Title: Amboy Tactical Tool
Post by: Caled on May 18, 2011, 07:48:21 pm
Hello wastelanders,

The Amboy Dukes faction is proud to release publicly the "Amboy Tactical Tool".

It plays audio files based on selected text in the in-game console. Triggered events are written inside the tool (over the fabulous Amboy Dukes logo!)

But there is more! It also starts automatically fraps when guns are in action. No more (nice, uber, kurwa) kills without its glorious memory in video.

Just watch this boring video, where you can hear the default sound set (fully customizable) and two stupid people:

Amboy Tactical Tool (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kljgLQLsTEw#)

Here is a screen of the program window:
(http://docs.star-killer.net/starkiller/Members/Caled/fonline_public/pictures/screen-png/image)

Without further delay, an explanation of the settings that you can change to meet your style:

In the audio section, put the text to trigger on and the audio file to play:
Code: [Select]
<audio>
<!-- You can add as much 'entry' as you want -->
<entry text="was killed" sound="dead.wav" />
<entry text="blinded" sound="blinded.wav" />
<entry text="crippled" sound="crippled.wav" />
<entry text="test" sound="test.wav" />
</audio>
Beware that the text is case sensitive. You can play more than one sound per pattern, and play the same sound for differents patterns.

In the Fraps section, you give the text which launches fraps, and the sound to indicate it :
Code: [Select]
        <fraps>
<!-- You can add as much 'start' and 'stop' as you want -->
<!-- But you can only have one 'on' and one 'off' -->
<on sound="fraps_on.wav" />
<off sound="fraps_off.wav" />
<start text="was hit" />
<start text="was critically hit" />
<stop text="*stopfraps" />
</fraps>
You can put more than one trigger.
To enable fraps control, you need to press the auto fraps button (allow you to disable it while PvE).

The last section is the timer section :
Code: [Select]
<timer>
<!-- You can add as much 'start' and 'stop' as you want -->
<!-- But you can only have one 'progress' -->
<start text="You gained 1 Perception" />
<stop text="You lost 1 Perception" />
<progress time="27" sound="drugs_fading.wav" />
</timer>
You give the start and stop conditions, and you can provide an audio warning at a given time after starting (in minutes).

If you want to disable a feature, just delete the line or rename the section.

WARNING : only the default start/stop command (which is F9) is supported for fraps, this will change in the future !

To make it work you just need to launch it and push the "start" button once the game is running. To test if it's working just type one of your pattern in the console (like test, or wilks or anything else).

To refresh the server info image, just click on it.

You can download it directly here (http://docs.star-killer.net/starkiller/Members/Caled/fonline_public/amboytacticaltool-7z/at_download/file)
Uncompress it with 7zip, download the soft here (http://www.7-zip.org/) if you need it.

And you can check updates and more on our forum: Amboy Dukes forum (http://forum.star-killer.net/index.php?topic=28.0)

More is coming !

Not even close.
If you don't want to use it I don't care, but stop talking about things you don't understand here.

There is no backdoor/trojan/keylogger or anything in it, so next time you accuse me you'd better bring proof with you.

Nice, saw it some time ago and resended to my teammates :>

Good job ;)
Most useful "feature" is for me, that this program use only ~10MB :> I think, that it could be less.. but this memory eater codecs.. :(

Keylogger & trojan included?
Decompile it for yourself and you will know...

But I'm not sure if it's fully "legal", because teoretically "third party programs" are dissallowed :(

Im sure this will be considered as cheating and wont be allowed as Janosik said. But the recording thingie is quite useful, lets wait for devs' opinion.

Granted that it's really not Malware, it's a nice idea. As it doesn't give a real advantage over other users I don't think it can be considered cheating.

AFAIK (didn't check the tool myself), there's nothing illegal with it, as it doesn't modify the data or the exe in a way that gives an unfair advantage over other players. Granted this was the case with FOCD at first too, when it was simply showing countdowns, then anti-anti-alt feature was added "silently", which is why we then reacted.

What, you mean the other features like auto aim, HP above head, and shortcuts to stimpacks, were OK? So we can have it again as long there is not this anti alt thingy that almost every players were deleting when getting FOCD?

No, but it was implemented later in a proper way instead of via an unstable exe dependant API hook hack. More such useful UI/bind functionality is coming after wipe, like reload and using drug by bind.

It does give considerable advantage for players using it. You have immediate info about cripples/blindings/weapon drops etc. You are able to track easily anything written in combat text and act to it.

No, it wont do anything instead of you, but its a huge interface improvement. Im surely going to use it if it will be allowed, just like the rest of pvp apes.

It's not just for hardcore PvP.
Some of our players are using it with funny sounds from star wars or western movies too.

But yeah PvP improvement is the reason we created it.

Yeah the timer thing doesn't work.
Currently it only detect when you take drugs and when they are out.

Drugs timer will be added soon hopefully, because it's a really needed feature.

