When that person goes onto the world map and your close to them, you will get a popup
asking if you want to follow or not.

also you can create a shared tent, to make teaming up easier To do that you both need to be in same encounter while creating tent the one who creates the tent should be tagged by other guy in the tent creation moment

also you have to stay close to tagged char, coz sometimes i saw a lag, when you stay too far it may not work
