Blue prints from farming NPCs
« on: October 27, 2012, 02:49:55 am »

I think there should be be a small chance that commonly farmed NPCs drop blue prints for weapons that they hold. And it should be rare that they drop these and not too easy to obtian. This too me is more fun than trying to run in and out of encounters on a lock picker.

Like for example
BOS: Avenger Bp (I know this doesn't exist)
Enclave: Plasma rifle; avenger; gatling laser
Kahn Raiders: Fn Fal
Unity: Rocket launcher, laser rifle
Vault City: Sniper rifle, Combat armor
NCR Army : CamkII

I shall approve this idea as soon as I sell all my blueprints.

Buyable blueprints at gun runners for raw cash. Blueprints for sale would be quite random and they would change time to time , let's say 3 blueprint types at a time with a fixed price and amount. Any blueprint could show up for sale , they would cost accordingly to how rare and useful they are ranging from few thousands of caps for some cattle prod BP to 500 k for a combat armor BP.

The ultimate money sink.

More places like glow. It's pretty decent place apart from elevator camping and requiring a special alt.

Ares spawns blueprints too at good rate but that place is a hellhole for loner and even groups need to resort to heavy abuse.

This game needs badly random loot on NPCs. So it would be viable to farm some nonsense (meaning, non profitable) encounters . Very slim chance to drop rare items, even BPs, the riskier encounter, the better chance to loot something good.

BPs should be avaible in few ways:
- lockers as it is now
- loot from NPCs
- buyable from NPCs

I kind of like the player trade system better than buying blue prints from an NPC.

I just think a rare drop from farming NPCs is more fun than running around on a blue suit lock picker. Or maybe some fun complicated and difficult quests would be a fun alternative also.

I'm all for random loot chances on NPC's. Even other stuff than BP's. Firstly, it adds some "story" to random NPC's, as they won't appear as clones if they carry personal items. Secondly, as stated above, randomness in drops will have a positive effect on the amount of players.

Unpredictable drops (in addition to what they'll drop anyway) will add a nice addictive feature to the gameplay. It's exactly this feature that makes the diablo games so addictive.

Sidenote: might be a good idea to have the random item be held in the hand of te NPC, to avoid thieving.

Doubtful. The flaw with blueprints is that once people have them, they don't have to hunt them anymore.
