well, it is the rogues were talking about, they have a strict, "You're not in our group eh? "whirrs minigun" "ratatat" Then your're with the Cheese Crusaders I presume." agenda (sorry, bad pun on my part...), you can't blame them cause they have one at least, and they're (the most numerous?) gang out there, i guess that they're just a bit bored, personally when i'm feeling bored i simply shoot people weaker than me...

Same thing has happened to me, too.

All in all, I try ro keep any town visits as brief as they can ever be, and currently stay in the guarded cities. Altough I used to like the free atmosphere of the north.

And a quick hint, to basically anyone out there: try not to attack anyone inside guarded cities, there are dozens of ways to trick you into doing that with little or no personal risk, and that's when the militia are heading up your ass. Believe me, I've been killed enough many times during crafting or bartering.

Amusingly enough, I made a brand new character a few hours ago, and for some unfathomable reason it only took me.. um... about nine hours to get a tent. On the other hand, I had none of the rampant near-death experience I did with my other character.

Which leads me to believe that the new one is an anti-Chosen One. Possibly with a "Blessed by Higher Powers" invisible trait. As well as "Curve Bullets" perk, apparently, regardless of what some unbelievers say.

However, thank you very much for the offer. There is apparently still some hope left for the FO community, if only because you're just one of a number of people that offered to help me. Although I will still attempt to fulfill the Quest for the Holy Tent of Peace on my own - if only because it's been a while since I had so much masochistic fun as I do playing the Chosen One.  ;D

You got killed by town militia, coz probably someone from our faction forced them to atack you. As long as Rogues control north towns, no one will pass through alive. Nothing personal, thats our politic.

not condeming or condoning, I pass through all northern cities without any reprisal :p

There are no guards in Broken Hills.  They were probably his mercenaries.

This happened to me, too.  I died 5 times when I made my first character, within as many minuites.  On the other hand, my current player went 2 days before his first death.  Coincidence? Kismet? Or did I just learn from my experiences? You decide.

When I started to play this game I was dying like once per 4-5 minutes, because I was living on north and only few times appeared on south and then died by a brahmin at Junktown.
This game was so funny when I didn't know about guarded towns, I thought that all towns are deathmatch-like, I can remember how I was running in bluesuit at Modoc, 2 or 3 other bluesuiters were chasing me, I stole an empty shotgun from a peasant NPC, then equiped it, and all bluesuiters ran away from me ^_^ Then a guy with grenades came and exploded me, and all bluesuiters ran to my body to loot that empty shotgun. Because of respawn point too close to Modoc, I was spending most of time there. And I can't understand why it's so hard to get a gun at this game, atleast before wipe I could get 10mm pistol or crappy shotgun right after respawning near town, at Den I stole something from gangster, half of town started to chase me but I ran away, then exchanged it for 10mm pistol with 2 or 3 bullets and then spent it on first player I met, who killed me with SMG burst after. At Modoc, pff, there're guns everywhere, just wait till someone come with grenades and kill everyone then someone will kill him, and while they will do that just loot someone's body, get that shotgun, don't care about that it doesn't have any ammo, and run away, then steal something and exchange for 4-5 12ga shells (you don't need more, because you'll not live so long). Also I didn't know anything about crafting and I was surprised when I saw a person who were digging an ore on encounter. First days of playing were the funniest moments of this game. But then I found damned shitty NCR and started to boring craft, after that game became a bit boring.
