If you want to leave straight away you can always ride with a few mercs which would guard your car...

Cars should have some disadvantages else of the cost and upkeep costs...
If you want safe travelling, use train, and I hope some NPC caravans which would be someday added to travel between all towns...

And why is that?

I see absolutely no need to make using cars more costly or risky, especially now that they are an expensive necessity.

I don't need alternative safe transportation after having paid a shitton for a car.

As the Vault City research shows, there has been dangerous growth in carbon monoxide emmisions, slowing down the process restoration of the air and land... Thus public transporation and means of transportation utilizing biological engines (for example brahmins) are encouraged...  :)

Seriously, travelling by train, caravans and interacting with other people, even the (if it was short) waiting is more fun than using car...
Cars should be expensive, useful for teams of players who need to get somewhere fast and get out of there fast, also having the disadvantage of being possible to be stolen...

Anyway I agree it should be possible to hide a car so nobody can find it, but for first 1-3 minutes when you park it, it should be discoverable... like I said, it can be said that is the time you are camuflaging the car... (at least you don't have to really manually do it)

So you're part of a gang, maybe even a large one? 

Yeah the devs are trying to make cars a more viable means for players to get around.  Which means unless something makes the cars more safe to own, they will fail.  Because yes the rich will be the only ones to buy them but only because they can [AFFORD] to lose one.  Those of us who don't have cash to waste on something that sadly even now, is so easy to lose, wont buy them.

That has nothing to do with me not looking forward to a fonline where majority of players move around in cars...

I hope you are not right about the first sentence, only dev can say that...
I would enjoy the game more if it was more multiplayer, which public transportation boosts, not the privacy of cars.
Anyways I'm not for making cars entirely useless like previous era either. I even say lets shorten the time, when the car can be found...
Public transport should be cheap (not 100c per ticket...), less conveniant, alternative to cars...

It seems pretty clear to me this game is and always will be about the wasteland is harsh.  Maybe the devs want it this way to see what possible outcomes can happen with cars and griefing?  After some thought cars will still be used as base decoration since those are the only places safe to park, well tents too.  Either that or only the massive gangs can afford to lose them and most of us single players will be either hoofing it or hope to catch a train on time by timing it in real life.

Why else nerf walking speed and make cars not show up on the map for the whole time while parked?  Its clearly an incentive to own one.  But I assume since the devs SEEM to love "the wasteland is harsh" bit, it will always be stealabe for the lulz.

Whats the problem? You park it somewhere, for the next few minutes its discoverable - so either park it sufficiently out of the way noone will chance upon it, or park it only when you will be gone for a significant period of time, so anyone who does find it will get bored and leave the encounter long before you get back.

You already get to skip 95% of encounters, so unless you're circling round NCR the amount of player encounters you should have will be minimal.

I always thought cars were meant for spead AKA convenience.  And yes, I can park my car 10 or 15 tiles away from the city and hope nobody happens to stumble in on it.  Don't know how long it takes a griefer to get bored, could be a few minutes could be few hours.   Do I personally find this convenient?  No.  

PS:  What possible benefit would come from giving someone time to camp a parked car till the owner comes back besides the lulz?

how many miutes is this "few"??, and could you please make something like car visibilty cooldown ?
Well i can say im member of one of those " bigger" gangs, and im only who bought car, im using it only for traveling tent - base
36k is still too much and i wont risk its loss.

Go sol, create char,make 36K, buy a car. and then  tell us your feelings.
