I see this campers any time i m visiting maltese falcon and junktown. No wonder companions hard to get if they spawn 2 times per day and campers getting them all.

The current system is forcing them to do it that way, if they want to get a companion that bad. Most of the "catched" companions are disbanded anyway because of lack of hp or the right proficiency.

Campers are there because these companions are so hard to find. People should be forced to camp only if they search for a special companion, not to find any companion at all. That's the main problem, and it's increasing since more and more people discover the companions system and all its benefits.

Companions should be possible to find on random encounter but when i mean random its mean random (everywhere)

Maybe a companion location hint system as already suggested would help a little. Like you ask a bartender if he saw some and he will point the way like "there was one here. He told me he is heading to <insert random placement here>"

I would like to blame the campers as well but its really the system that encourages them to do so.

A companion hint system? Sounds great.
And about campers - I really missing the 10 min cooldown to relog as it was last session.

Wouldnt change anything. Proxies, remember ?

Anyways, alt scouts are becoming useless. You spot a traveler, well ! You come there, and the other 3 campers had enough time to take it since they waited there with their char in need :p

Yeah, imagine you stared at the monitor about couple of hours waiting for companion and then you went few mins afk to take a shit, and right at this time companion spawned and was taken away by guys with scouts! Awesome. ;D

It would help(in my opinion), if you could tell your companion in which skill he should invest points at lvl up. So no disbanding anymore cause of fault proficiency. So at some point all the campers will get their companion and move on  ;D. Besides that the partialy big difference in hp of the comps is another crucial faktor why many of them are just disbanded. Its just plain dumb that one companion is starting with under 100 hp and another one with over 200 hp.

You cannot prevent that, scouts or not. Like Cartman, ask your mother to bring toilets.

You can already steal them to see what type of weapon they use. But yeah, that's not enough since you cannot see difference between hth, energy and bg - who dont carry anything. Being able to ask them before recruiting them would help a lot. About the hps, I agree, it is just strange and seems not related at all to their gameplay style.

Juts put some player lvl check. let say lvl 12 or 15. No more lvl 1 scouts etc.
This lvl check will bring more chances to normal players.
And maybe some NPC reaction to alts which are sleeping in bars.
When someone will go offline in bar he will get warning and became unprotected.

I like the idea of them possibly being found in random encounters.  (you encounter Junktown Scouts, Pig Rats, and a Traveler)  If they survive you get a chance to chat with them, if you have the PP they say something like "Thanks for the help, how bout we tromp around together?"  Sadly though the way the system works, it's the same with companions as it is with resources, caps, and everything else, The gangs will make one million alts, camp them everywhere, and the Minor small time players get nothing.

huh? unpro in bars? hell yeah , new tool where i can troll! Just make them spawn random on map , not only in bars( like that one behind tent spawns in ncr)  ::)

about companions. I always when enter NCR see at least one that spawned at this same time that i entered (that's how i get about 7 of them). I think that companions now are pretty weak compared to slaves/mercenaries. Wasting +2 days for them for me is a horrible idea. I tested them well and their are random. Their staring lvl , skills , stats, eq in backpack, armor. Most of them (at least for me it was 42 to 51 companions) got some fail builds like 1 EN(lul 61 hp melee companion, Erick i won't forget that fail you were!), 5 AP small guns, 18 carry weigh big guns, EW that was shooting from 3 hexes with laser rifle and much more.

I think that better way would be to earn some caps and buy a mercenaries / catch slaves that are this same power or even better. At end i would like to mention that 1 slave (lone wanderer) is stronger then 1 melee companion at 6-9 lvl. After this test i was sure that better is to have a slave most of times then "watch few hours into screen for companion". If i find one then ok sure why not, but this isn't something that i MUST have and i don't understand why some players are so camping for them/

Uhm, that doesnt make any sense. Scouts are for exactly that purpose:scouting. You wont take the companion with a scout  ;)

How should a non-combat character get one in that case?
