Small Issues so far.
« on: January 08, 2012, 08:25:06 am »

I thought I'd try and start a clean thread of small issues with the game mechanics so far.  If you post here please leave the trolling out, and the rage.

1) Venders:  They only have a set list of items they'll pay for.  That's great and all, but they don't tell use what they want or don't want.  Since we can only go one at a time when talking to them and while we're showing them items trying to find something they will by, we're being pickpockted or pushed out of barter window.  I think this should be addressed in some fashion.

2) Venders:  5mm AP ammo, is worth less than 1/10th the price of 10mm JHP???   I get the fact that some venders may like certain items more or less, but since AP is harder to make shouldn't it be worth a little more than that?

3) Mining:  I know everyone has mentioned the issues with the Resource respawn.  I am not sure yet if with all the other crash bugs you guys have been chasing if you have had a chance to address it.  It still just doesn't work.  I check roughly every 20 mins both NCR and Junktown mines and haven't gotten a single piece of ore period.

4) Junktown:  I know the canon reason for it being closed during the night, but I think people who are inside should be able to Leave it, since it's their choice to go out into the 'dangerous' wastes.  It sucks having a hotel room, being killed by some stray in the wastes and having the character you want to play be stuck in a town with nothing but Brahmin crap for 30+ mins.

5) Armor Class:  Only getting Armor Class while running is also an issue.  I just managed to get surrounded by small creatures and since it is forced real time combat, my combat armor meant nothing to them, and I was killed within 6 seconds.  With the movement and combat system in game the way it is, it's extremely difficult to maintain moving and shooting.  And if you stop even once to shoot you have a fairly large chance to be surrounded at which point you're killed.  I understand the theory behind it, but although a target is harder to hit when moving, Armor does in fact give you protection when you're not moving, even if you're an easier target.  Perhaps 50% when not moving.  In either case there are issues at the moment.

Traders lists will be made a lot more simple. Hopefully it should be more intuitive.

JHP being worth more than AP, not sure why this is. Its base price isn't less. Let's wait for the new lists and see if it was some left over from the old system.

Regeneration is still WIP, as scyp mentions in another thread.

AC - the armour continues to offer protection when you are still. It lowers crit chance and it has DR and DT. AC now only represents the difficulty to hit you. If you are surrounded by enemies, then you are easier to hit than if you are running about. It won't change.

I didn't play after wipe yet, but from what I'm reading on the forum, theese are good suggestions. And by the way - wouldn't that fit in Suggestion board better?

This is just a place to discuss the issues.  Then we can come up with suggestions that would go into that part of the forum.

Solar, yeah all seems reasonable, I'll have to double check the dmg resistance you were talking about while not moving.  I probably just missed it.  In either case it will be less of an issue when TB returns.  And is there any discussion of the Junktown situation?  Being locked in after one death is troublesome.

P.S.  And yeah there may be a bunch of posts about certain things, and some may even not be full of Caps rage and such, I was just trying to start a central thread where people can post their thoughts/issues, and they can hopefully be discussed in a peaceful manner.  (I know it's a fantasy but a guy can hope right?)

Im personally charmed by the new changes, makes the wasteland feel more alive. Low levels with high hp finally have a chance against other players without falling down in one shot, the scavenging armor from NPCs makes it have a scavenging feel like you are actually fighting for resources instead of making armors out of thin air.

One of the changes i loved the most was probably the introduction of support perks, gives the game more depth, and more stuff to base your build out of instead of just end game PvP.

Bottom line is, devs, you made an awesome job this wipe.

The only small issue I have is the FOV and gun range outlines being broken.
