C'mon people
Don't you cry now that it's hard environment for new players

Whenever i'm looking after some hard to find info i stumble upon many infos for newbies which are at least of average quality (meaning quite enough for new player to know what to do) so it's quite easier to play when you know some basic stuff

My point is: if you need some info for newbies you will find it if you are looking for it (well then again, you might not if your intelligence is 4 or lower ;-P )

Fortunatelly devs doesn't seem to bother with newbie crybabies - we don't need those imo (i mean crybabies - not devs ;-P )

No doubt there's a lot of well written and useful stuff, but it makes for a much better learning experience for players to be taught all of this ingame. Reading a guide that tells you how to make a tent is one thing, but doing a quest that teaches you how is a lot more valuable to new players.

Learning it in game is a good idea...

It propably isn't there yet only due to the dev's hands always full of work

Or so i believe...

I think too that FOnline could use a few simple quests for beginners. Like how to get a tent, acquiring materials and crafting something useful, etc. No cap rewards, but perhaps some experience points besides what you get from crafting.

About having some sort of safe haven for newcomers has its ups and downs. The Wasteland is a harsh place to begin with, but sanctuaries could be easily exploited by experienced players. Therefore random spamming is a better option, however the newcomer should be able to trigger these learning quests from any possible starting town [perhaps limitating the possibilities to ease the Dev's workload?].

Either way, the beginning with only a few encouraging words from experienced wastelanders is perhaps a bit too harsh for everyone [I know some of you don't require such help]. By having these learning quests there's wouldn't be such a great need for merciful Samaritans.

Dog Merc is a cheap way to double your chances of survival on low levels.(more targets)

did the price drop to 20 caps? Last I checked it was 2k for a dog that gets killed by a single rat.

this game is pretty hard as i'm new as well but it's still fun in that way. you have to learn everything on your own mostly like avoiding pathetic pkers, crafting etc..  i can't complain it's a great way to kill some extra time after work

I've bought a dog just once. It had max. 300hp (I was on lvl 2 at the moment) and cost around 300 caps. Though when I bought it, he was almost dead and had crippled limbs. He wasn't any good excep carrying stuff taking damage instead of me.

I totally disagree. There's enough information about crafting and how to make a tent in the manual and wiki. I was very frustrated before I got my tent, but when I finally got it, it was more than tits. Plus, I think it would skip the most valuable lession of all : don't trust anyone, but don't think you'll get far by yourself.
Sure, there are assholes who will "help you hunt brahmin for hides", but who actually end up killing you and taking all your stuff. There are also good samaritans, who aid you in your travels and maybe give new players a gun or an armor. And that's what I like most about this game : you have to interact with real people instead of NPCs. Five lvl 1 characters have a better chance of survival than going solo.
The wasteland is a harsh and unforgiving place and there are gangs who kill new players just for fun.
