Noob question here but how comes when I try to sell leather armour and other crap to a vendor they never offer me any caps for it? (and the vendors I been trying to sell my junk to did have caps) :)

Traders simply will not trade in stuff they do not generally buy/sell.

guy only sells guns?  he wont buy anything that Isn't a gun or a gun that he doesn't specialize in.  resulting in 0 caps.

Also, some merchants are more picky about the items condition.  I found a very nice trader that buys small guns and armor, armor being any kind and any det he will give some cap(s).
