(Perk) In Your Face
« on: January 08, 2012, 06:35:25 pm »

Can anyone explain me how exactly In Your Face perk works? It says it reduces chance to be hit by 50% when someone is on hex next to me, but how that 50% chance calculates?
1. Does it works as if I had bonus 50 AC, so snipers would still have 95% eye shot chance.
2. Does it always reduces chance to be hit by 50%, so someone with 95% chance to hit would have 45% instead, and with 75% he would have 25% etc. etc.
3. Does it halfs the final chance to hit, so if someone has 60% chance to hit, he would have 30% instead.

None of the option. Exactly as it's stated in perk description, you opponent have 50% chance to miss you in adjacent hex. It's independant roll.

lol so it basically works like in case 3 for probability issues right?

I guess so :)
Doesn't even really matter if it's calculated before or after the attackers own hit-chance.

I shoot someone with "In Your Face" from 1 hex and what happens is:
There's a 50/50 chance to hit. If I win this roll, my own hit-chance is rolled (80% for example) -> 0,5 x 0,8 = 0,4 (40% chance to hit). And if the 80% is calculated first, you'll be getting the same results I'd expect (0,8 x 0,5 = 0,4).

I'm not really good at deducing things with maths, so I might be wrong :)

no

so first it makes a roll to completly remove the actual hit chance(even if is 95%) and if succeds =>miss, if it does not it makes the actual hit chance roll

Per attack or per bullet?

If 1 hex burst you have a 50% chance that all bullets will miss or 50% chance that any bullet will miss?

In other words thats 50% for zero dmg and 50% for full damage or 50% dmg?

Can the miss be upgraded to a critical miss?

It's per attack, and yes, it can be upgraded to crit miss, and jinxed is very effective (during CBT testing of the perk, my laser gatling blow up in my hand and made me 70dmg while I was in BA  :P)

When I asked Solar, he told me it's 50% chance to avoid final damage, so probably you have 50% chance to avoid whole burst :) I have this perk and it's not bad on fighting with NPCs 1v1.
The purposes of use for this perk are:
1. Great counter against Melee/Unarmed chars.
2. Avoiding point-blank bursts from 1 hex.
3. Fighting 1v1 when an opponent can't run at all and his only chance to shoot is from 1 hex.
4. Tanking large groups of creatures, because they just have missing spree :P

This was the main thinking behind it - to give hth guys some chance against bursters.

heavy handed is DEFINATELY NOT overpowered. since it can be counter-attacked with in your face perk, and also because chance to hit won't go over 95%. so if you miss the guy that's knocked down, he can run afterwards.

have you ever seen any PvP Bgunner or sniper char with in your face perk ?
its ridiculous how guy in CA with avenger  is doomed laying on ground in front of some bluesuit who just came from respawn.
