's Dr. Jubilee in NCR, the caravans that you come across in the wastes, and almost all the merchant NPCs in Gecko. None in the Hub, as far as I know. However, I was once able to trade for Mentats with the merchant NPC ghoul just before the junkyard in Gecko, so you can get a temporary CH boost if you want by getting yourself those.

I'm planning on buying a gang base for me and my brother (and all of our alts to make crafting easier). I was just wondering if bases can be attacked by other gangs since the wiki specifies that certain bases are easier to defend than others.
No, they can't be attacked, but you might still want to set up Mercenaries in case anyone tries to "tent-tag" you. Also, you need more than two people to start a faction base.

There is one other way, and that is to kill Khan Raiders in the actual northern base - not just in random encounters, those don't work. I'm pretty sure it is a bug that killing Khan Raiders in random encounters doesn't raise your Rep.
I almost allways use LK 3 or 4 chars and they are all crafters. In my experience it might influence repair, but they all work fine. As much as I know you don't want to use complex weaponry with small luck: already destroyed one improved flamer and a lot of simple weaponry because of it. That's my experience.

I have an unarmed fighter with the Living Anatomy perk. It is my understanding that this perk is supposed to add 5 damage to an attack after all other damage calculations are considered. Does this include damage reduction?
I ask because occasionally, against Floaters, Centaurs and Aliens in particular, I can hit for no damage, sometimes even "critically hit for no damage." If Living Anatomy is supposed to add 5 damage per attack after all things considered, then I think this may be a bug.
Unless, of course, Floaters, Centaurs and Aliens are not considered "living creatures."

I remember that one of my first chars had quite high Outdorsman skill, and first during character development I started getting messages that I met "wastelander", then when I raised the skill a little more I started getting messages with the exact nickname of a player in encounter.

a question abut a build at the moment, what would you guys suggest as a gunslinger style build (note, only pistols, no heavy shit)
From what I can tell a gunslinger will need:
-Finesse and 10 lck, otherwise the shit he shoots with ain't gonna do any damage.
-Not to mention 3x more crits as well as better crits.
-3-4 strength to use the weapons properly,
-no small frame crap at all, waste of carry weight, not planning on going lower than 45 Kgs, otherwise he's even more useless.
-BRoF, ofc, that is fucking deadly when using a pistol classed weapon.
-Perception, that's the hard bit, maybe 5, 6, or even 10 with sharpshooter so he can see his range from behind as well.

Well, to be a slaver, you don't need any charisma, but it will be useless to become a slaver if you can't own any slave, so...or some mentos.
And to become a raider, I think you need to be able to talk to NPCs, to obtain quests, so you need at least 3 Charisma.

I am aware you need a hatchet, or the other one-use axe. I have made 12 of these.
But I have not found a tree that shows the 'hand' icon. The ones around town have leaves and look alive, but do not work. I have zoned into about 20 different wasteland areas and every tree looks dead and you do not get the 'hand' icon. I have tried 8 different square areas around NCR.
Is the problem just the wasteland location?
I have yet to earn enough caps for a tent, so I don't really want to be trekking miles across the wasteland, just for a few pieces of wood.
