Changes that will improve the gameplay
DocAN.:
I would like to see the books back in the game. This is how the books could improve the gameplay:
Chemisty Jurnals - reading the books will boost the traps skill permamently up to 91-100
Big Books of Sience - reading the books will boost the sience skill permamently up to 91-100
Deans Electronics - reading the books will boost the repair skill permamently up to 91-100
First Aid Book - reading the books will boost the first aid skill permamently up to 91-100
Scout Book - reading the books will boost the outdoorsman skill permamently up to 91-100
The Lavenders Flower - reading the books will boost the speach skill permamently up to 91-100
The books can limit the number of alts. Players will play more often on 1 character since they will be able to take most of the crafting profession without spending SP. They will have SP to spent on barter/doctor/lockpicker and some combat skills. Each player will have enough PP to have some followers.
Suggestion could be improved by Operas idea:
--- Quote from: Opera on November 30, 2012, 01:08:47 pm ---This sounds pretty cool. However I would change it a bit. When reading a book you would gain certain amount of skills points that are automatically spent on the skill that book boosts.
To make it more clear: You read a First Aid book with 8 IN, you wouldn't get direct increase to your First Aid, but 8 SP that are spent on First Aid. Meaning that when you have more than 200% FA, your FA would be increased by 1 (over 200% skill increase costs 6 SP, remaining 2 SP would be deleted or maybe stored for next book use). And if you have less than 100%, your FA would be increased by 8 and so on.
This way it doesn't really matter when you read books.
e. Of course this would require "gainedSP = IN+5" or something similar to keep it fair for characters with 1 IN.

Black Widow:
Or Lets buy Them from library and give 2h cd
+5skill per book and 1k for 1book
falloutdude:
agreed I allways liked on russain servers be able to do minor stuff without wasteing SP.
Alexandrite:
I like this idea, not to mention that getting professions easier w/o using SP...

Wouldn't complain. Those books would make it possible to make a all-round crafter easier.
However:
Skill bonus boosts just have the effect that player's wouldn't want to spend skillpoints in their skill before they had read the book to maximize the bonus. Have a look at for example gunrunners guard SG bonus: no sense spending skillpoints in SG before you have taken the bonus.
This means that a player who didn't have a book would have to wait to get one before spending skillpoints. If he can't have the book, he's best to reroll his char once he gets it.
