Thanks to a spiffingly acurate ingame Jet description...
« on: March 29, 2011, 02:54:54 am »

I've just spoiled a whole character.
Hours and hours of work out the window.

Great, thanks devs, no really thanks a lot for being too lazy to add that tiny bit of info saying it's 100% noreturn addiction from one dose. I guess that was too much a task for you.

So long, it's a great game, sucks I had to have it spoiled like this.
Maybe when you get your act together to match the wiki descriptions with ingame ones I'll reconsider.

The wiki does say it's a 100% addiction. And in Fallout 2, it lasts forever unless you get a Jet antidote.

Or, if you are complaining about the stat boosts/minuses being wrong, that's because it would be useless for players to update the wiki because a bot AHS-9 needs to automatically update them, but that hasn't happened.

Well forgive me for checking the ingame description first then...
I'd never played Fallout 2 before, just Fallout.

Why not include the jet antidote?

Why not include the jet antidote?
They say it doesn't fit the Fallout timeline.

Not that I agree with that. If it were up to me, I'd put a antidote in there, since the factual timeline doesn't matter much to me. If it were up to me, I would make Jet another drug that addiction only lasts the usual time.

But yeah, something could be added to the wiki (and in-game description) to say that it is permanent and there is no way to get rid of a jet addiction once you take it, it only says 100% chance of addiction.

Is jet addiction affected by Chem Resistant trait?

I saw your post, I had to LOL really hard. Hilarious.  8) Too bad they removed it, don't know why, it was not offensive to anyone.

So in light of that, could a GM fix me up or am I doomed to remain like this.
I mean this game is still in beta too, I don't see why I'd have to be stuck with something I didnt want in the first place due to some item description "bug" or mistake.

I think that Jet makes you always addicted no matter what traits you have (I can be wrong as always, but someone can correct it)

Good argument Sir, but sadly they wont revoke it because they draw power from our suffering  ;)
I could quote the things two GMs said after i said "i did jet by accident (wanted to drop a pack of 100 from TC chest, klicked the wrong hand out of sleepyness/less concentration) but im at work at the moment. Main thing was : they made fun of me  :'(

I'll try it on them now, and if they do make fun of it, well it's not my problem. Let them further insult their own intelligence for all I care. I sure have better and more interesting things to do irl than arguing over something this stupid.

You seem to be having trouble going. Allow me to help.

If you bother coming back after the 7 days holiday your ungreatfulness has earnt you, you would be advised to revise your attiude. We are not here to service you, you are allowed to join in our free time project. Can't understand the difference? Don't come back.

Well, one last thing said: you can counter the addiction to jet by takin nuka cola (if you got the right Agility for it). Because Jet Addiction only gives a -1 maxAP penality after the sideeffects wore off.

I'm a nuka cola drinker now, thats how i can live a sober life without jet. *thumbs up in camera*

Ungrateful? Wait a minute, did you just say working my ass to make decent characters to join in your freetime project (as much yours as mine tbh) and contribute every day for the past month to make it a fun and engaging place to be for myself and others, is ungrateful? Im sorry but after weeks of being shat on by vets to reach a point of being barely accepted ingame, Im being told of my childish impatience and ungratefulness...
Logic fail much?

No sir, or miss, you also seem to forget how much of their free time people devote to playing your project every day also. Whereas one minor misinformed mistake on their part, partly caused by your own ingame fallacies, should not ammount to personal calls for bans or plain inconsiderate laughter at their expense. Especially since the project being beta still, community leaders ought to respond and adress clearly stated problems instead:

In the case of Jet, your ingame description was vague and far removed from any factual info on its highly influencial effects that would've detered or encouraged my character from using it.

So yes the least you could do next time before pulling the banhammer, is to stick that on your "bugs to fix" list, retarct from calling hardworking members ungrateful, and stop assuming that because it's good old Fallout 2 every player should already be familiar with all ingame items.

/Rant off, and also very much hoping a change of attitude from you.
Have a nice day.

It's not a bug, it never was. Jet addiction lasts forever since Fallout 2 and an antidote for it is like a power armor.

Beside this, I've added some hints to the item description now. Stop crying.

Stop flaming man , when i was creating my latest Big Gun char i realized it was screwed in 18 lvl because i didn't have 6 pe for bonus rate of fire :)

I bet your build was bad anyway so you'd have to level a new char if you want to be more efficient.

It's not a bug, it never was. Jet addiction lasts forever since Fallout 2 and an antidote for it is like a power armor.

Beside this, I've added some hints to the item description now. Stop crying.

"Jet is a powerful metamphetamine that stimulates the central nervous system. The initial euphoric rush rarely lasts more than a few minutes, but during that time the user is filled with a rush of energy and strength."
(ingame description)

Hints to permanent effect? Where?

Also:

"Immediate: +2 to Maximum Action Points,-1 to Charisma -2 to Strength, -15% to DR"
(wiki stats)

"Jet was created by Myron, a young scientist working for the Mordinos family, in the New Reno stables. Jet became quickly a cheap and popular drug, spreading to other towns like Redding thanks to the Mordinos contacts all over the wasteland. Because it has a 100% chance of addiction, once you've consumed a jet dose, you're in the business."
(Wiki description)

...

And no Im not remaking my char for something this stupid that could've easily been avoided if the appropriate text was in.
It's entirely up to GM's to take responsibility at this point.

I've no reason to waste a single hour of my time for it, whereas they clearly do.
