What about instead of a perk reading books will eventually boost those skills to 100. With enough books a solid pvp player would be able to gain professions.

No, if you take at minimum 8-10 intelligence, it would be a good idea.

its called priorites (sacrifice and give and take), if you want a smarty pants then allocate points to being a smart ass.  otherwise whats the point in having any differences in characheters for, you could make them all the same, Max BG retards with horrible st and ch that all run around like rambo or Terminator t-1000 hitting SS constantly in their quest to 1 hex another rambo or terminator, oh..... THAT is what you already have....ok.  But now you would like them to be able to read, got it!

Ahhhh!  I get it, this is just another ploy to give asshole pvpers the excuse to make shit chars that are minmaxxed for combat yet still retain the benefits of not having to have made tradeoffs!  Well played, sirs!  Never would have seen through that subterfuge!

Really, need a new game branch off called "Barney Triple Ape", where there is only one character template.  A max hp BG Barney with SS then you couldnt complain about anyone being op, you'd all have the same "Barney".  Then it would come down to tactics and skill!  lol, like there is any.... lol

Fonline pvp skill is directly related to distance from server. Mysterious.

Their called alts not priorities, players don't have to play with the choices they have made or can make, there is always another "tool" for choices you didn't make, logged off somewhere for use on demand. What difference does it make how the players can and do differ, if its inevitable as any choice you have or haven't made is or can be just another purpose for a character or multiple you have or haven't made yet?

Good cause is to discourage alts by changing features, mechanics that promotes them, I think that should be understandable by itself as common sense.

Athis is just another ploy to give asshole pvpers the excuse to make shit chars that are minmaxxed for combat yet

No, it just allows everyone to have less of a need to have an alt for something. In this situation, for repair.

By the way, those "retard" characters you dislike so much and your general biased attitude can be easily shown as logic failure. Here's the thing, players can make these one purpose crafting alts, who are just as one dimensional and illogical, those alts allow the possibility of having the "retard" characters and support them, but damn you sure have no problem with " teh crafting players. "

"Barney Triple Ape"
Terminator t-1000

Somehow I feel that you are sub-consciously damaged by me, but hey it might just be me not thinking straight and don't mind that.

Just like this guy is soon to declare all world problems, war, hunger, disease etc. etc. to be the source of PvP players and only.

Maybe it could work like this:
If you have a book in your active item slot magazine, it gives you boost to that skill. (so the same way as tool or lockpicks allready work ingame)
for example:
First aid book in item slot > FA +25%
Big book of science > Science +25%
etc.

Now there's ofc combat skills, let's say you want to get a little boost to your SG, but having a magazine in active item slot wouldn't let you shoot anything, right? For these just having it in inactive item slot is enough for the boost (logic wouldn't rly allow anything else here).

Now this would be really nice imho...(!) Because some perma-boosts by books are obviously something that's never gonna get implemented, so let's be realistic, because in core it's not such a bad idea. Books and magazines should def have some use.

Yeah because you can only learn from a book while holding it and lose all this knowledge once you put it down.

Heheh, If the devs wanted books to work, they wouldn't have removed them in the first place.

Roachor: sigh... take it as holding a manual. If you do hold a manual to something, you can allways look into it and get the info right. It's practicly the equivalent for doing a chemistry exam with open chemistry journals. Or do you remember every word of every book you ever read? I didn't think so.
Gimper: that's becuase permanent boosts to skills is just a wrong concept for MMO game. This way you could just 'eat' thousand books and raise any characters skill to 300% (without investing any skillpoints into it).

I think the suggestion is just bad to begin with but holding a book is stupid and pointless. Equipping items is already awkward enough with juggling radios and having offhand items fuck up your perks.
