I have a question, its a good one - Say, My favourite games are Fallout (old ones), Baldur, Planescape, (you see where its going?) Arcanum, Half Life (especially old one), Morrowind (pff.. okay, Buggerfall was okay as well) was okay but other than that i shit flames when i hear "Bethesda". I really adore the idea of postapo - radiation, mutation and stuff. I'm not against shooters, mainly I find them annoying cause they are dumb. (loved FEAR though).
Is trying STALKER in my case a good idea?
It is the ultimate NUCLEAR-postapocalyptic game in my opinion. There isn't much roleplay in it, you can only use one phrase for any set of dialogue, so its actually technically, not RPG at all except when it comes to literal actions such as killing people and/or joining factions.
It IS EXTREMELY immersive/atmospheric as said... It has a little bit of everything you would and wouldn't expect in such a place/situations.
You bleed when you get hurt, you die when you get shot, your bullets are fine-tuned to represent realistic bullet actions. (over long ranges bullets fall) And the Combat AI is AMAZING. It's like they act as a group and not some shit "SShhwaarrmzzz, get up in face and PEW PEW!!" Like some brainswashed dumbshits just with guns strapped to them and not bombs. Although it fucks up occassionaly, you kick ass when you deserve it (use yrrrr brraiin) you laugh your ass off, and you piss your pants.
Even if you have a shitty PC, the games can run on VISTA! For god's sake! xD Just lower the graphics and all that stuff as low as possible and it's smooth as hell even on ClearSky. (Which I understand, it is somehow really laggy and such only because they tried to switch game engines and didn't quite make it).
And they only cost about $10 each... It's absolutely worth it.
