Author Topic: Could we get a Dev's input on why permanent pvp locations won't be added  (Read 1267 times)


At the risk of getting banned again, it would be nice to have a real response with reasons instead of arbitrary rejection by gm's. TC requires a gang and supplies and takes time to do, there's nothing fun you can do quickly in this game and a pvp area would add this. It doesn't detract from the game in any way so I don't see why there seems to be such hostility towards anything fun. I mean you guys made the event, people like it, so why not add it?

TC requires a gang and replaceable gear, attacking ncr is boring and pointless. Neither of them are very fun, one is just camping and the other is just griefing with no reward. Also the other thread suggesting it was locked without any responses so it's not exactly a good example of "this thread already exists". You say no but never give justification.

Well, I see nothing wrong with regular PvP that is seperate from TC and requires no gang/supplies. The danger is that if you just left something like the Cathedral even trunning 24/7 it would quickly get boring because there is nothing really to achieve. An endless cycle of killing for no reason can only be fun for so long.

Allowing it to be available regularly so it remains a novelty and well populated would seem to be the best way to go about it.

Bascially not 24/7 ongoing, like a certain day of the week only.

wow has super simplistic (capture the flag, deathmatch) pvp areas that haven't changed much in years and people still play it regularly. Plus as for endless cycle of killing being boring what's more boring is less content. As it is fonline is already an endless cycle of killing with little in the way of progression other than leveling and then amassing weapons/ammo. If there was multiple pvp areas like a hth arena where you could compete for titles in the pipboy and have bets placed on it or a large outdoor map with 2 sides for team vs team dm it would just add things to do without upsetting the balance of the rest of the game as well as making it more open to casual gamers. Not everyone has the time to invest in joining a faction and fonlines player base works in multiple time zones making it even more difficult to find people to play with. Plus it would really help in tweaking the combat system as people would be more willing to try new builds/tactics when dying doesn't mean losing time invested in acquiring items to use.

Indeed, nothing wrong with the concept at all. But it needs to be better than the Cathedral open 24/7.

The Hub arena is something similar, perhaps PIPboy titles would encourage action there. Without a server announcement it doesn't see too much action currently.
