I was talking with Cajuns earlier about the events, which one they liked, which one they hated, this kind of things. They told me that the biggest problem with events is that they are rare, which, I have to say, is quite true. The problem is, at the moment with the disabled features to hunt lags it is not really the right time to make new events, partly because of the heavy lags, the disabled Field of View and the unnerfed sneak.

We were wondering if you, players, had ideas for the events that we, Game Masters, could make. Remember that we couldn't credit you about this idea, and if we decide to base an event on it, we would certainly change it a bit.

As developers have better things to do (fixing laggzors!) than making fancy scripts, an event idea shouldn't require a new script/dialog/npc. Existing ones are already in game. Game Masters can spawn any npc and item or block path.

Also, remember that an idea has to be detailed. It's easy to say "you should spawn raiders in NCR that players have to fight", but it's hard to make if we haven't got any details. We can work on the balance details ("How much enemies to spawn" for example) and so on.

We're not here to debate about the ideas. Only Game Masters will judge if one is good or bad, and will maybe eventually make it. However, it's a good occasion to tell us about your events ideas! You can browse the forum to look at the events that have already been made.

Well you could always go for the "Battlezone" events again, as far as I can tell they aren't that hard to make, right? You have a special location, players come naked, players go naked and they just can shoot stuff or people there with the weapons laying around. I know, it's pretty mindless, but I guess a few players had fun with it and it wasn't that much stress for the GMs(?). So it could be made weekly or so, every saturday evening - a battlezone event.

I've also read yesterday in the "events" subforum, that people liked the events so far, but simply want more. I've read a comment, saying: "We want more Quantity, not Quality". I know that bigger, well executed events, even with a little backstory (like the NCR Defence) are  always better and more fun for both the players and the GMs - but let's stick for now at the easier, quicker ones than making things which just need more time.

So, another one - the "maze" event you had there sounded also awesome. And the map is still there, right? Could be another weekly thing, since (of course I don't know the details, since I can't see the scripts etc. which are needed for ;) ) it's already been made and worked out. Same goes with the "Minefield".

Or the thing you've made with the easter event - just place a few items somewhere in the world, players need to find them. As an example, you have a maximum of 150 items, let's say stones. Those 150 stones you drop everywhere in the world and players need to catch as much as they can. After the event is over (make the time windw lesser then the easter one) the player who has the most stones wins something. There could also be a price for the second best and the third best.

Or a little "Fallout Quiz". You prepare, let's say 40, questions about the fallout world in general (they shouldn't be to easy). Then you divide all the players who take part of the event in groups (random). You tell the question and if one player of group XY is the fastest and answers it correct, the group gets a point. If the fastest player gives an answer which is false - he is out of the quiz (he dies in a horrible way.. :D). This will be repeated until just a few players are left. Then you make a "last man standing" and see who is the smartest of all, who knows the most about the fallout universe. This one get's a gift then or so.

Another idea - teleport all players (naked) who want to take place in the event to the inner core of the glow. Spawn there several death traps (robots etc).
This is an easy one - the player who manages it to get out there alive, or atleast make it to stage 1 wins.




Of course those are just tiny ideas. But that's because we don't know which scripts are already in, what can be done and what can't be done etc.

I think we need more "historic events". FOnline is not Counter Strike, it has a story from Fallout and we should make something with that.


PS : my english is not good enough to post ideas here so I do that on the french community forum.

Thanks for the ideas, Surf Solar ! As this topic is not over-flooded, I think I can post a detailed answer =p

Well you could always go for the "Battlezone" events again [...] it could be made weekly or so, every saturday evening - a battlezone event.
The last Warzone Event was good, but we wait for some scripts to improve it (Players had no possibility to leave the map, and replication was painful, with still 10hp...). We asked devs for a script for this one because yes, Warzone event has some potential and could be used several times.

Yes, the Minefield could be made more often, but in fact players just made alts with 10 PE and high Traps skill to win the prize quickly, which is both stupid and breaking the event concept. However there are some solutions. For the Maze... No, we would have to build another Maze. It was Jovanka's event, so I don't want to speak instead of her, but the fact it if it was made on a weekly basis we would have to build a new maze each time, and it is a looong work =(

Players would just trade them, if it was about "the one with the most stones". But why not ? Plus, I agree that the Easter Eggs event required almost no work at all (What, hiding eggs on maps ? Took me three minutes) and we could make events like this more often.

