Lil-Pip 3000

FOnline Lil-Pip 3000 Mod

Much less cumbersome than the Pip-Boy 2000 Plus, the Lil' Pip 3000 offers all the functionality of its bigger brother, and features two colors in addition to bright green for standard display: bright blue and bright red (not working in this presentation model!). The Lil-Pip 3000 device uses integrated circuits instead of vacuum tubes to achieve its small size. Also it features a flip-up split-screen monitor and can be comfortably worn on the arm.  You will so much love it, we guarantee!

Description: The interface mode is based on Van Buren's Lil-Pip 3000 pipboy model. I fixed it up a bit, to make it look better in combination with FOnline. Additional buttons, etc. don't have any use. It's just a different optic for the old PipBoy.

It's the first version. I needed to change stuff here and there to make it fit with the actual interface. As soon as we are able to change more, I will rework it again once more.

Installation: Extract this archive into your FOnline client folder and the mod should work. IMPORTANT: If you have any other interface mods installed, they might collide with the Lil-Pip 3000 mod, because the same files could be used. If you are not sure about it, make a backup of your art folder first.

This mod is compatible with both, FOnline: TLA and FOnline: 2238.

Does it work with transparency mod?

Most probably not, because the transparency mod edits the image files. I didn't checked out their files, but at least the new "Lil-Pip 3000" will not have transparency.

This is awesome! ;)

Few little things:

- I suggest someone make a transparency mod for this too, as the Lil-Pip 3000 fills the whole screen even moreso than the Pip-Boy 2000.

- The Fix-Boy needs an interface upgrade too, it still looks like the Pip-Boy 2000 and doesn't quite fit when you've got a Lil-Pip 3000.

I'm not saying "DO IT NAOW!" and it's not really essential, just suggestions in the long run.

The Fix-Boy is not the PipBoy or in the PipBoy, it's additional hardware. In theory it should be under "expansion hardware" in the top right window, but I didn't added it there (yet?). And yes, the Lil-Pip is a bit bigger than the PipBoy (because of 800px instead of 640px wide).

I still think the Fix-Boy looks out of date when put beside the Lil-Pip 3000, even if it's not part of the Pip-Boy 2000; it uses a similar model to it.
As for the size of the Lil-Pip 3000, it fills up my whole screen when in windowed mode (which I use 95% of the time). :-\

I use window mode too, but 1024x768px. :P Can't do much against this, because I used the VB interface as template, which has exactly this size.

Btw. it's pretty simple to make the Lil-Pip compatible with the transparency mod. No clue if entries in the *.ini files have been changed there, but to make the interface itself transparent, you just need to add a alpha channel to the *.png image and set it to whatever % you like. :>

That doesn't... really sound that... simple... at all. At least not for one of such technological incapability as me. :P

Lexx, is that expansion hardware slot a hint that we may see pipboy upgrades in the future or is it just for looks? BTW, lil pip 3000 looks awesome.

I think in-game buy-able expansions for the Lil-Pip 3000 would be a nice idea... there's expansion hardware is listed in the Pip-Boy 2000 wiki page from J.E. Sawyer's tabletop RPG.

Or the Lil-Pip 3000 itself could be a buy-able replacement for the Pip-Boy 2000 which comes with the benefit of being able to plug expansion hardware into it.

I'm wondering if the Clues Button will ever be re-integrated into the Pip-Boy 2000 / Lil-Pip 3000, Not every Pip-Boy 2000 owner in the wasteland has managed to break his clues button, right?

In all, I think this idea could turn into more than just a mod for the game, it could become part of the game's Pip-Boy upgrade system and character customization.

No, this is just a unofficial interface mod. We have no plans for doing anything with the pipboy in the moment.

A kind of "PipBoy upgrade system" sounds funny, but I don't see something like this anytime soon. In fact, we never ever thought about stuff like that yet.