There are soundeffects for going up a level while it is shown in textbox. There are soundeffects for certain effect events happening aswell which are shown as text too. Screw Black Isle for phasing out the need for text then.

Could you send it to me too? Or simply tell me what are the files with the voice, like I already have the tool and the game.

I tried it all the time already, but for some reason it won't export the sounds out of the gamefiles correctly, maybe it's working for you. :/
You need the game installed, then this tool: http://www.google.de/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=2&ved=0CCgQFjAB&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.idi.ntnu.no%2F~joh%2Fni%2Fdownload.html&ei=cZjuTemGKJCXOpHftZII&usg=AFQjCNErYUjoPzdEtmskEw2sNjh2EirqsA&sig2=WWsECwI0XvbVthhxe8xhHw

And this tool (put both in the same dir): http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/dl.php?s=IE M&f=IEmodding/acm2wav.zip

Then, open the application, go to the dir where you installed the game, and open "chitin.key". Browse through the /wav subfolder and look for the *NAM001-315 files. These are the ones in question (updated my journal, etc). You need to export them. My soundcard is doing weird shit with older game files so it doesnt work for me, would be fucking awesome if you could do that.

Also, sorry to caled for derailing the topic. ;P

is it somehow possible to bind a key with server status ? I mean - u press key 4 example "L" and in the game chat there is info like: "current player naumber: 173" ?

There is some problems about that:
I can't extract the number from the image I donwload. However there is a way to get this number otherwise the image couldn't be generated on the first place. If I have the information on how to get the number it's ok (Surf maybe you can help here?).
I can easily add a key to refresh the server info, but I can't synthesize voice from text, so unless you have 200 .wav for each number I can't convert it to voice.
I can't add the info inside the game chat as it would be a heavy hack on the client or would require a local proxy to insert network traffic.

The solution would be overlay display, but it is not something the soft have atm.
I will also search for voice synthesizer, 'cause it would be awesome for many things.

Use google's one. Also you don't need 200 .wav, you need 1-19, the word hundred, and 20 30 40 50 60 70 80 90.

@Surf: I dowloaded a corrupted iso, so i gonna need the link of the file you uploaded yesterday, hope you still have it.

That's why we (Amboyz) are looking for live text recognition. It's not so hard to implement and Caled has a lot of free time.

By the way thanks for the optimization  :D

Look at this python script, there you can see how easly it's made. It is just opening socket connection and send packet "0xFFFFFFFF", next you will recive 16 bytes which only 8 is useful for you...

As asked by Yoz, I added the option to disable the network related feature of the tool.
Just open the config file and change this to 0 as explained in comment.

Code: [Select]
<!-- Put 0 if you do not need or want network related features -->
<network value="1" />

All future features using network will be conditionned to this parameter so you can shutdown all network activity with it (even if it make me sad  :-[).

Since you were all busy on this thread, I will clarify some points:
 - As long as Surf says it's not a legal feature, the namecolorizing will not be added in the tool: You can go in another topic and try to get it legalized, but do not do it here. And even if it gets legal again it should be done by the client build-in mecanism for better perf/stability so I will not have part in it.
 - This is not the place to troll one another about programming skills and the knowledge of the word "decompile". If you want to look smart, make your own tool or change the logo on mine :D. Talking about that, since nobody get back at me after "threatening" to look for trojan in my work, I assume nobody found any and this paranoiac bullshit can stop.

I only let these talks go so far because Amboy dukes guys were busy all weekend drinking beers and listening to hacking conferences (http://www.nuitduhack.com/conferences-planning/2011-06-18) with smart-ass people talking about not-so-legal things (yep, I can play the "know more than you" game too).

Anyway, I'm asking Surf to remove posts related to "I have bigger disassembly skillz than you smart-ass !" and "Why namecolorizing is forbidden it's so cool !" for the sake of clarity and focus of this thread.

Thx, and keep using this tool  ;)

Caled, few suggestions | notes.

1) does not recognize damn russian letters :(

2) can you make it space sensitive somehow?

3) can you make it spell anything (for example nicks using microsoft speech engine?)

1) should be possible I think, it is not currently supported because I did not think about it :D

2) It is space sensitive and case sensitive so I don't understand your question.

3) I tried some text synthesis, but nick name do not come out good and forget about russian name :D (numbers are good thought, so maybe life indication or timer value, server population...). It is still wip.

Could you try to put in config russian letters in wrong coding? I mean something like this:
Code: [Select]
 ńâ˙çč ńî ńěĺíîé

Maybe it will work :)

Or if you can, could you write me this words in russian (I mean, I can translate it by a google, but maybe it can be different than in FOnline), I can check if my way will work or not :>

Hmm... What exact coding to use?
I want any word to recognize, for example "привет" - means "hello"
Appreciate if recognizing Cyrillic will  be possible, TLA, Goon Haven and Requiem guys will be thankful :)

Yep it works with wrong encoding ("ïðèâåò" in place of "привет").
The game do not use utf8, you can see it if you save the console log.
Instead it use Windows-1251 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows-1251) so I will have to convert the inputs.

