FIXES:
- Quest "Stranded Rust" can be finished now. This didn't worked before, due to dialog bug.
- Quest "A Man's Job" dialog fix (http://fodev.net/forum/index.php?topic=3107.0).
- Lower level ammo comes in batches of 50.
- Heater chamber moved to level 2 and flamer removed from items required, price fix to flame fuel mk II.
- Fixed overzealous Lost Hills guards.
- Weight of Iron Ore (and HQ), Minerals (and HQ), Uranium Ore, Wood and Scorpion Tails reduced.
- Timeout fixes here and there.

FEATURES:
- Junktown mining site has opened.

CHANGES (WIP):
- Configurable onscreen timeout display (enabled by default): http://fo2238.fodev.net/wiki/Timeouts
- Diminishing killing xp disabled.
- Disbanding party deletes critters instead of turning them into "travellers"
- Several map updates.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
- Run the Updater for the new faction005.dat file.

IMPORTANT:
- We temporary changed the server port to 4000. Open the config tool and switch the port in the "Net"-tab to 4000.

Omg, you'll see mass 21st level players tomorrow/after 2 days... one of the stupedest ever change. But... yes, now you don't need crafting cartriges when one .44 FMJ bullet from deagle will bring you tones of XP by killing poor mobs.

1) Because you can go on 1st level and kill damned mutated plants who can't move and standing at the same place, and get tones of XP, by just shooting them with ANYTHING that shoot, better do it in Real Time, to not waste your RL time.
2) Killing centaurs/floaters from 1 level = 21st level at 1st day of playing (yes, of couse you can't do it, if you just created char and have nothing, but gangers/rich people/etc, can do that)

Seriously, now we have one good thing in game. Its your problem that you are weak against others. You can level new char against everyone too so where is problem.

I think it's better than "OMG small radscorpions! I need to kill big ones only or otherwise I lost tons of exp!" same goes to Mean/Normal Centaurs, Tough/Normal Deathclaws, Nasty Floaters etc. etc.

Devs proly solved exping system and they want to save it for full game version... now they propably want to see how the game and its system would work with high levels characters, thats why they disallowed diminishing exp critters  imo. They will release it in non wipe ages when u wont mind to make a character for 3 months of play.

however I would keep this change forever due to my lack on time nad because killing of monsters is not fun :p

Finally. Good job, at last we won't need some stupid ways to exp like fa/doc. We can now just pick up a gun and ammo and go to kill for exp..

I had hope you gonna delete that sick "weakness" from First Aid... You used FA when you had crippled limbs and guess what? You can't cure crippled limbs because you used Doctor to cure weakness... that's stupid as hell... if weakness and crippled limbs would be simply cured by 1 doctor use... Devs really want us to suffer :<

Yeah, full wipeout. I know - beta, beta, beta. But it is like a hit in the head, when after a month of quite balanced playing (yes, playing and testing, but now I mean playing) one devs decision ruins it all. And I know - tests, tests, tests, but why something like that? There was already quite a bunch of 21lvls anyway, so not for testing... I dunno. All I know is that now you can either grab a gun and go 21 along with 1000 other players, or leave it. I think I'll choose the latter.

(I just hope they will take me to this whole Army RP thing, or I'll have to take some time being Foffline)

Good luck in grinding. And not forget to take those perks fast, they dissapear after 3 levels.


EDIT: Jodwig -> the problem was that for some strange reason weakness is treated as more important than being crippled, not that weakness exists

I don't play 24/7, may be only 12/7 when study and 18/7 at holidays ;p

Anyway, I lvling by crafting cartriges, then by outdoorsman by going to sell them and return. Also by the way trying to insta-kill floaters/centaurs with my desert eagle, if they're coming too close I simply escape and continue my trip to/from catrige-selling place. You can easy make 1-2 levels/day on 16th+ without fanatic focus on crafting/selling (70% of time spending on bombing NCR), but it's boring. Also hunting Endless Walkers at Real Time mode, but they count as ghouls, and unfortunately I killed alot, so I don't get much XP.
Anyway removing diminishing XP will just make alting more useful, and XP is not a problem anymore, you can get any build in any time. It's excellent for BT, so I hope it'll be only during BT.

Let's all quit this game, because you can do it too. And go kill yourself, because you can do it too.

