Ok so one of the problems in this game is communication. In radio conversations you never really know who you're talking to unless they identify themselves. Also, people can identify themselves falsely and say they're someone they're not.
Here's what I'm proposing. If player A & player B have met before then when they use radio communications their name will show up just like it does in regular conversation. If they haven't met it works the way it does now. However, you can use the speech skill to try & imitate anyone's voice that you've met. I'm not sure what the counterbalance would be to be able to tell they're faking it, maybe the listeners speech skill and/or PE.

GOOD ONE!
(I kind always had something like that in the corners of my mind but that never came into articulation area xD)
That is certainly a missing feature!

would it reveal the radio channel by there name as well? like as Fizzle(0) if i was on channel 0?

Huh? You can still only hear the radio channel you're tuned in to. So yeah I'd have to be on channel 0 as well. It would show "O (Fizzle) ss.. Hello ..ss" or if I haven't met you "O (?) ss.. Hello ..ss"

If player A & player B have met before...
That sounds vague and difficult to make, unless you stick to a real parameter to check if "you've met" the guy who's on the radio or not. For example, the name could appear if you have tagged that character green or red, or if both of you are in the same faction.

Doesn't sound very vague at all. Although I'm guessing it's something the engine can't handle. The whole red tag green tag thing wouldn't really work at all and would basically destroy the whole idea.

How can the game know that you've met another character? Because that character has been inside your field of view once? That's not exactly "meeting". Because you have talked to him once? How can the game know it was a conversation?

Why?

chat logs
If a players name has shown up in your chat log can't the game recognize that?
I suppose the tagging system could work, I just think it's complicating it which is what I was trying to avoid.

So you're running past NCR Bazaar and some herpa derp troll who's not talking to you mentions Eternauta and it means you've met me? Also it can be abusable (create a new character and start typing character names). I think green/red tagging makes more sense.

It would mean I've heard his voice yes. The game automatically identifies voices in chat so in game terms yeah I can now identify him.
You can't imitate smeone unless you can identify him and you've got a high enough speech skill. And as far as abusable goes... well the radio is already highly abused anyway....
-
Oh, wait, I had understood another thing, sorry. But still hearing someone's voice just once and while running past the place where that person was standing, and then being able to identify the voice on radio sounds like too much.
-
I don't see why since you can identify someone you've never met before just by looking at them. This seems to me like a perfect extension of that.

Just leave out that par of meeting anybody and it turns out to good useful feature. Checking if players met would lead only to bugs and confusions. Radio should be imho used as means of ingame trade, meeting and forming groups. With "if you met" it would be as useless as now.
-
Well then maybe adding new icon (representing shaking hands) that would work like trade (both players must agree [imagine whole new level of player interaction it would start]). From now on their names would be visible in radio messages.
If for some reason this would be to much of effort to implement THEN maybe at least willing players could write in a radio's box his name or other identifier and so that would be visible in front of message (box would be placed under/over channel box). Also maybe a way to colorize the name/nick written in that box.

Simply thing would be to have an extra switch on radio that would set your name on and off.
Player A uses radio to ask a meet up with player B at NCR. Player B gets something like this "A on radio xy(channel): Lets meet up at NCR".
Its quite irritating you got to send stuff like massage + name instead of having it do automatic.

Jotisz has some points here. Sounds a simple script.

I'd be fine with that too. I was just trying to add a sense of realism (not needed, but some seem to demand it)

I guess you've got a point. Especially when female character says in radio "Hello, Bob here." it should be a little suspicious, right?

Personally i wish we could just send PM's but that's just me.