Fallout quizz - no. FOnline quizz - maybe. We already tested it for a small event, and players were just looking for the answers on Google. However, a FOnline quizz could work, since if we choose the questions carefully, there would be no answer on our website or fonline.ru .

Yes, I totally like this - with a bit changes however. Doesn't need a lot of work, could provide a lot of fun, and be used on several maps... Yay ! I also like it because, as said Pozzo, it's not another shoot-and-loot event.

Hm, I have a kind of a suggestion, how about making some GM's killable? This should be carefully thinken over, like for example, I'd really like to hunt GM's and to get some reward (maybe) for defeating them? Maybe there should be some day or hour when you could kill GM's, sure thing that requesing help and killing the unsuspecting GM at close range with a BG is not the way to do this, but maybe you could help me with the details? I hope you got the main idea of this. I think it could be fun.

PS some GM's may support this idea and perticipate, others may just reject this.  ::)

Why a GM ? You're frustrated to not be able to kill them ?

No, it will be better to do something like a player who have high HP and High-tech gear, and everybody hunt him. The one who kill him takes is place and it restarts. And maybe after some time (few hours ? few days ?) the one who will be the "Almost God Guy" for the longest time got a reward.

Yay ! I also like it because, as said Pozzo, it's not another shoot-and-loot event.

Yes, I'd also like to see more events based on the actual Fallout World, not just Shoo stuff. ;) But I thought for now (as you said no new scripts,dialogues etc) it was just a "filler" to have some events at all which can be easily made. (plus, I'm a lazy bum :P)

I already suggested you this one months ago, Izu, but you said it would have been difficult to set it up. Well, I try my luck again :

Enclave, who 's just discovered a FEV sample in Mariposa, is trying to escape and lock up the mutants in the base.

So, one group of Enclave soldiers, with the FEV sample, would start at last floor and have to progress to the 1st floor, figthing against mutants. Then they 'd have to hold position during the setting up of the bomb, and escape when countdown would start.

Two possibilities : Mutants are real players or not. In the first case, their goal would be to take back the FEV and escape from the base if the Enclave reach the 1st floor with the FEV.


Do you think it's possible ?
I know there're a lot of details to discuss (APA or not ? How many players ?...), but I hope you will be able to do something with this idea.

We would need to make it with less details. We can't, for example, display a cooldown. Anyway main problem would be balance between super mutants and Enclave troopers. Another one would be that Mariposa's elevators allow some heavy grid camping. I think that 's enough problems to abandon this event idea ;p But thanks for writing it here anyway

Silly event idea:

(wall of text warning)

There are some rumours that Xoen's cow was seen around X (can't think of a good place) and is currently used in a caravan by a very mean person. This person (a GM), through using all the mythical items stored in that cow had become all but invincible (7000 HP and 90% DR, instakills preferably disabled) so the only way to recover the cow is to convince him to give it to you (preferably a group of players).
The problem is that this person will give it away only if you bring him Y, Z, K, L, N, and 5,000 caps (something a group of five and more people could gather within an hour). After successfully getting the caravan, Xoen appears out of nowhere and says that he is very grateful (1,000 experience to everyone in team) and will be even more so (additional 2,000 exp and 500 caps) if you can help him get his cow to his tent safely. Obviously this tent will be on the opposite end of the map and the group will be lead by Xoen with 40 outdoorsman skill. The main obstacle here would be fending off any intruders who randomly spot the caravan.
The route should be from one town to other as you'd need to resupply for water (no taking 100 water bags :p) and combat should be turn-based to make it as long as possible. Allowing more intruders to find the spot.
Anyone who kills the guards will get 500 caps to leave Xoen alone and if they want, they may help him complete the journey. The reward then will only be another 500 caps for everyone, no experience, or just a tiny amount like 400 exp.

I think good kind of event is: " Bring to me one "thing"(gecko pelt, lighter), I'm in "location". Who will first give me that item in trade will win 500 exp or 500 caps or 100 x .223 ammo or etc. etc." about 5 rounds a day will be funny. But not in well known time. Players cannot be preperd. :P What do you think about it?

