Maybe this has been up, if that is so, then please just ignore it.
What i am thinking about is that maybe a sequence advantage system could be something to think about.
for example, if you are third char to act in a group of five combatants, you can have a choice as to being last in the next turn (activated when current turn ends) and in the following turn you may go first.
Turn one. activate ability, and take a normal turn.
turn two. act last.
turn three. act first.
This would need some balance so that chars with low sequence to begin with can't use it (since they actually dont loose/risk anything). Maybe activated once per combat or something similar.
Any ideas?

no, if you could act last in turn 2, then you should act last in turn 3 and so on, otherwise it would just suck.
