Just got owned in the mine of Gecko.
Not upset about it. I am upset that i was owned without pretty much any warning or anything.

2 dudes, 50 slaves with guns.
its utter bullshit.

I again repeat, i don't mind people controlling mine. But appearing inside of 50 slaves - is just wrong.

Suggestions that will not break game play are actually simple.
In location where there is ambush certain things should be checked.
First of all, whenever attacker is hiden or not. Than there should be check for perception, intelligence and outdoors man and to lesser extend big/small/laser guns.

Logic behind it, if you are real person and you go to mine and you EXPECT, and you do EXPECT, visitors there, you stay sharp. You have high perception/outdoorsman - you can feel rotten bodies of ghouls/smell of urine of some other people. If they don't hide - its even easier to spot them. No crying of birds, no geckos running around, all that counts. the bigger the crowd the easier its to spot them. The smaller the crowd, the better their sneak skill - the harder its to notice them.

So you see my logic. i did come across negative opinion of others in IRC. But before you say anything please use arguments like I do.

so technical suggestions:
1) make check, give warning. Similar stuff to random encounters.
2) give option of appearing in random spawn on the map in case check has succeeded and player decided to go into location. Simply having 50 zombies shouldnt be enough for 3-4 heavelly armored/gunned pvp chars.

It would make game much more fair.

i smell butthurt.
they camp mine because they know noobs like you will cry and call apk to kill them. then people who want pvp go to kill them. go to a different mine and get over it. all that miners lose is a hammer its not a big deal the people camping the mine just want pvp and this is how they get it.

I see SoT is becoming apk faction, keep up good work!

To teh suggestion: We need just previews, nothing more.

mines are supposed to be dangerous, no need for preveiw. all miners take is a hammer anyway if they bitch that they lose that then they really should just leave this game.

Adding preview wouldn't make the mines safe, I don't know what are you talking about.
Unguarded towns have preview and they are dangerous.

It would just prevent you from dying in one second shot by 20 ghouls without seeing anything.
If anything it would make location more equally dangerous for campers and incomers.

They could have preview and 2 entrances to choose.

yes it would make the mine safe, think about it if I can see all the slaves/ players from the world map. why would I enter? I would go to other mine. also again sense gms can see all the map (players can't huurrr durrr) we can't see a whole unguarded town and can only see a max of 54 hexs in it. 54 hexs is not alot and most of times pks are  in a unguarded town camping inside a building waiting for traders or sneakers so can't see them anyway. with 54 hex veiw i could see allmost all of gecko mine and see all of the slaves/players. mind you I cant see inside the actual mine but rarely do pks really camp inside a mine.

You would be right if preview would include whole map and inside of the mine and sneakers.
But it doesn't and you are wrong.

It's enough that you can't see all. You also can't see what's inside.
Also spawns can be always moved a bit. But location is dangerous anyway.

We don't need preview, simple check i proposed will suffice.
Will be super awesome if the check for enemy is positive leader could make whole team who stepps on soil sneak and appear randomly on map.

If there are 5 people with no slaves and very high sneak and outdoors man - they should pwn noobs like me. I have no problem with ownage. Just how its implemented. No one of you commented on what I have proposed, given REASONABLE criticism.

I like that dogs barking, no crying birds, all this sounds fancy. But if you will require perception,
intelligence and outdoors tests to be notified what is inside, people will be making "preview alts".

It's also easier to simply add previews and entrances, which are in other locations already than
code a completely new solution. You have to think when check would be made, where warning
would appear etc. A message like this could look a bit weird, in the end it's not text-adventure.

I am no developer but i understand how programming works. I work with computers on daily basis, as IT personnel.

check must be done on EVERY location(perhaps cities can be exception, but than warning should possibly be there), on every mine every time someone enters.
If there is access to source  code of application - its not a problem to add function of outdorsman check. It's already there! Modifying perception and sneak checks could be more difficult, but I am guessing can be done.

I did not mean literal bird singing or gecko running around. I just gave example from real life which would justify outdorsman skill here. And in most cases simple warning would be enough:  smth like: a few ghouls are inside the area, u sure wanna go? or: 50 ghouls and people with guns and bazoooka are in location, walk into them?

about scouts, that Joana said chars wil be done. Well, that is certainly a possibility, but than, lets restrict all other chars, like healers, lockpickers, people will create those for those purposes!!! I mean, i can imagine, PvP gang, all have some offensive skill, 1 has medicine, 1 has scouting, one has something else, what is bad about it??? People already abuse 1 time healers to fix limbs etc with freshly created char. So now what you gonan do about it?

IMHO abuse of healing is smaller sin than stupid pownage of new chars. I told before a few more fsck.ups like that in game when i feel abused i will leave. And go on flame, that no one needs me here. I DON'T care about flamers, I know how Ignore button works. If PvP player abuse exists, IT WILL BE ABUSED. Use common sense here. I am not saying anything new. Noobs will be abused, and project will not become popular. I don't need to tell what will happen with this project than. And for god sake, use examples and arguments.
