Effective builds for both crafting and combat with no drugs?

What I basically want is a character that can:

1- build his own weapons and ammo both for profit and personal use.

2- be able to repair his own weapons and vehicles (probably with the help of a super kit).

3- Be an effective fighter.

4- Lots of Agility, I dunno if I can play this game with agility lower than 10 and 2 action boy since I hunt NPCs a lot.


I have a preference for SG gunsmith but I'll take any build at this point... Even EW/armorer.

Yes and No, because you can craft while being a sniper, and no, because well everyone knows this, but crafting doesn't go well with a build, because you are trying to stay on the same page, and it is gonna be hard for ya...

The problem i see is with the skill points. You will need 120% repair and at least 90% science for SG3,
and a long range sniper needs a really high weapon skill to hit on the eyes, 230% and more.

So you will have to make a High INT build, and also will have not many skill points left for Doc, FA and OD.
A real strong sniper build, as people play it in TC or PVP, you will hardly achieve when you want to craft also Sg3.
What you could do is a pistol crit build for example, using 223 pistols and such. A SG burster could also be
a choice, my SG3 crafter is a burster aswell, and he can even compete with the guys in hinkley.

You also need 5 STR and 7 AG for small guns 3 profession.
Would be almost impossible to reach with your build.

Try this one. It has good weapon skill, some OD, FA and DOC. Also you will need
only a mentat and a nuka cola to get the profession 3.

small frame, good natured.
SG+repair+science
toughness
more crit
better crit
lifegiver
sharpshooter
more crit
weapon handling

Take buffout or psycho to get 1st SG prof (better wait till you can get both 1st and 2nd at the same time)
Take buffout to get 2nd SG prof (or wait till you can get 3rd and get all at the same time)
Take buffout+psycho+nuka to get 3rd SG prof, mentats to start quests before it.
Use cigs to get 10th PE and nuka to get 8th AG

Only 169 HP; 53 hex FoV, 56 with cigs.
Ends with 201% SG, 94% doc, 100% science and 120% repair, 80%/60% eyes/head critical chances.

But you'll have low carry weight what isn't good for mining, as you're crafter.

I have an sg sniper that works. SG 3 and I one shot people.

Very impressive. Though I can do it with a lvl 9 char awfuly builded and with a BB gun.

Without drugs it is hard (possible but you will get either sucky combat or sucky craft or both).

You can try this one: http://www.nitue.net/fcp/index.php?v=2238&build=971

It uses light drugs - Nuka + Cigs which are very easy to obtain (you can buy them in Junktown 100$ each).
It is a BG build with decent fighting capabilities and ability to get Armorer[3], however to take profession you will have to take Mentats + Psycho or Buffout.

You can tag other skills or take other perks instead of Survivalist depending on your preference and play style.

If you don't need Armorer3 and really don't wanna use drugs you can put 1 INT to AG and take other professions BG[2] and Armorer[2] for example...

Enough to be a BG3 and to raid SF caravans I think.

SPECIAL: 6 7 8 3 6 9 1
TRAITS: Kamikaze, Good Natured/Fast shot if you add some to sg
PERKS: Awarness, Bonus move 2*, Life Giver, Bonus rate of fire, Action boy 2*
SKILLS tagged: Big guns, Science, Repair
End vaules without sg skills: Big guns 200, Science:100, Repair: 120, Outdoorsman 82
With Nuka cola you can burst 2x but even without that you can fight effectively in PvE. You will have 11+4 action point without drugs.
End vaules if Small guns used (gun runner sg boost is taken): Small guns 101, Big guns 184,  Science:100, Repair: 120, Outdoorsman 82

Both char can trade and buy one mercenary to carry the loots with mentats 2. High action point gives you chance to run away and thanks to kamikaze you have 19 sequence which will let you attack 2x if you start the combat (in PvE).

Side note if 1-2 PvP char enters your encounter, you can easily win if the map has obstacles (city ruin, trees, mountains).

Only thing I changed was the kamikaze trait for small frame, I don't wanna lose the AC from agility.

I also placed 1 extra point in strength because the minigun requires 7.



Based on your build:

SPECIAL: 7 7 8 3 6 9 1
TRAITS: Good natured small frame.
PERKS: Awareness, bonus move(2), lifegiver, bonus RoF and action boy(2).
Skills: BG 200, Science 100 and repair 150.


Good enough?
