You don't make donations for developers, but for yourself and other players. I keep repeating this over and over again in my last 3 or 4 posts but you seem to not believe it :>
But that's obvious, what's to believe-or-not here? I'm quite far from "zomfg i donated gimme APA nao!", as well as from "zomfg devz buying drugz'n'whorez but make no wipe!!111". If I have fun, I donate. Fine as it is, isn't it?

I'm afraid that it's not up to you to decide for them whether their work makes sense or not.
Who I am to decide about anything concerning 2238's development? I'm just wondering about reasons they do this - for teh lulz? for satisfaction? to learn something? because they can?

I find it funny how people can't understand that it's a free game and developers don't get any $$$ from it and instead of your whines, crying, neverending demands, threats "i will leave this game zomg111!!!" (well there was even some ULTIMATUM from russian players, rotfl) you should sometimes have just a nice, warm cup of stfu  ;) it's disappointing, yes it's sad, but it's true.
Russian "ultimatum" destroyed the Universe, true, true :>

Well said Kilgore, youre totally right about this matter.
If I may add, the game is still in development, when the game is "ready", devs will surely try to attract more players by various means.

The game is open beta for a reason. :P

Most (new) players are like "The fuck? This is broken, add safespots or I leave", not even wanting to find an alternative. People (on the internet) forget about this game being Fallout - Remeber that raider you killed with your avenger minigun in that random encounter? Well, this is Fallout Online, you are the raider. You shoot people, people shoot you. If not, it's just a matter of time. The biggest problem with new players is that they have never played Fallout games (or Fallout 3 only which is absolutely fucked) and torrented Fallout 2 just to play this MMO that they think is super-duper-awesome-cool, and then go around like "The fuck? I need to use action points to move in turn based? What kind of crap game is this?". It's not the devs fault. The devs are doing an extremely good job with this (assuming it's still beta version) game. It's just the majority of players which are like most of the internet warriors *cough*morons*cough*.

I still can be reached over e-mail if you somehow need anything from me. Don't see a reason why you would, but if you do, e-mail remains the safest bet, as I do not visit this forum reliably anymore.

What a fucking mess... If any of this was a bitmap image format, Prosper would be proud of you. Now, some things really piss me off.

First of all, get it once and for all - this game is free. There are no clients, no purchases, no hiring and no contracts. If you're failing to realise that, then gtfo this board and better not show anywhere on internet, or anywhere else, for that matter, because all you're gonna do is cause permanent brain damage for normal people.

Second: the game is free. If you gave donation, cool. If not, great. I couldn't give less fuck. You don't give anything to us, developers, because we develop the game for free. We do it, because we think the online Fallout is a unique project that deserves our support and it's our way to express us and/or our creations in a form of a computer game. Giving donation just keep the Paris running, so that you can play. No donations - no play. I can play with my friends on my PC, just fire up the server and go, go ,go. But if you don't give donations, you're the one who won't be playing. Why some of you try to implicate that you pay for something - for ANYTHING - in regard to the development by giving donations? You are donating in order to keep the server running, you're not donating to the development/team/someone special.

Third, and last - you got it - the game is free. We'll keep developing it and finding ways to keep the server going along as long as we can, but don't expect us to work like anyone hired us. We work for free, we provide this game for free. Someone putting devs under pressure "just because she/he has donated and wants to see a wipe" has counter-productive effects and will most probably postpone the development or (really bad situation, but quite possible) start argue in the dev team. I, for one, would like to see my teammates relaxed and working within their creativity window; on the other hand I certainly wouldn't like seeing them riled up for reading a bad post on forum about the game not being wiped for XYZ months and donations.

Now, a few words about the "wipe very soon". Since we have had wipe 16 months ago, most of the players have left the game or lost interest in the running version of 2238. We decided to post "wipe will be very soon", so that anyone who's still interested in the game may prepare for the upcoming wipe. This means contacting friends, arranging faction(s) and goals, whatever. The end of my blogpost indicates this clearly, and if you didn't get this right away, then drop by your local library and don't get back here until reading half of the content there. The wipe will be very soon, since most of the features we have planned for it already are implemented, now we try to polish the game up before the release. We don't know how long this may take, but **I personally hope** we can count the time in weeks or (the überbest scenario) in days.

Thank you for your attention and for not being an a......e while posting after this post.

VERY FUNNY i was reading the last pages and i was mad and i wanted to post something like "devs dont answer this gibberish because they simply dont give a fuck, game is free end of discussion" and Lisac just made it epic.
My personal opinion: i think those community elephants think so much.

Take your time.

A lot of new people seem to have joined in the last few months.

Let them learn the ropes with the old-timers mostly waiting for wipe.

Well, I'm also a developer and I also work for free. And I clearly understand this game is free, as my work is also free. But if you decide to open the project to the public and give it to people, that create a community of players, you have to be open to their expectations and fulfill them as fast as you can, because you no longer do it only for yourselves, but for people who use your "product".

And for me, the best reward is knowing that people enjoy my work and are using it, otherwise there's no point doing it as I could take time to widen my own knowledge in other fields or spend more time earning money or having fun with family. If you really want to do it only for yourselves then close down the forums and make project closed. But as I said, since the moment you went with it to the public and let people use it, creating a community, you no longer do it for yourselves, but for people/community that uses it.

And the worst thing that can happen to an indie project is loosing player/userbase, and I'm suprised you don't know it yet.

I'm aware that it's hard to estabilish any deadlines with projects like that, but it's always a good idea to set up at least a basic development plan, and I can say from my very own experience that it's way better to introduce smaller updates but more often, because this keeps users hooked up to the project and they know that stuff is being worked on all the time, than release one big update once a year or even less. Also the more info from devs about current development status the better. You've got blog and you hardly use it to inform players what's going on right now, what you plan to introduce after wipe and so on. This keeps players eager to play and wait for upcoming release.

A good idea is to set a fixed shedule for wipes and seperate them from updates development process. This also will keep players longer. Right now I made few characters to max level and there's no point in playing this game further with lack of people and having everything achieved. (And it took me no more than 2 months maybe, playing only during few weekends.. so there is in my opinion way too big timespan between updates, 2 moths of playing, 10 months of waiting, and server is dead very soon because of that, and you could just shut it down, prepare next wipe, and switch it on again for 2 months, waiting for people to get bored, you would save money you spent paying the server for whole year)
