Roleplay in the Wasteland
« on: October 26, 2012, 02:13:30 am »

I am new to this game but I would like to try an restart the RP community in the wasteland, for as far as I have seen it is a dead community. I may be wrong, if so state your in game name an stuff an let's RP sometime. I am a serious RPer an think this game has a lot of potential.

My main char is StarzSuicude but I made a new char for RP, I'll post it's info here soon.

Turn-Based PKs with proxies and dual logs will ruin it.

Most casual players are gone for a good reason.  :P

I don't rp that hard, but I like to talk to everyone as if im actually in the game alot. Not all the times though..say if someone has a question or something about the game, Or if I have a question about how something works, or just want to know where a person is from. But for most part I like to not talk like I am playing a game.

Simplest RP is to set up goals and limits for your character and play according to these.
Its a poor way but manageable since there is no outside force that can ruin it. I mean if you decide to play as a pacifist not harming anyone then its only you who can change that, or if you join VC and go around the city helping out the guards or helping out fellow VC members its your choice again. Although its not as deep like making a complete BIO for your character but doing things in small can be fun too and its more likely that you will be able to stick to that.

I roleplay a mechanic at his garage base who tries to repair a old prewar truck. I hope to get it running soon.

Roleplay in the Wasteland
... can't be the fully roleplay - why? Because of its gameplay style and priorites of plaers, and standing near barrel in NCR isn't that quite roleplay, and you cannot do it normally, because other players might don't want to do it, so they just kill you for teh lulz, instead you can try in closed groups in some secret place but it gets fast boring, its like bugged forever feature.
But if any pvp faction is interested into it, it may work, but it will end sadly (WWP, TSAR in Redding, RDA in den).

Go to places abandoned by PvPers and PKers, like Necropolis or New Adytum.
Explore those places, but when you go to Necropolis make sure you have a guy who knows his way around, because you might get lost.
The sewers and the V12 in necro often have some loot in them left by players who were killed by swarms of rats(I once even found a laser rifle).

First rule of roleplay is not to talk about roleplay.

GM Roleplayers are the greatest. Check Dornan for that, because he can get items by himself.

I think I remember him doing the whole "Welcome to Camp Navarro, YOU ARE OUT OF UNIF-" speech in the middle of NCR while using APA skin. It was good for some lolz, I once Role-played as a Nazi along with some other guys dressed in black leather jackets.
I also seen some people try to role-play in NCR, it did not do well, bursters killed them off very quickly.

I think I'll stick with what AVV just said.

A new player has just came up and stated that she was a roleplayer. I went through the laborious process of telling her that even mentioning roleplay in NCR will get you bursted, let alone doing it. Lo and behold, I got FN FAL'd right in front of her for just mentioning. Let's see if I can quote this right.

"I like to roleplay a mass murderer who kills roleplayers."

So that's about the response you can expect from the majority of the player base.

Crosser's idea isn't a bad one either, I suggest you don't declare yourself as a roleplayer though. It's almost as good as calling yourself a furry or a brony or something to that effect.

That's why this server needs PvP flags if it wants to garner to casual players instead of childish pricks.

I've had a successful roleplay tea party in NCR with Ben Gorgon, another guy, and a mutant before, lasted for like an hour and we didn't even get bursted :D
