Players voice! the results
« on: April 28, 2013, 01:50:06 pm »

So we had a player voting for 9 days in this topic http://fodev.net/forum/index.php/topic,28912.0.html and now i think time has come for results, and some conclusions, for what player wants.

So we have 128 voters total, from all around world, which is about 3x the current average online server population, so I make a conclusion, that the majority of players (and probably gm's/devs) expressed their opinion. Special thanks to polish players who were the most active in voting.

Now lets go straight to results and their analysis, everyone is welcome to discuss and say your opinion about them, just please better consider making a good point or solution rather than random bullshit, like game is dead.

Question 1

The results show, that a little more server population 59 (53%) over 52 (47%) liked the old drugs more than the current.
My personal opinion to that: people think that old drugs opened up a bigger variety of possible builds, and variety in RPG is always good. Also drugs with negative side effect which kicks in after some time added more tactical/strategic thinking into the game, as you were pretty much fucked up if you used your drugs too early and the negative effect kicked in at the middle of battle.
Also i would like to notice that only 13% (17/128) voters voted that they havent tried drugs, but i think this percentage is much bigger, since only real pvp apes usually play on the drug builds. For what opinion the cheaters voted we can only guess.

Question 2

Well this one is pretty clear: players want timed tc windows, like it was in OBT3 (and maybe 4th dont remember) session. My guess is that the reasons for that are:
1)players in this system cant take towns, when others are sleeping, so they know when to defend their towns.
2)it allows more tactical choices, since now if you lose a battle after town takeover, the other gang will just retake the town, but in the old system if you stood your ground successfully till timer ended, your reward will be bigger than loss (or if you will happen to put all gear in locked town locker the reward will be all, and winner takes it all seems fair)

Question 3

A message to devs is sent: current trading system is crap. Now all traders have very little caps, and players do want more of them, also players want to sell their low tier shit found in encounters at least for some caps, rather than leaving all that shit to rot in tents/bases. Also base prices in traders are bad, as they dont depend on bartering skill and they lower the need of barter skill for people, and they also ruin the trading between players, as they are making prices of all items constant.

Question 4

(54.5%) 61 of the voters against 51 (45.5%) say that the old fast shot trait was better and should be returned. A reason for that would probably be the same that i mentioned before: it lets you vary your builds, and variety in RPG is always good.  The argument, for nerfing was shot, was that it was giving no drawback, but actually it was giving drawback, and the builds is good when it is made so that your drawbacks are hidden and bonuses shown well. Traits like small frame has no drawback in pvp, and fast shot had, so the argument was fail, and so as the decision to nerf fast shot.

Question 5

Well this is a close one. If we ask which system was better, we have two evenly strong opinions. Also if we ask in general, what was better: junk barrels era with no hq resources or the new era with hq mines we also have almost even answer (26+33 against 25+33). So in here no strong conclusion can be made and devs opinion should be the one that matters here.

Question 6

In here it seems that blueprint system is a winner, but it would be very wrong to think like that. If question would be only what profession system was best, it would be 70 over 41 players saying that blue print system is worse, so the conclusion is that people like the 3 profession crafting system much more, and the crafting timer cooldown in such system is another object of discussion.

Question 7

Well this is also very clear, current merc system sucks. Paying for mercs that you already have paid sucks totally, as most mercs stand in tents/bases anyway so its really crappy feature. Also attack anyone / attack enemies of faction /attack anyone except my faction options should be returned. Merc leaders were also builds that added variety to game and once more i can repeat that variety is always good in RPG game.

Question 8

Well first message in here is that no one likes the current system. while it seems that the most players in this vote would just like to have old stuff like ba back in game, but the real meaning is a little different also since in answers 3 and 4 the weapons and armors included all or almost all in f1/f2 so it would be correct to assume that majority of players wants all weapons/armor of orginal fallouts unlocked, so devs should strongly consider adding weapons like pulse pistol in game, instead of improving weapons like plasma pistol. Same with laser rifle/pulse rifle and all other weapons.

Question 9

Well since most players voted for adding all/almost all f1 and f2 content to game it is quite good to discuss if bozar should be minigun or sniper rifle. I personally voted for minigun, but i understand why the bozar was voted to be sniper rifle. In case of adding the weapon to game, it would be nice to see sniper builds that require 7 str, which would add variety, and as said many times before - variety is always good in RPG.

