Shooting people all day long, running through the world like an asshole and killing everything on sight? No, thanks sir, then I'd rather stay poor than joining this "circle".

120k from what exactly? No creeps drop money, the weapons aren't worth anything unless you have 200 repair.

Mostly selling junk, el. parts, metal parts to other players, shoveling shit, selling brahmins/slaves, doing repeatable quests, etc. You won't gather so much cash in one or two days - that's obvious, I have played more or less since the last wipe. The point is that there is no use in gathering money right now. I don't even craft anything myself, I'm used to buying everything I need from others and I still get more and more cash.

being solo low level getting small guns in gecko, has got me pk'ed a few times. open the door to talk to skeeter and BLAM, someone is waiting there. there goes my caps. to obtain more money to get a profession, one would assume you'd have to be at a higher level to have that many caps (10000 or whatever). i think it may help this pking problem by raising the price, cause you would be able to defend your caps.
then again i like the fact the first level of professions are cheap, cause crafting is nice at low level. lets you gain so much xp..
maybe raise the price of the other levles of professions?

Not to mention some profession have little to no use, like doctor lvl 1 & 2.

Yeah, why to waste time playing? We should be given all the professions, levels, equipment for free, at the beginning of the game, since everything else is only wasting of time. Is that what you meant?

It is not HAVING something that gives an incentive to play but a gradual developement and being aware of future possibilities. The more time it takes the longer you will find the game interesting. Reaching next level of a profession should be considered as an achievement. The more it costs you the greater satisfaction it brings when you finally reach it. In order to produce an absorbing game, the candy must be difficult to get, but still attainable.

I just gave the examples of how I have managed to make 120k, maybe you can think of something more creative (without cheating).

The risk is part of the game. And it's one of the main things I like about it.
You don't need any professions to craft. You can craft leather jackets, pistols, shotguns, ammo from the very beginning. And 10000 really isn't much.

1. I have stated that these professions should be treated differently under current circumstances.
2. I can see a pattern: first whine-forcing removal of things like perma-cripple or weakening and then realizing that some skill or profession is useless.

It often seems to me that the only goal of majority of FOnline players is just to "pwn" others with best equipment available. Anything which stands on the way of achieving this goal is just a gratuitous nuisance.

I agree with everything Elmehdi wrote, he already spoke my mind, so I don't know what more can I add.

please, you are forgetting this is a game. Also, after getting like smallgun level 3, you can craft....sniper rifles,.223 pistols which would be lost in minutes??

Yeah I only ever make scoped hunting rifles because the damage difference isn't much of an issue and its cheap.

It appears that we just expect different things from this game.

hunting rifle: dmg 8-20, range 40
sniper rifle: dmg 14-34, range 50

I'd say the difference is substantial. Don't forget that 223 FMJ substracts 20% from a target's damage resistance, so these are really good weapons.

Making level 3 weapons takes now 3h of crafting CD. It's already a limitation. Taking 3 level profession decreases your karma in 50% of towns down to -1000 or -2000 (raiders, enclave).

And, as someone said - it is a GAME. I play FO for FUN. Not for gathering junk, making pistols, selling for caps, paying caps for prof, gathering more junk, making bigger pistols, selling for more caps, paying caps for prof, gathering much more  junk, making much bigger pistols, begining to play.. whoops, I don't have more time to play. Real life called and said i have go to the work. DAMN. Another SIMcity game, never more..

And you need all the best gear available in the game to achieve the state of mind that you call "fun", right?

Simcity is an epic game.

I have been playing this game more or less since the wipe. I have only 1 character (hunter/trapper/sniper whatsoever). It's on level 17 now. I don't use any alts, exploits, I don't steal, PK and the best equipment I have managed to gather so far is a couple of metal armors and a sniper rifle (but I don't use it - too valuable and weights too much, mostly I play equipped with leather armor and hunting rifle). I don't play much (now I run the game maybe once a few days) and I find it quite enjoyable to hunt, gather and trade with others. Sometimes I happen to take down some lone PK if I know I can. Sometimes I give some free equipment to newbie players. I agree that there is not much to do in the game right now, but it still can be enjoyable. If you are a crafter, then you don't need to gather eveything yourself. You can buy the materials, and semiproducts from players like me, craft something out of it and sell it back with a profit + exp. It's called rolplaying, you have to find your place. Being totally independent and having everything that the game has to offer, just after 2 or 3 days of playing you miss a lot - this is all I can say. But still you can have your own concept.

FOnline is an early beta

Why oh why so many people doesn't understand there's not much to do YET

Then again - whenever I play fonline i'm never bored because "there's nothing to do"
Hunting, crafting, gathering, repairing, player interaction, bug seeking, occasional player killing, exploring...

If that's not enough for you "lusting for more" guys, then suggest something new and wait till it's done

PS. We do need some more ways to spend caps

Hunting rifle just takes more shots to kill and only takes like 2 junk and 1 wood. Sniper rifle takes tons of alloys.

I agree that professions should cost more. Maybe the numbers suggested are a bit high, but those who say it would make people more valuable to factions do have a point. I think the entire profession system could use reworking.

For example, low level items could be learned from specific NPCs in different areas. Like the recipe for a 10mm SMG would be learned from one NPC, who could possibly also offer the recipe for 10mm AP, and it would be much cheaper than buying the profession level. The actual profession levels would cost much more, and could either give higher level equipment or just fill in the items that are missing. This allows single players to craft specifically what they need, while factions and traders can invest large amounts of money into full crafting capabilities.

The buyable recipes would have lower skill requirements than the actual profession, which would actually give a slight edge to single players, because for lower equipment, they could buy the recipe they need and then have a few skill points left over that they would have put into the profession.

Example numbers:

Small Guns Lvl 1:

60% Repair
50% Science
70% Small Guns

4 ST
5 AG

10,000 caps

Would give all the items it currently does.

10mm SMG:

50% Repair
35% Science
65% Small Guns

4 ST
5 AG

700 caps

Only adds the 10mm SMG to your list.

Sorry if I kinda stole your thunder.
