Encounter Alert, Books again, Weapon degrading
« on: June 11, 2011, 08:12:34 pm »

1) FLC
What about to connect all FLC to one unite account ?
You could withraw your money deposidet in one FLC in whatever FLC u want...
Now is FLC just for nothing :-) My money are safer in my tent

2) When another player enters encounter you are in, you could get red warning message: "Player XY entered this encounter"

Edit 08:22:21 pm :
3) Getting karma back - add better posibility to get karma back
- e.g. when helping Rangers kill Slavers, what about to add some plus karma points for NCR ??
- e.g. when helping Junktown scouts kill pigrats or Raiders, add plus karma for Junktown citizens...

Edit: 09:40:21 pm :
4) Books (I know there are some similar threads here, but this is little different I think)
Why there is Hub library and why there are books in game if u cannot read them ??
Make books readable - adds skill points - BUT, books would give you skillpoints max up to 40 !! no more.
Reason:
a) books will be put into effect in game
b) players cant make "book cheating" (get 300 skillpoints for money (caps))
c) 40% skillpoints is needed for basic crafting: Gunpowder, Metal Parts, Weak healing powder ... each of this items need 40% science or first aid... so books could be good for players who dont have enaught skill points for theese basic crafting (e.g. doctor dont have 40% science and he cant make gunpowder fur basic ammo)

5. Weapon degrading
Dont know how the degrading system works but it seems it is "+1%" every 1 bullet (single shot). What about to set % of weapon degrading depended on your skills?
E.g. degrading % = 1 / (skillpoints in current weapon type * 1.5) That means: players with "small guns 200%" when using small gun would have degrading formula 3 times slower than now. Player with "small guns 50%" would have degrading formula 1.333 etc. Similar for other weapon types so players with high small gun skill but low big guns when using big gun would have fast weapon degrading.

PS: I dont speak azbuka

Skill point was in books for this. And for balance was removed. A little ago they were used in crafting, but now they have been removed. I think they should be added back in ADVANCED CRAFTING, not normal onw. Ex: Big Guns 2-3 should require Guns and Bullets.

The current formula already depends on mostly your skill and break counts for the weapon being used. With 300% skill, your weapon never degrades. (More info: http://www.fo2238.fodev.net/wiki/Deterioration) And with a hopefully better Repair system post-wipe, it might make degrading different in comparison.

4) Books
Devs will not do something like this, the rich will just buy books to maximize their skills, in short. If they do bring back books, it will most likely be for temporary stat points, like in New Vegas. Though the thought of books being like drugs seems... odd.

I like the idea of books. Just imagine some marginal skills being upgradable by books to certain marginal amount.

Being able to bump science, gamblig or barter to 40% without wasting skill points could be nice for players interested in doing so.

Alternatively you could just limit character to reading just 3-5 skill books before none will ever take effect (though irrevertable changes are not that cool)

Book limit shoul be good. Similar lika proffesions - you can have max 4.

3 suggested rules for books:
1. Cannot read more than 4 books as total - your choice which ones you pick.
2. One book should give you 5-15% (random) in certain skill
3. books cant add you skills above 40%

Books:
You haven't played, or don't remember Fallout 1 and 2? Limit for learning anything new from books was 94 % IIRC (or something arround). Don't even understand why this was removed.

Limits for level 3 professions are high enough anyway and together with cap limit, good crafter is not much use for anything else. Why not help this by allowing players to increase initial skill by reading?
