I know that, I want a build that works well with 300 science.


I want this character to have some other use, it's disappointing how we always need tons of alts for the most simple things, I like to make my characters as flexible as possible without affecting what he was mainly meant to do in the first place.

I'm not even sure if it's worth it; with 100% science I can dismantle 10 items and only get one resource--such as junk, metal parts, or a gecko skin. Even if the rate was doubled or tripled you'd still be better off with mining or random encounters.

I'm dismantling shit with 28 science and getting good metal parts and HQ alloys... When I get it.

I think it's some bug, I have 300% science on GM character and have similar dismantling results.
No idea what causes this.

I have similar results. Perhaps dismantler perk is to blame and has the same problem as treasure hunter perk.

Hi, I'm giving FOnline a try again after a looong while and I can see that a lot has changed (for better I guess), I've searched/wikied as much as I could but some things seem outdated and I still got a dozen of questions (for now :))):

1) are fighter characters (i.e. no crafting skills) useful economically for a fraction - i.e. are you considered a leech or can you easily find/buy/get good quality equipment?

2) did I got that right - as a crafter, no only it takes ages to mine/find resources, you get easily buttraped by thieves or PKers, you suck against other players and now you also need to find blueprints (for which you potentially need a new blueprints finder alt)?

3) are big and energy weapons still hard to get (besides crafting)? what's their effectiveness? I've read that AP's got tweaked...

4) is a guarded area a thief heaven (as in: he can steal, you can't fight back)?

5) is there any difference between barter 10% and 30% (or similarly with speech) - due to the minimum time set for bartering/chatting that are currently in place?

6) do people still got a few dozen of alts? A PVP char, supported by a medic and crafter, which in turn is supported by a thief, blueprint finder, high charisma trader and so on...

7) cooldowns - did I get that right, are the gathering and crafting cooldowns out of the game?

8 ) which skills (besides combat and sneak) are worth getting over 100% and why? which are not worth getting even up to 100?

9) there's a lot of addition for charisma - have it really change the gameplay or are most people 1-3 charisma only anyway?

10) is there any use for explosives besides suicide runs? do those happen often?

11) are big guns/energy crafter professions 3 in the game or just on wiki? can you have all profession or is the 3lvl limitation still in place?

12) Do people play turn-based these days?

i can answer how it is from my point of view:

1 everyone have own crafter thief and so on so nobody leches anyone
2 crafter only to craft which is boring and takes long time... blueprint finder alt is needed
3 big guns i dont know but energy are the easiest to get from all, same with ammo for em and their effectivness is awesome this season
4 yes, nothing changed here
5 i believe just few more seconds to trade, basic time is just added here
6 yes they do,all of em are needed
7 yes
8 over 100: outdoorsman barter speech steal sneak science ,not worth: all other besides fa doc repair
9 1 or 3 or 10
10 only for suicide, they happen rarely couse of lack of detonator parts
11 there is no 3rd profs only 2 levels and you can have all professions on 1 character
12 yes, most efficient is turn based fast shoot energy spammer for farming encounters

7 yes

However, mines have a certain amount of ores/minerals that you can gather until they are depleted. When you want to mine, pay attention to the message you get in your textbox. If it says "the resources have been depleted", there's no point in clicking any more. But you can try with a different rock in the same map (example: in the NCR mine one of the rock sceneries can be empty, but the one next to it might still have some ores). Resources appear again in mines after some time, I personally don't know how much exactly.

- Changed the Sneak/FoV mechanics:
  • Observer's maximum sight range is reduced, based on opponent's relative direction: 0%, 20%, 40% and 60% (for front, front-side, back-side and back respectively). For sneakers, the following algorithm decides the visibility:
  • First, raw Sneak skill value of the opponent is taken. Then the following boni are applied:
    • For being next to a wall (1 hex, or 5 with Ghost perk): +30.
    • For being hidden behind an object (there is an unpassable scenery between the opponent and the target no more than 2 hexes from the opponent): +60.
    • For using Stealth Boy: +60.
  • At this point of calculations, Sneak is capped at 300. Then the following penalties are applied:
    • For opponent's relative direction: -72, -36, -12, 0.
    • For wielding weapons: -36 for two handed rifle in active slot, -72 for heavy weapons in active slot.
    • For wearing armours: -36 for Combat Armor and variants, -72 for Metal Armor and variants.
    • For running: -60, unless with Silent Running perk.
  • The opponent is invisible whenever its distance from the observer increased by final Sneak/6 is larger than observer's FRONT sight range (regardless of the actual direction).
  • Everything said when sneaked is downgraded to whisper.
  • Active Motion Sensor reveals all critters in 15 hexes radius (whether behind a wall or not). It consumes Small Energy Cells and Micro Fusion Cells. Use Science on it to see remaining charges.
  • Stealth Boy disappears on use and grants a 20 minutes long Sneak bonus. Consuming more resets the timer to 20 minutes.

300% sneak +ghost gives more than 300% sneak and 10 PE can see you on less than 15 hexes and 10 PE+SS can see you on less than 21 hexes. Noticed after one sneaker at NCR tested my sneak. And then I tested it myself at base with my 10 PE bomber alt. At plain desert he saw me on 15 hexes (it's ok), but behind barrel on 11 hexes. I believe that if I would eat stealth boy and stand near wall, he wouldn't see me at all (on 3 hexes I mean).

In other words ideal build will be 300% sneak, ghost, stealth boy and be behind barrel, that will give you 450% sneak.
Line:

doesn't work.

So here's a question:
Is it a bug or mistype in changelog?

Also I can remember words of one GM who said that he doesn't believe in 300% cap, now I understand what he meant :D
And really, how this could happen.

Not in my knowledge,and that would probably mean nope.
But i would give a try to the shi guard skin (very unlikely anyway) and the long haired ian like one.

How can I quick aim unarmed attacks?


I know about the whole FO2238config thing but even if I set the game to aim at the eyes the haymaker keeps doing normal attacks in RT.

the auto aim for fist is  is broke. it will work with brass knuckles and power fist thou.
