Maybe this game should come with a decent up to date manual with a direct link in launcher, would it be possible to insert links into launcher to connect to wiki and forum?

My release has a folder called "manual" with a link to wiki. Besides it's up-to date and configured properly.

That's all I could do. Best you can do is to point newbies to this file instead of to the official ones.

there are other fonline engine based games, check them out. some are in beta, like Desert Europe, some are still developing like Wasteland 2155, some are only using the engine, but they are making a new game like Surface Dwellers

desert europe is dead.

I totally agree that new players just joining (or new characters just being registered) should be prompted to read the wiki and forum, but even more importantly: the rules!

Better would be, if you ask me, to make an ingame tutorial (optional) ;)

Becouse, there are a lot of things in game, that are not "naturally" understood, things that work but not entirely make sense. Like creation of a tent as simplest exemple, its very hard for someone to just pick up this game, hunt 10 brahmin hides and press science on them... If you dont know this, its kinda impossible to think it out by yourself. There are manuals yes, but on blog page, you got client link, without any manual for exemple, so it is not like the manual is shouting "READ ME BEFORE!".

I second that kttdestroyer. An optional tutorial would be handy for many starters.

TLAmk2 got something like that.
There was slave camp and u need to do some quests to get 10 levels (?) and some money to run out of that camp. Its great to piss off 1 level trolls and noobs :)

Jovanka, i looked for a way to add your release link to the wiki's "Getting Started" page but am unable to edit that page, nor do i see an obvious alternate fit, but i'd love to add it if we can identify a good place there for it. Also i'd be happy to add a Rules page to the wiki if...someone will kindly point me to a clear list of updated rules.

@Perteks
Sounds like an interesting thing. Though from the
Quote
Its great to piss off 1 level trolls and noobs
I guess its not optional which means it would get quite repetitive with time.
But well a similar thing would give some flavor to the start and some head ups for the new guys.

See now I didn't even know this existed. Just checked the manual folder and it is packed with useful information for travelling the wastes.

This information really needs to be on the wiki.

Yes because there is so much to do ingame other than level like stand in ncr or stand near a toilet.

But the folder simply points to wiki ;D

I completely agree with this and I have said it in other threads and I know it has been said by others before, too.

Am I wrong or are we having almost the same debate in two or three different threads?

TLA MK2's Slaver Camp tutorial starting area was really good showing you how to do a lot of the stuff in game and get started, the only problem is you can't skip it if you know what to do already, you have to get to level 4 and obtain 500 caps to get out if I remember correctly but it's alright, there is an exploit where you suck an npc's cock for 500 xp and some caps and you can repeat it an infinite amount of times.

Well, the topic is almost the same. Would be weird if we had completely different debates.

See, I haven't played TLA, but to me that doesn't sound so much like an exploit.
