It doesn't really make sense why they only drop guns, plus it would give access to people who aren't crafters.
-
Sure, as long as they are highly deteriorated or broken.
Afterall, they died and as such should have plenty of bullet holes or whatever.
Also, they should be heavily stained with blood and we should introduce Harolds Magnificent Soap to get rid of the blood and stink.
-
yes, and it should magically repair all leather armors, only drawback that you will have while wearing it is hair loss :D.
-
nah that wont work, you can cheaply buy npc with a hammer and kill it, and take his metal armor then, all would do this if they would drop armor :>
-
maybe only hostile npcs in encounters would drop stuff according to their difficulty to kill, not their appearance (i'm talking about marauders, they are weak as hell for dropping metal armour)
-
Imo mercenaries are the strongest foes (encountered around San Fran) - they use plasma grenades and deadly stuff like that.
-
Yep NPCs should drop armor but these armors should be deteriorated. Not brand new.

I agree with this. My big guns crafter can't craft armor, only Leather Jacket. So there should be some other way to get Armors.
-
Well armors come in sizes. Especially the most sofisticated ones like CA and BA, but generally all armors is like clothes. They fit the user, but not anyone.
-

There is, buying them. It just needs the trader system to work properly.
-
well it will still make stonger characters even more stronger, against the weaker ones because of their ability to kill patrols or combat armored caravans, to conclude with idea sucks.
-
I heard somewhere there is already too many items fountained in the system via encounters. Maybe the dead should loose 50%-75% of their items at random on the time of death? With an exception for skins on geckos and brahmins.
-
The only way I see it acceptable is that there could be a small chance to drop a damaged armor. The better the armor the lesser the chance. And no combat armors.
Same thing could apply to weapons.♠
-
People would just loot the armors and upgrade them. Nobody would ever craft MA, LA or LJ.
-
How about making them non-upgradeable and a different colour when worn for example shitbrown leather jackets, yellow leather armour, rusty metal armour, dusty combat armor. i think thats all of them
-

Firstly, there could be a check, so to upgrade an item it has to have high enough condition.
Secondly, by "small chance" I meant small enough, so if you would want to get an armor, you would be better off just crafting it, instead of looking for it in encounters.
-

No, really. That's not even an option.
No traders sell Armors, player traders sell them way overpriced and anyone who puts enough points into barter skill to make it work properly and does not want an alt will not survive. Common sense.
Stupid bartering encourages Alting.
-
well if you're good at haggling you can get a metal armor for about 2500 caps, butthen again it's your own internal luck.
-
What do you mean by "overpriced"?
-
but then again it's your own internal luck.
I guess you got me on that one, I hardly ever see people selling armors, and when they are it's at pretty dumb prices.
-
I like this idea. The number of people running around with no armour is still ridiculous.
-

as i said earlier, maybe make a new item range, non repairable, non- upgradeable generic armour that is weaker than the crafted ones in terms of dr and ac

I think that's overkill. Leather jackets aren't exactly combat armour. Just make them cost $40 or so, and available in pretty much every general store. It shouldn't be that much effort to get the most basic protection in the game.

Hense the need for more work on it.
-
Well the barter system is crap, the cooldowns on crafting means selling armour is not really an option. Is anyone really going to spend an hour crafting metal mk 2 to sell it for a few thousand caps that have no use? Crafters can't produce enough to cover their own needs let alone anyone else's. As for this only helping high level players that isn't true, most humans have low health and are easy to kill when not in big groups. This would give a reason to actively look for human encounters since they usually cost more than you gain. Risking death for 20 xp and some shitty broken guns isn't really appealing. As for there being too many items in game, these armours will get used and lost to encounters so it should balance itself out since everyone uses armour. The reason there is tons of crap in game is because it is all crap. No one will ever want a mauser past lvl 3 so they build up places, same with the shotguns. All the low level weapons dropped are pretty much useless because anyone with high enough skill to repair can make better shit themselves.

too true

Well I Have a REALLY BIG Idea.. That Kinda Fits in With This.. I was Thinking NPC's Drop a Clothes.. The Image Looks like Leather Jacket.. But it Is Actually The Skin of the NPC.. So Basically The Name Tells You What it is.. For Example.. "Yellow Shirt" Then The Description Would Say What Weapons it Can Use :D
Thoughts??
-
seconded
-
yes there are many low lvl people who dont have armors as they lost them in next 5 mins so drop rate % its good idea for armors. "Better armor lower procent of chance" I agree and u can find armor that is not totaly destroyed and have let say 70-80% ? As for not udetable versions hmm kinda good idea " bloodstraided lether jacket"? hehehe sweet

I actually really like this idea. None of the problems that come with 'HELP I AM STUCK AS DOCTOR HOW DO I USE WEAPONS' as they can just take the armour off.
-
this script (npc = no loot armor) is come from Fallout 2 : the devs do that to equilibrate the game, who drop too many armor (too much easy, too much money) in Fallout 1
-
What the devs did in f2 to balance the game has no impact on fonline, its not the same game system.
-
FOnline is not Fallout 2.
Fallout 2 has one guy who would possibly need those armors (not counting followers); you.
FOnline: 2238 has hundreds of bluesuits running around, wouldn't it be much nicer to see them at least wearing a damaged Leather Jacket/Armor?