Question 10

Well I have to admit, that i have no arguments to agree the results of this question voting. Personally i think that some time before, we had a good grenadier builds, which were equally strong as bg/snipers and added more variety to game. They were not op, they were just strong and mostly acted as support in real pvps, because they did low damage. Now we dont really have grenadier thrower builds, except sneakers, but it is more of a sneak than throwing build, so its hard to say why players voted that it should be like that.
Also only 14% has voted so, that they havent tested both system, while the true number should be around 50%, so maybe the results are so because of that, but i cant say it clear without having a proof. Maybe other players can share your insights why you voted for this opinion.

Question 11

Well sneak bursters were not liked it seems according to the voters. In my opinion silent death bursting was cool feature, just it needed some tweeks rather than removing it. If the critical modifier would be adjusted i think all players would be cool with sneak burst, as it would expand the variety of builds.

Question 12

Well this poll is also really doubtful for me, as according to results 80% of players community play unarmed builds, and the real number shouldnt be greater than 20%. So i will make my personal conclusion, that players playing with sg/bg builds were just butthurt by losing to unarmed. The current heavy handed is made in such way, that now no one uses it and choses much better critical based unarmed builds, which lowers the build variety mentioned before, and if you think it is good, well i can say if you say so...

Question 13

The last vote is easy, as players have common opinion about it, the current shit shoveling system is shit. Most of players dont shovel shit anyway, but its a rookie players activity, and harshing it when most rookies are quiting anyway is not logical at all, so it would be best for all if devs would admit their mistake and correct it.

So here are the vote results along with my conclusions. Do you have some other conlusions, or what do you say in general?

My conclusion: Poland Strong!

Edit: No seriously there can`t be good conclusions - opinions except for barter and shit shoveling are very diverse.

For the heavy handed thing:
It should be around 75% then both players would have a chance at success.

For weapons from FT/F1/F2:
By voting for that option i meant to add weapons like the m16,pulse pistol,ak47,308 sniper,7.62 avenger, that one weird energy pistol, etc.
Not the goddamn gauss minigun(and yes such a weapon exists).

well talking about gauss minigun, it wouldnt be too good weapon, if we would have better armor so... :) I think these 2 categories are really related, and if we add one, we add another, it just balances itself :)

For armor:yes(not power armor).
The ranger and brotherhood armor could be added along with some others(for instance some armors from new vegas could be added but this is more of a 3d thing) but I think they would be better off with some nerfs and buffs.
For example: make one be really good against normal damage but weak to energy,or maybe make one good against both energy and normal but weak against fire and explosive.

Might add to the variety.

Nothing really wrong with helmets.
But wait until 3d arrives, then enjoy looking at brotherhood paladins dressed as raiders and every single NPC being dressed exactly the same even tho 3d was meant to abolish that.

yes, the preparation could have been better, by asking other players on what we should vote, since after vote start you cannot add questions in survey, and deleting all the already inn results wouldnt be fair, so i kept the poll same from start to end. Anyway, i think we should first see if devs are listening to players opinion, because if not, then there will be no need in voting on other features of the game.

I'm surprised how many want the old merc system back then again I rarely do any faction play/need guards but as a dedicated merc leader I love the current system (Then again I enjoyed the attack anyone even it were just to protect me from annoying sneakers while turning in slaves.)

well i see nothing wrong in current merc system, companions and all are ok, just that jet needed for slaves and caps for mercs is total crap. If it would be removed it would be cool, since you pay for mercs and you need to keep paying for something you already payed. It would be same as crippling someones arm in fight, and he still can use his 2 handed weapon.

talking about attack anyone option it was great, merc leaders were a decent pvp build with it, it was good to ambush hq mines to hunt pkers in them with mercs and all, now you need to control yourself and your mercs in the same time, what leaves merc leaders in out of pvp zone and i see no racional reason why someone could like that :)

also current system almost disables any pvp capabilities for the merc leader character itself, as all merc leaders have to have high OD, now they have to have high speech also, most of them need high FA for slaving and all, so not much left to put on combat skills.

I find it stupid that companions/slaves/mercs lose loyalty when you log off.

Man why do you even care? You already stated that you do not give a fuck about this game yet you keep coming back to tell us how you don't give a fuck, and how nobody else gives a fuck. And that we shouldn't think that anyone gives a fuck.Instead of bitching about an indie game on some low life forum you could actually be playing a good game. But no people must know that you do not care.
And the best way to show them is to waste time at their shitty forum, right?

You could also grammar.