Necropolis Pump
Water pump in Necropolis is down. Bunch of crazy raiders want to keep it broken, because they hate ghouls and don't want any "goodie good assholios" around. These "good ones" need to fix pump as soon as possible, before Necropolis run out of drinking water.
After death people won't back to fight (closed location, copy of Necropolis?), running through sewers allowed. It would be nice to give both groups some skins for quick identification.
Victory conditions:
- "good ones" - a Super Toolkit needs to be delivered to the pump and stay there for at least 10 minutes, required to fix the pump
- "raiders" - intercept a Super Toolkit and/or kill all "good ones"

Fight Club
Unarmed chars strongly recommended. Fight 1 vs 1, victory by knockout longer than 10 seconds or when enemy will surrender by saying "stop". If for example 30 people want to fight, they are choosing enemy by random, winners fight again with other winners, and so on, and so on, until getting a first place. Losers can try next time.
Location: Bishop's Casino, the one with a ring in cellar.
First prize: preciousss item like good weapon/armor, second prize: less, but still precious item, third prize: large amount caps, but not more than 10k.
Conditions: no drugs, stimpaks, FA, no killing knocked down fighters. No own equipment required, bare fists.

Sparta!
Brave Spartans are defending their Holy Spear from unholy Persians. Unarmed/Melee chars as Spartans, other as Persians.
Location: hard to say, it needs some buildings where Spartans may hide and suprisingly attack from dark corridors.
After death people won't back to fight. Spartans should have "tribal" skins, if it is possible. They can carry their Holy Spear with them, but cannot getting it out of the map.
Victory conditions:
- Spartans: all Persians are dead, the Holy Spear is safe
- Persians: intercept the Holy Spear and/or kill all Spartans

And, last but not least:
Warzone
Quake Arena 2D, no own equipment required. Enter there and frag for glory with guns you can find everywhere on the ground. Respawn with full HP and without cripplings.
This, erm, "event" should be running simultaneously with other one from above, to simply give people expecting only "pwning n00bz" something to do, like n00bz to pwn. They won't understand rules of any other event anyway.

Is it possible to somehow alter lights in FOnline? I mean that maze ideas are awesome and there could be something like pitch black event. I mean turn visibility to 0. Whole area completely black and only light around your char will allow you to move around and explore such area. Find stuff, meet people, kill people etc. Maybe something like group of scientists and guards find themselves in vault (or some underground lab) when some FeV experiment subject turns bad and escape, cut out power and returns to free other test subjects. So divide people into 2 groups: subjects and scientists/guards. Subjects could be granted with ghoul skin allowing only to walk slowly but since whole 3 floor lab is completely covered in darkness they will be very dangerous. Main objective for scientists/guards is to get out of lab to the surface, while test subjects want to have their revenge. So little survival event with 2 sides and one badass boss ending.

Problems with thisone:
- need to alter lights
- need to alter player skins/hp/dmg (maybe add poison/radioactive dmg to their mele hits etc.)
- discipline is a must for thisone => maybe sign up for this event not one by one but in teams. So subjects could be made of 2-3 teams each counting 6-7 players, while scientists/guards will be made of one team with 5-6 people. After each "round" (some side wins) teams just switch their positions so the 1st team on subject side will switch and roll scientists, 2nd team who was defending 2nd floor will move to 3rd or something like that. Maybe mix NPCs and players at subject side so there will be trully hordes of enemies.

Simply zombie survival kinda stuff. I would definitelly enjoy something like that :D.

Lets land an allien ship or few of them in the desert. I dunno if its hard to place such en encounter map but if its ok, then we can start looking for them, kiling alliens, getting eaten by them. also one can spawn some alliens in towns guarded and not just to scare shit away from all unsuspecting traders and bazaar people. 

- there would be nice blaster-guns inside the ships
- battle ROBOTS!
- a ship can fall from the sky and smash NCR!
- alliens can take hold of SF or LA, so it will become a total ZONE!
- we can increase the chance to encounter alliens worldwide and have a nice alien weekend or even a week!

ALIENS INVADED!
