I simply meant that, for instance, for a critical-based ranged character build, even on early levels, in turn-based combat it would be more beneficial to do one aimed shot at longer distance and move away with the remaining APs, thus prolonging the actual moment of taking damage against non-ranged opponents. Since weapon range also impacts your effectiveness, if I recall correctly, using a weapon with greater range but lower damage might actually be a better option until Small Guns is raised properly.Of course, I might be utterly mistaken in the above.Sorry for not being clearer.
It's incredibly easy even at lvl 1 to make a 10mm pistol which is superior in every way, you'd be better off using your fist than a pipe rifle.

Here's an idea. Make the pipe rifle craftable without needing a table. That would be useful when trying to get back on one's feet
agree with this and bumpwould love to see a 'pipegun' version too (one shot shotgun)less loot for the noobhunter pks = win
Unless you have good gear most pkers won't even bother picking it up, having a one shot gun just guarantees you can't defend yourself.
PKs sell 10mm pistols, shotguns and leather jackets to merchants in bulk. It is very lucrative for them.I would only use a single shot gun to kill critters and if a PK entered the encounter i wouldn't lose as much.
