We do actually have a perk that forces the critical death animation when using melee while also giving a typical finisher-bonus, dealing extra damage for % of target hp missing. Another important factor are the 100hp ou have to bridge between 0 and -100 in order to get soemthing other than the bleed out animation. There actually are not a lot of weapons that consistently deal over a hundred damage.

In the pvp tests we had proved, that just dealing a bit of damage to an enemy and then run back to cover is an entirely different thing than actually securing a kill, making sure the target can't be revived due to crit animations or due to the position having been secured by your team.

Another aspect of the combat system is that it focuses on team play. Randomly shooting each other will most likely end in a draw as everyone is able to heal themselves (until bandaged gets too high, which decreases FA effectiveness) But at the same time, there are alot of possible synergies, making it possible for a small, specialized fire team of just 4 people to turn the tides of any larger battle through using secondary skills or through risky moves with more offensive item choices like leather jackets for brof, afterburner or voodoo for extra AP regen or movement speed, offensive rather than defensive leadership boosts and weapons that deal burst-damage rather than sustained dps.

What I'm trying to say is that just running around in phoenix and meeting other players in open pvp you can allow yourselve to make more mistakes as it doesnt immediately end with a failed 1hex, but that in the larger group fights, there is much more potential to decide battles throughs trategy and tactics rather than individual reflexes.

I'm not sure if it would help in PvP, considering alts and fast relogs, depends
how easily people can come into the location with alts (if they can at all), how
the maps are made etc.
Getting rid of the alting, dual- and fastrelog problems was one of the key points we wanted to keep in mind from the design stage on. I think apart from some out-of-this-world hardcore quadruple loggers playing 4 chars on 5 proxies on 2 computers at the same time, that sort of cheating isn't worth it, simply because you run the risk of getting banned and have to invest extra ressource both inside and outside of the game at no noticable gain and I really doubt it will be a mass phenomenon. The funny thing is, even if it became one, weaker teams that can't quite take part in the big actions could specialize on fighting the fast relog alts of the big teams that are trying to get back into action so that whole problem fixes itself.

There is no need for dual logging in AoP. If you're doing it, that has to mean you're trying to take advantage by fighting with multiple characters. And yes, that's worth a ban.

Dual logging really? How do you use 2 alts to fight, it's worthless man or maybe you mean using dual log to barter items or sth :D Anyway all cheaters which take advantages in fights should get banned. It's noobish 8)

Hello everyone!

Development on Ashes of Phoenix has been really intense during this summer, and thanks to your support and feedback, we've been able to bring multiple improvements to the game. Now, it is time for the launch.

Friday the 5th of September, the public server will be officially open for everyone. That means you'll be free to download the game client and jump into Arizona with all of us and start the adventure!

In a couple of days, game rules will be posted on our forums and the installation procedure page will be updated. We'll post an announcement about it before launch day so you can perform the game installation already if you wish. The exact hour of the launch and some other details will be given at the same time.

This version 1.0 is just the beginning of the Ashes of Phoenix journey though. We have plans for the future weeks and months, and you can expect the game to evolve regularly. We'll talk about this in more detail in a few weeks. You can also expect us to ask your opinions about features of the game, both existing ones and new ones that we plan to introduce. Thanks to those discussions, we hope to develop a better game that corresponds to your desires, and also give you a clearer picture of our vision for Ashes of Phoenix in the future. This game is about combat, exploration, survival and politics, and all those aspects have not been equally developed yet. There is much more to come!

On top of that, in order to allow everyone to take a look at raw footage straight from the battlefield, we will host a livestream on twitch.tv on August 30th, 8-10pm CET, showing live zone control in action.

We hope you'll have much fun playing AoP and we want to thank you for your support which is extremely helpful, boosting our spirit and giving us the energy we need to continue on. We hope you're as excited as we are to start plundering Phoenix with all our friends!

See you soon in Arizona!

Thanks for the link Leon!

fonliner, sure a lot of people don't care at all or just want Fallout 4, but if this article allows us to reach some interested people, Fallout fans or not, that is much welcome.
