Increase in minimum dmg of some melee weapons.

Well mostly i starting thinking about this when i made my damage based melee character, i went for 10ST and heavy handed...also got first bonus
hth dmg perk and STILL my min dmg with a combat knife or crowbar for example is 3-23, i mean that 3 is just ridiculous.

I sacrificed toughness and other defensive perks to get pure power but still ive hit some enemies for 1-5 dmg with a combat knife (and i dont mean enclaves or BoS...some regular low/mid tier critters), thats just plain silly.
Its bad enough that we cant run while attacking, but even our damage can be total crap unless we use those really expensive toys like rippers
and super sledges which id prefer not to use untill much much later.

However hitting with 4ap sledgehammer or 3ap combat knife for 1 dmg couple times in row with a character that is supposed to deal heavy damage
is just...well sad. So increasing some basic melee weapon minimum damage would already do wonders to melee builds, of course i dont mean
that ripper, supersledge or cattle prod needs any boosts. Its just that it would be nice to use some of the basic weapons
without being horribly unstable in terms of damage.

As it is even unarmed damage builds offer much more stable damage and totally free of charge, even if melee weapons are
cheap and common they shouldnt be so horribly unbalanced. The maximum damage is of course nice, but most of time the attacks tend to be from
lower end for me atleast.

*PS* also while i made a melee topic, guess i can ask why isnt the wakizashi blade in the game currently ? it would be nice
addition for the small number of usable melee weapons, as currently almost all the good ones except for super sledge require ammo.

Yeah, I totally support you, on the condition that the melee weapons would get some boost for requirements (I mean the chance to hit should be lower but later with your melee char youll own) The thing is when you meet a Lone Wanderer hes owning like hell - like he had 10mm :) hehe. Yup ST should give some extra to the minimum dmg... moment it does? (forgot)

Yeah, and if the bonus hth dmg gave +2 dmg to min and max then that means the combat knife min dmg was 1-21  before i took it.
Lone wanderers do indeed own like hell, never see them do the low end damages more or less. Its just really frustrating
to hit the low end damage if you build your char to be powerhouse because you do less damage than with a mauser.

Being able to use melee weapon with success requires combining strength with criticals, and the very weapon you are making thread about is dangerous as hell...i went and found some critters to demonstrate..

And my Unarmed critical character (though only 14 right now), can still kick some caravan ass. I think one "solution" that could use testing is to add Better Criticals as an option for HtH characters.

topic is melee weapons.
Better crits is an option for HtH, you just make the right character to use it with, perhaps make a topic for this, but has it not been done already?

Hmm thanks a lot for the tip bob, i was just dreaming of combining mercs and melee, also because i loved melee power in fallout 2. Was so fun
to whack someone with super sledge and see them fly. Guess crits are only way to truly be successful with low tier melee weaps,
as in pure power the minimum dmg you cause is absolutely horrendous.

 What i was aiming for is having 3 mercs combined with hard hitting melee with rapid whacking ability, basically it would mean only torso hits...but
with 6 ripper attacks or 4 super sledge hits per turn. Thought that it would be nice combined with the mercs, as the build could get near maximum
melee damage (only would miss one bonus hth dmg perk from max) and 3 mercs with still enough IN to get 95% torso hit, good FA and half decent outdoorsman.

I guess the build would still be viable but its dependant on high end weapons, so ill try out making a crit based melee build to use untill i have more funding
to test around a bit, do you recommend going for better criticals or can i safely gimp my PE ? because trying to fit 6 PE into melee build seems hard so far.
