Here's an idea, make an IN requirement to even use books (8 for example). If the stat requirements are "bent" to be incompatible with the current PVP builds, only hybrids and PvE players will want to use them.

Bad idea, it wont change anything.

If You rly want some IN requirements, it could be like that:

With 1IN You gain 1-3% skill per book.
With 2IN + 2-4%,
3IN + 3-5%,
4IN + 4-6%,
5IN + 5-7%,
6IN + 6-8%,
7IN + 7-9%,
8IN + 8-10%,
9IN + 9-10%,
10IN + 10%.

If you have more IN then it meen that You are smarter so You have to spent less time to learn the skills.
This way is much more player friendly.

6IN + 6-8%,
7IN + 7-9%,
8IN + 8-10%,
9IN + 9-10%,
10IN + 10%.

This sounds pretty cool. However I would change it a bit. When reading a book you would gain certain amount of skills points that are automatically spent on the skill that book boosts.

To make it more clear: You read a First Aid book with 8 IN, you wouldn't get direct increase to your First Aid, but 8 SP that are spent on First Aid. Meaning that when you have more than 200% FA, your FA would be increased by 1 (over 200% skill increase costs 6 SP, remaining 2 SP would be deleted or maybe stored for next book use). And if you have less than 100%, your FA would be increased by 8 and so on.

This way it doesn't really matter when you read books.

e. Of course this would require "gainedSP = IN+5" or something similar to keep it fair for characters with 1 IN.

How 'bout you only get a skill boost from a book that is in your inventory. You carry that book and you get a slight skill boost. You go out without the book(s), you do not have them as reference when you need them - no boost.

Also books take damage over time as you carry them and become unreadable (beyond repair).

I dont think it will change anything, 100% in one skill wont do much, better to make 300% alt. It wont hurt the gameplay, but I prefer this solution:
Cumulative temporary 100% bonus to skill per book, while books being quite cheap, would have better effect on alting.
They can be read or carried just like Marko proposed.

Dont tie it to any stat please.

I dont like Marko idea - coz it wont change anything, its another time consuming solution and thats why its bad.

Sarkin You are wrong 100% is enough to get all crafting professions and to make such a build quite usefull in PvP/PvE also.

Things which are temoprary - creates more alts, which is bad !

My suggestion improved by Opera ideas is just perfect. When devs will deal with FR such a build with fighting skills and other abilites will became more popular.

What would You chose, waiting for 10min CD to relog or move to Mariposa and craft with PvP ape?
Markos and Your idea with temporary bonus will make this simply but necessary task even more complicated.

Yes and apes can boost fa and doc to min 100% skill and some out to get faster from respawn. And maby we can change current repair system So we can increase final armor detoration with support perk. For example we are repairing ca mk2 45/76% with 15/43% So we can get after lucky roll 60/80%

Your suggestion would make crafting possible with every char, yes thats doable with your suggestion. But you would still need alts for sciencing stuff (300% science alt), repairing (300% repair alt), lockpicking (300% lp alt) and so on, for every skill to squeeze max of it, you would still need an alt.

With my way of boosting skills, you would just need one char for all professions and thats it. (or none, if devs decide to remove prof requirements)

Not true, im siencing with my PvP ape and its get almost same number of stuff as my sinencer, i just wasted the time lvling the siencer.  Same thing with repair - since CA mk2 are farmable there is no need for high repair. Lockpicker - i made the Ares run with lockpick 120 + advanced lockipic set, lockpicked all lockers.

300% alts are only in Players minds.
