lol too high of rewards... how about like uh ... 100 caps or some shit .... even 50k worth of caps is a little too much for basic stuff....

the least they could do is hold a contest every month where the player with the most "reports" for the month gets a reward of 10 skill points or something

I mean exploits. Not bugs. Stuff like saying that a weapon gets broken when your armour does is bad for players as well, so everyone would willingly report it.
On the other hand, reporting that you are not attacked by guards if the path to you is blocked is not in the interest of griefers. Victims would still report it, but not everyone could figure it out maybe.

The rewards need to be huge and unbalancing for huge and unbalancing bugs. If you'd be some mean communist chinese PK griefer then would you really be happy if your exploit to get two AP rockets by dropping one on brahmin shit was deleted? Hell no. But if in return you could get an even more killer badass char that takes 2 minutes to kill rather than one minute before, then you'd consider reporting it.

Yes. It is a low move, but I just think a lot of people won't report exploits (bugs that are good for your character) unless they are either A) a good-hearted betatester, B) offered something better than the exploit.

Then our job is it to divide group A of group B. Players who aren't interested in reporting things and to help with the BETA shouldn't be able to play the game anyway.

Try the opposite first.

I lol'd. Also Alvarez I think you played too much MMOs pirate servers. Fonline is not about gods with 500% skill and pvping everyone, rather very well balanced game. If any, I would opt for cash rewards, but rather 1k, not more

Good luck on that, especially since it's open beta and the majority of players don't even have a forum account.

Message to everyone who says "Making the game better would should be enough reward for exploit finders": Try to think.

Few facts:
- Many people PLAY 2238 and not really test/report any bugs/want to make the game better. Most of guys with their gang and powerbuild just want to have an adventage over others. So if they find a money exploit that will easly get them 100k caps per day then I doubt they gonna tell it to anyone ESPECIALLY DEVS, because that's how they can have even more adventage over other factions and players. Many MANY pixeljunkies play 2238 and IMO they have to be tempted with HUGE rewards just like blah said.
- we will all be wiped sooner or later. You guys rather to say "Fuck it I dont want a extra 100 skill points guy running around, just let him have his exploit and have an infinity source of caps and weapons for eternity". Well I rather see a guy rewarded for telling the exploit than having that unreported exploit abused after next wipe and after another and another and another.

I vote for yes. Devs should reward and temp people to help them get rid of dangerous unbalancing exploits.

A list of bugs/exploits that devs are allready aware and they are working on a fix would come in handy, right?(just a short notice, not a guide on how to do it)

The bug with so called "kitting", when the whole enc is chasing you and your friend stands still in the center with 10mm pistol, making headshots untill hitting IK is well known I think.
2238 mob AI is much more interesting in this plan compared to TLA ( I didn't play much after wipe there, but if you encounter Group1 vs Group2 fights, they dont care about you untill all their enemies are dead or untill you start to loot bodies).

What about using some online bug reporting tools like this one?

It's quite handy, as it allows devs to manage the process of bug fixing by assigning tasks to team members and reporting about fixing status, it also informs the testers what information should they give besides "A fuckin' NPC won't talk to me. Fix this quick or I'll rape your dogz!" - game version, location, type of bug, reproducibility, severity etc. What's more, it has an option to make the report public or not - useful for reporting exploits because you shouldn't give everyone information like "run to X, you'll get countless caps there!".

Downsides? You need to register there to report and if the dev have some question about a bug, he only can get an answer if the tester checks responses regullary. But maybe there are e-mail notifications, I can't remember that because I've been using this only two or three times.

Ha!

Do you know what Kai Zen (continuos perfection process) is?

It's:

- Hi, i found a bug, it looks serious. Do i get something for it?
*thinking: damn, it indeed looks serious. How could i overlook something this poor sap just found, it makes me look bad.*
- Hi, i found it yesterday by myself, been working on it. GTFO.

Fortunately, it's only found in corporate sector, and found no way in FOnline. You make a good job, devs.

Yet still, should i find out, that the crate in my tent starts inexplicably to spawn HQ ore, i certainly WOULDN'T make such a foolish move to report it.
Yes, i'm selfish.
Many players are.
Would any of you do it, seriously? Will it make the game any better for you?
Next time you'll get killed in Broken Hills, you would remorse your decision.

Gameplay isn't any fun in FOnline. It's serious business.

You are playing a beta. Your virtual life is short.
The next wipe, that happens not too distant each others, you'll lose everything.

Good luck on that, especially since it's open beta and the majority of players don't even have a forum account.

Most people don't seem to understand what bugs are let alone write one up properly. That's why game testing companies have about a 10% acceptance rate for applicants. It's quality not quantity that's important.
