Changes that will improve the gameplay

Horatio:
I like how the bonus is affected by IN, Wipe, the books as modifier in general.

Books are needed to improve practical knowledge. It would be illogical if a combat char of 24lvl will suddenly read books and get as smart as some scientist who read it in beginning of his career.

So consumed books could give a perk improving SP gain for only certain skills.

Black Widow:
So like i said 5% per book up to 100% and u Have 1h cd. And u can buy Them or farm Them from caravans. 100% is crap but some just could 1int chars bg :)

Pool of given skill points amount is predefined. For fast example, let it be constant here, but may be as well based on IN of character (during registration, so no item/drug/whatever buffs count).
- after reading 1st book, you get +30% to connected skill
- after reading 2nd book, you get +25% to connected skill
- after reading 3rd book, you get +20% to connected skill
- ...
- after reading 6th book, you get +5% to connected skill
- after that, you just waste time...

That gives 105% in total  to distribute among skills - not enough to make jack-of-all, but good enough to boost one skill to average level (if we read only one book type) or add this few points missing to whatever few skills. I know it kinda lacks of logic here but hey, it's 2238 :P Other thing - how books could be found / how rare they will be, strictly depends on how they're supposed to work... with a way described by OP, chance is pretty low.

Before Doctor Ann will post it - nop, it won't change alts number drastically, maybe few % will consider books when calculating best build evar, but trusting that one feature will change players mentality is simply bad. Let it be just a smaller part of alts hate, game need more elements included to lower their percentage.

Comments, enhancements, gtfoMYgaem, etc?

i like this idea.
also price sould raise exponetially.
500 for first book.
1000 2nd
2000 3rd
4000 4th
8000 5th
16000 6th
...

or just make a fix price of 1000 caps and cap the points from the book to max 100%.

Black Widow:
Yes top skill u can learn from book should be 100%. It could be good for solo players.

Trokanis:
So no books for side skills that have not real combat effect on the game other than to allow a character to do more things while not in combat.  Rather let's just throw alts at it...  I remember 2 years ago when the prevailing thoughts among the devs was less alts.  I miss those days.

BTW I love the idea, I don't think them adding combat books is a good idea though.  And as far as waiting to spend SP, if you're gonna get the SP from the books anyhow, people are gonna spend it on the things they want, Combat skill, OD, fa, and such.  It won't make things much different than they are now, if you want to make a decent multipurpose char you dump the sp into combat til you are ahead of the perk requirements then put it into your secondaries, by then you're 9+ and you move on.  Great idea keep hashing it out.