So what? Why do we need balancing BG/SG, when if SG>BG or SG<BG we can play all only for SG or BG in 2nd case. I'm not crying or arguing that will disbalance something, or make someone weaker, it's simple way to test alot char-builds, nothing more. As I said, removing XP diminishing is excellent for testing, but it'll kill normal gameplay.
About making PvP-char, I don't want, because as I said somewhere, I don't want to have char who can only shoot and... shoot. I have enough apm(atleast watching some TCs videos... these guys 100% haven't played any RTS like warcraft or starcraft, because they move/click with cursor like crippled zombie of turtle) and MY(without server's lags) inet-connection to play pure PvP, but I simply don't find it fun, that's the one of 3 reasons why I don't use pure PvP chars. The second reason is: it's boring to level up only by what this character can do: shoot. And third: I want to be independent, play when I want and how I want, don't want to have kind of duty or something, and where you saw PvP-loner, where there're always 3-4 guys camping? Yes, with this feature all PvPers will be happy, and that's good, because we're beta-testers, we must test everything. With fast leveling everyone will have 10000 alts with different builds.

We've already had 10 000 alts with different builds, before each and every wipeout. If you were playing/testing/whatever Fonline for more than three months you would know that. This is a pain in the ass for everyone except PKs (thay can easily make another superduper killing machine), radical TC PvP players (they treat the first 20 levels as a boring preparations for their beloved constant gang wars) and those like you, who don't like PvP and still don't know how it is to choose between playing 21lvl char for two months/make alts/ wait till the next wipeout.

That means: No matter how many creatures you kill you gonna still get the same amount of XP.

Before this update, every critter of the same type you've killed gave you less and less xp. Now it's back to "normal", where you get the same xp every time you kill the same critter.

The amount of XP you get for killing critters is stable. You can kill 400 brahmins and still get same xp.

Before wipe, of couse I didn't had exactly 10'000 alts + 1 main so total 10'001 characters, but I had ALOT alts and no main, because they all were damned high levels, most of them deleted/remade, because I don't like to change names and use dots or minuses or other signs in names +alot test-alts with crazy builds only to testing one any thing. I tested almost everything is possible, and playing this game one year, but not 18/7 isn't means you're playing more than me total ;p Also when I downloaded that game at 28th January (fortunately, I got holidays) I didn't sleep for like 50 hours, and only then went to sleep only because I started to think that's not good, but really I didn't want to sleep, because this is the only game in the world for now worth to be played.
Of couse I can agree that lvling char to 21st is a bit... boring, but if you don't see any other aim at this game, except for "go to unguarded town and kill everything you see (for loners)" / "go to unguarded town and capture it with your gang", then of couse this is the best ever change in your life, because you can't play if your character isn't 21st level, because you'll always know that these guys in town have 21st, so they have an advantage.

You forgot that back in those times, you could farm shitload of ammo and then use this ammo to exp your 10000 (lol) alts. Now all ammo has to be crafted. Stop whining about 21 lvl chars and another wipe, it's pathetic. you can still gain experience as u like, so I don't get your point

I managed to see the mine at my first login, but in later ones it was not there.. looked awesome though =).

server rollbacks to place where another rollback rollbacked. In other words you  dont even need to bother playing because you will be rollbacked anyway.

It's always showing "Off", but really you can log in ;p

Dont look at server statut, usual server port is closed so it always say offline. I guess they didn't change the port on the statut checking script.

Realy really bad now all noobs can get 21 lvl in 1-2 days. So now will be more relogs to other alts. I think all players now can create min 20 characters beacause to get 21 lvl is now  very easy

Yeah, what's wrong with that almost all will have 21lvl? Lvl isn't equal to skills so probably nothing will change except that we will got better items when kill them  ;D

Spore plants (south-east of hub) are now a really good place to level a low level character. About 60-80hp, and 80xp per. Not great in terms of HP to XP ratio, but at least they don't move! Target practice anyone?

Yes thankyou v.much for better xp gains on critters. I don't get why so many people complain that there will be more lxl 21s, its not like you want too much grinding, well I don't.

It also gives you incentive to kill all enemies on screen rather than targetting two different types then leaving.

Levelling fast isn't gonna be a bad thing, and it will certainly bring a lot more players/gangs to pvp.

The people making the point that gangs will be able to help new alts level real quick is a bit moot because gangs/guilds/groups in mmos always have this kind of advantage.

No more diminishing xp is great so thanks for that.I dont really get why anyone is upset with this change because it doesnt stop you from crafting or doing anything else,it just lets the people who love PvP do what they like without having to wait.

