If cars are lockpickable they are useless. If it turns out that there will be hundreds of cars all over the place then its a simple matter to increase the cost of running them, to reduce the numbers.
Ow man... doesn't it sound like the previous strategy to controlling of how much high end gear is in game?

No, its different. This is an upkeep, rather than initial cost.

Closest analogy would be ammo cost/det rate of each weapon.

Well also consider that it wouldn't decrease the demand for the cars, unless there are any other reasonable ways of travel... (walking is not reasonable, and train is limited).

Just make the cars discoverable somehow and lockpicable, and it would be whole lot more funny :)

Apparently cars are lockpickable, but cars are not discoverable - it was changed and I hadnt found out.

So wasteland safe, cities are empty of cars.

but is stuff that is left on the map with the car still there til you move the car? like an extra storage map like the tent

and can you own and see multiple cars on the map?

Ok so it is now CONFIRMED that cars left on map for whatever reason, are not discoverable.  They are pickable.  This makes them a MUCH more viable means of transportation!  Though as asked just a few posts up, for how long are they visible, and does stuff left on the ground near them likewise remain.  There was a previous post by Surf 'I think' that said they stayed there til they were either found [now confirmed not possible] or are returned to.

im a beta tester so i got to write this. cars ARE discoverable ... for the first 10 minutes, after that encounter is closed, ah and another thing if u have 20 lockpick u can still steal a car all u need is time, u can also stay there and w8 for the driver

also, just question, once you do have a car on a square, how long until the encounter containing the car gets removed from the WM altogether because if there isn't a time limit I might get a car for the want of getting an own personal vault sometime for the aesthetics, and for the containers.