Yes I Think it Would Work.. And It Wouldent Be Too Hard to Code... ( as Far as I Know :D ) But If It Was Scripted. Skin Changes Will be Solved FOREVERR

This. It's ridiculous that damn near half our players are running around without the most basic shitty armour.
-
I'm pretty sure thats mostly because they choose not to wear it, rather than it being beyond their means to afford it.
In any event, allowing more wealth to enter from killing encounters would cause a great deal more problems than it solves.
-
Leather armour is more of a pain in the ass to craft than metal. Fibres are a bitch to get and golden gecko pelts are rare enough to make it pointlessly hard to make. Plus even if you have all the mats its like a 2 hour cooldown after you make the standard version and then another hour after you upgrade the damn thing. 3 hours for something you'll probably lose to a random crit knocking you out or spawning between a minigun and a rat. People want to use guns and armour, not make them.
-
Aye. Even crafting leather jacket is a pain if you just can't find the resources. Fiber is probably most annoying to find AND you need to find geckos AND brahmin before you find something that kills you.
You see so many blue suits because it's hard and annoying to get any better armour and so easy to lose one. Period.
-

Well, plenty of people want to make them too, but I accept the point of the lower armours being harder to make than Metal. Perhaps we could make some of the lower tech traders supply some of these types of materials to make it a bit easier.

agree with this, i always do not wear armor because "what if someone bombs" you dont need armor to chat or trade in ncr, so why somone would want to see everyone in armor there?

Anyone who enjoys crafting in this game probably also enjoys watching paint dry.

It really depends you know. I enjoy my crafting character because I don't want to make money with it and I'm not crafting all day. But anytime I can do some new items and use them afterwards it's the best thing ever. But being a guild crafter or alt crafter must be boring as hell.

Why so selfish?
Using your pattern I could say that anyone who enjoys PvP is mindless yeti. If I don't like some feature or way of gameplay, it doesn't mean that it needs to be deleted, or that people using it are screwed somehow. I don't enjoy standing near rocks like a dick during wedding, but I like making guns and ammo from those rocks - is there something wrong with me then?

This wouldn't stop anyone from crafting, most people can't craft armour and they can't rely on the 2% of the population that can. You can't have an armour crafter char that isn't shit at combat and if you don't have the time and resources to alt then the only source is vendors and you need high barter to effectively interact with them, another thing that rules out a combat char.

Some time ago I thought, that my char has to be self-sufficient and use only items that he can make on his own. But in this game, focused on interaction between players, it leads to nowhere.
My one and only char is 2 lvl Gunsmith Small Guns and 1 lvl Armorer, so I can craft almost every type of ammo for SG, and trade or exchange it with my friend, who's char is for example 3 lvl Armorer. Another one has a char with 3 lvl Gunsmith SG, another has a (except some combat skills) good barter skill, so he helps me selling my stuff for caps, and so it goes.
About time consuming - when I've made 200 pieces of .223 FMJ, cooldown is around 70 minutes, if I remember correctly. So I can go hunt something or dig some rocks. After digging 15 pieces of minerals and 5 pieces of ore (this amount I can carry on my own), I can make some gunpowder and metal parts, and make another 100 pieces of .223 FMJ, and there are still some resources left. This takes around 20~30 minutes of real time, and gives ~1500 xp (almost without risk to being killed in encounter). What am I doing during waiting for gathering cooldowns? Well, many things, that I have to do in real life - clicking "use on" every 6 minutes isn't that disturbing. Not so long ago it was 12 minutes - remember?
-
So your idea of playing a game is pushing a button every few minutes? What are you a lab animal? To answer your earlier question, yes I do think something is wrong with you.

I explained you with example, how to get 1500xp in 30 minutes, without sitting like glued to chair in front of computer. If you don't understand that, or you don't want to understand, it's not my fault.
It is disturbing.
No pain, no gain :>
-
I make about 10k xp every 30 min killing things.

With bare fists? You don't craft or barter, so how do you get guns and ammunition?
OK, I'm kidding. Only thing I can't understand is, why you complain so much. Crafting is bad, cooldowns are bad, economy is bad, players are bad (or, like all from Slavic nations, the worst). Man, try to smile sometimes.

Exactly, with bare fists. I made my character to avoid all the things I don't like about the game while still kicking ass and making bank. I have tons of weapons and gear in my base that I've collected with my hth chars, I just don't like using it. If I die I have to go all the way back home to reequip and there are finite amounts of stuff. Much better to wait a couple minutes, heal myself and get back in the game. Also few people expect a bluesuit to be able to take burst fire and still run up and beat you to death, the ones that don't run on sight usually die.