It should not be too hard   8)

Edit : The patched version is up (link in first post) and work with cyrillic text encoded in utf8 in config.xml.
You can test the line I left for test and tell me if it works as it should.

Yeah the drugs thing trigger on cigs (both start and stop): In fact it start when it sees "You gained 1 Perception" and stop with "You lost 1 Perception".
Everything is in the config.xml file so if you have at least one sound right the rest should works too.
For example deaths are detected by "were killed" and "was killed" text: you can type it yourself in console to test it.

I post today to present a work-in-progress feature I am working on, and see if it's interessting for you guys and also if it's legal :D.
I know I said previously that I would not do namecolorizing in this tool, but I recently did something similar for fun (yet not so close technically speaking). Let's have a look :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUocBpKJIZw

It's an overlay system which displays faction logo over the head of faction members. It's in a very early stage but it will use a file similar to the old namecolorizing as config.
You can see that currently the display is not perfect, but I show here that I can use transparent images and display them according to the cursor position.

There is no release of the function yet because it is not finished, I just show it to get feedback on how to improve it/legalize it while it is still in developpement.

What if somebody wants to stay anonymous? What if the gang has no logo defined?

What if somebody wants to stay anonymous? What if the gang has no logo defined?

It is not my problem :D
Everything depend on the config file that you fill with names you know. The tool is not released with a full cartography of the server's factions.
By default nobody will have logo faction on him until you add them in your file.

So its like the old namecolourizing without the colours, but having logos instead ?

Exactly. Having the old namecolorizing done by an external program would require changing client code (by dll injection). Here I do not change client code.

Nope.

I think I found them:
http://www.fileplanet.com/39451/download/BG-Sound-Set-&-Portraits-of-Planescape:Torment-NPCs

But, although they are .wav files, they can't be played with Winamp or that kind of programs, only in "the game", which I think is only Bladur's Gate and not PS:T. The Amboy Tactical Tool won't play them either :(

I suggest using Foobar2000 (http://www.foobar2000.org/), a small utility program that let's ya listen, convert and save from a CD to a MP3 file your music! (other formats supported)

Won't work. I've even tried it with Cubase SX and it still whines that the files are encrypted. You can't do much against that.

All you can do is record the sounds while playing the game.

Then, some dedicated software. I knew one that allowed you to even edit files, jokin' with mixer, and stuff, but cannot rember name.

best option is
record the sounds while playing the game.
Windows got the tools to do so. I think.

Then i cannot help you. I tryed what i could.
The best think could be adding .wav and other format support for Amboy Tactical Tool then.

We will get those damn files!

Damn right! and we got them files (http://www.filefactory.com/file/cf4779a/n/Nameless_One.rar)! :D

I installed Torment (texts were in Spanish but the voices were the original ones), and downloaded those two tools Surf posted before (Near Infinity + acm2wav), I could listen to the files and even export them, but they could not be played by any other software. So what did I do? I played them with Near Infinity and recorded them with AD Sound Recorder.

The result was a lot of archives which could already be used with the Amboy Tactical Tool, but they had a little "silence" of about one second at the beginning: it was the time that passed between clicking "start recording" in AD recorder and then "play" in Near Infinity.

So I edited all the archives with Free Audio Editor and erased that silence: and now they are all ready for you to be used as you wish.

I hope you enjoy them! And of course thanks Caled again for this awesome tool!

As promised there: http://fodev.net/forum/index.php?topic=18719.msg154873#msg154873 (http://fodev.net/forum/index.php?topic=18719.msg154873#msg154873), I added the feature of binding keys to catch lines.
It works using the new section in the config file of the tool:

Code: [Select]
<catch_line>
<!-- The values for the key are the hexadecimal numbers founds here -->
<!-- http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd375731%28v=VS.85%29.aspx -->
<line text="My tummy feels funny!" key="0x65" />
<line text="Kurwa FA lemarc" key="0x60" />
</catch_line>

Self explanatory really.
As it opens and closes the chatbar really fast, I don't think PvP experience will be altered, but I didn't test it in action.
Also if you want total immersion, you can play a sound on your own catch lines by adding them in the <audio> section.

And please don't use it to spam the radio 0 channel :D

Of course it can, just change the key value in the line
<line text="My tummy feels funny!" key="0x65" />
with a value taken from http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd375731%28v=VS.85%29.aspx
(if it does not work well it is a bug because it is intended to and I tested it myself).

Wastelanders, it's about time I share my small Planescape: Torment version of this great Tool. All default sounds have been deleted and replaced with some of The Nameless One's lines, such as the famous "updated my journal" and "I feel stronger" :D

Keep in mind, this version is mostly for "aesthetics" and the default Amboy Tactical Tool is still a better choice for Real Time PvP combat, especially when using voice communication software. My advice is to back up your config.xml file and sounds folder before "installing" this version.
