Luck not very useful stat
« on: April 23, 2010, 08:51:05 pm »

I did a search for what Luck effects currently and came up with this.

Luck reduces the probability that a critical shot bypass our armor or being blind.
(see critical tables)

Luck modify effect in critical fail
(see Partially reverse-engineered Fallout 2 combat algorithm)

Some rumors tell about best repair or best dissassembling ..
(see The library of rumors)

Is this all it effects? because it seems Luck is pretty useless statt unless you take for those perks.

Yes you get +1% crit but if I am Sniper I can get perks to give me high crit chance and can spend points elsewhere to give better survivability

Actually 1 luck is really bad when you are using Rocket Launcher - it tends to explode in your hands. Same goes with other weapons - you tend to lose ammo or even destroy your own weapon by pressing the trigger - its really annoying I even think about take luck 5 just to stop that things.

My sniper has 6 Luck, which is needed for the "perks that give you more critical chance". And weapons that can explode do explode more often, like flamers, and previously mentioned rocket launchers.

Okay so anyone know the formula for exploding weapons? You say it only effects flamer and rockets yes?

Luck is used for every aspect of game. Even avoiding encounters is influenced (slightly) by your luck. It's a general stat that changes everything, but changes it by a little bit only.
And with 1 luck you'll destroy your weapons faster than you can buy them.

The formula is:
The lower the luck, the higher chance that a miss will cause a critical miss. And with low luck a critical miss can (for every weapon):
- Make you lose your turn.
- Make you lose your turn and hurt you.
- Make you lose all your ammo inside weapon.
- Make you drop your weapon and lose your turn.
- Destroy your weapon completely.

For explosive and energy weapons additionally, destroying the weapon means it explodes causing damage. The better the weapon the more damage you will receive.

dont take it if you find it useless. Other stats like charisma are much more useless so not for "luckers" to complain.

Luck also determines how much you heal each time you use FA.  10 luck will make you always heal the maximum, 1 luck will make you heal a pitiful amount.

Lol can you be less vague please. I'm pretty certain luck is not factored into all calculations.

If I wasn't that vague, it would be exploited probably. Of course it's not used in all calculations, but more and more.

Well, as for luck it gives you:

- +2,5% (3?? - I don't know if it's rounded up or down) to a critical chance when aiming a head per each point,
- +3,5% (4??) to a critical chance when aiming eyes per each point,
- +1 or 2% to a critical chance when aiming any other body part per each point,
- LUCK% * FA skill to a minimal amount of hp healed with FA,
- Reduces critical miss effects,
- Reduces chance of getting blinded or having armor bypassed when taking a critical hit,
- 6 Is required for following perks: toughness, bonus ranged damage, more criticals and better criticals (6 is a must-have for any combat oriented character)

Does luck affect the roll on critical table (the effect of the crit)?