There should be some balance between having diminishing and not having diminishing xp for killing, like someone suggested (decay of diminshing over time, so causal players can lvl up faster). Its a bit unfair for people who played more and tried to make lvl 21 with diminishing xp. Anyway, Im happy for other players who will start playing thanks to this new feature.

Read the thread more careful, it's been asked before.

Before the update, the xp you've got were lowered when you killed the same critter over and over. Now you get normal xp from every critter, it doesn't get lesser.

Wouldn't it be just easier to provide a test server with the newest update? Of course, you'd need another server and the migration of database, but all these updates seem just to cause more trouble than the previous ones.

If bringing a new server up would mean some kind of a small donation, I am sure most of the players would join in.

I'm not russian, but if it troubles you so badly that the server is (maybe? i dont know, i dont care..) in russia, then maybe you can get your own and play alone somewhere.. be grateful that there is a server at all.

I don't think most people understand that when someone says "there's a problem with the server" or "the server is down" that you guys are usually talking about the server application and not the physical box from the provider. There seems to be much confusion with this.  :-[

An unintentional side effect to this would be to ask people to donate pretending that it'd be for a better server. You'd just wait for new application and get $200 dollars in a week if the server is offline from all the addicts.

The important problem was, that the server crashed every 30 minutes, which destroys many user accounts. If that's not an important problem, then I don't know.

server is off because it needs to be off,we cannot help this,we must be patient. right devs take your time and fix the problem,dont rush just try to do it right no matter how long it will take. I hope it will be on in monday because I am working all weekend:)so  no hurry

The important problem was, that the server crashed every 30 minutes, which destroys many user accounts. If that's not an important problem, then I don't know.
Answer yourself when this crashes came? When you make last update. Wasn't just nicer to put it back before update and analyse problems without turning server offline?

They can't fuck*ng do this online, since people will whine on rollbacks and there's a high possibility of character corruptions, bugs and lost items. So basically, they're better off working offline.

Yes! Exactly! I'm also being REALLY optimistic, and thinking the devs might see all these people say what a bad idea it is to remove diminishing experience.

They should definitely ammend it, but near 1000 points for killing a bunch of mantis, where you had to EARN that with centaurs etc in the most recent version.

It also promoted crafting and trade. The game took a wonderful step in the right direction post-wipe and after April fools time, this would be detrimental methinks.

Make an official post with the topic about the approximate time the server starts. If you know the time of inclusion, it is much reduce the empty statements and questions: "When will include?". And if the server is turned on before - this is fine and this is good luck))

Even if the dev's have "no idea" they must have some idea....surely...as in are we talking weeks, months to fix it? also have they crossed swords with this problem before? if so a little more information would be nice, to save poor addicts the agony of checking every ten minutes or so on the forums for updates....please! even if it is a rough guess i wouldn't care. JUST ANYTHING! (starts pulling hair out) though i do appreciate it's an unforeseen problem and big updates and fixes are good so i don't mind waiting, but someone must know something? (i knew i should have taken 'Fonline resistant' as a perk, instead of 'reliant')

If the idea was a failure, you can always overcome difficulties or to abandon the idea.
I suggest getting a little bit of certainty from the GM, instead of speculation and idle chatter of other players

This (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memory_leak) is the kind of problem that causes the crashes (and account corruption, rollback). The insane lag is most probably another issue, however, finding memory leaks is a hell, and with the relatively primitive debugging methods available, it may take a long time to solve both this issues.

A wipe will solve nothing, as the issue still remains, and the crashes will come again after a few days, when sufficient amount of memory is allocated for the crash to occur (2 GB, which is the process space limit of 32-bit processes).

This is not a new issue, but it has worsened because of the amount of players playing now, compared to before the wipe. The additional features added also means that there's a larger chance that additional calls to functions which leak memory exist.

It's not "single-core", it's multithreaded. It utilizes all four cores, so performance wise, it's better than before. This is not an issue about hardware.

but something new must came up with the last update - ealier it was 1:30-2::10 server up time with save every 15 min .... but after update the save was every 1h and server were crashing every 3X min.... eitherway GL with fidning the leak it can take months ;/

Even my teach said that pointers are evil. Hes right tbh :P
I just stick to java...

Anyways brace yourselfes people, server wont come up for a long time(i dont know, but i can well imagine) maybe even another wipe will be needed?
