Call to arms
« on: August 07, 2012, 01:06:53 am »

I love this game, and i have considered it the best mod i have ever had the pleasure of playing. When i first played the game it was august, 2009. In those days there  were hundreds of players. In fact I recall routinely seeing over 800 players logged in. Yes given many were dual logged, but there was never a dull moment. Im not saying this game is dead, and i will never let the memories i had of it die. Im here to ask all the lurkers, the curious, the defeated, and the rage quitters to give it a go again, and for those that play now, tell your friends, your family. Lets get the player base back. This great game deserves no less for all the hard work that a small select group of individuals have put into it.

The obvious solution is advertising FOnline on 4chan and lemonparty.

4chan people "invaded" the server right after public beta launch already, it is doubtful there will be a new wave of it.

The only bet is another wipe, current session is very, very sloppy started, there was still so much to do before the wipe what just was ignored by developers, the whole thing was just rushed. Sessions starts and suddenly encounters are disappearing, few months into the session we get news that trading system isn't finished, TC not working for a half a year because nobody gives a fuck to copy paste some scripts, exploits that were much worse than just devaluation of caps etc. etc. i could go on and on endlessly, though there's no point.

I call this the 2238 curse, if something can go wrong and be fucked with it will eventually be screwed and also it all happens with a snowball effect, each time the ball of shit keeps getting bigger and bigger.

Nothing actually changes here, the forum is like it was a half a year ago, just some clusterfuck of optimism and hope(although it may be a desperate one) for upcoming changes that never comes.

The thing that gets me is that there's too many backward fixes in the game mechanics. For example, because AC was broken the only compensation is to have extra Lifegiver and Toughness perks as damage soaks. Then on top of this you have the current insanity of people who can't be hit while running with 95 AC+

Pretty much everything has been tried except addressing the initial problem and following the spirit of the Fallout games--the way to do this would be to have the AC always on and to cap the % to hit reduction so that another player would always have at least a 60-70% percent chance to hit you at point blank range.

99% of people who heard of fallout only ever heard of fallout 3 and honestly think that's the first game of the franchise.

Sad but true.

So most who end up coming here are not going to like it, cus they're  used to fallout being a first person shooter with some pointless dialogue and free roam.

Keep up advertising though, the true fans will enjoy come to enjoy this online version.

And Many of the new players who come here loving the idea of fallout 1-2 with other players really end up not liking the fact that all they find is trolls, griefers, and punks everywhere they go once they join this late in a season.  Because people are bored and capped so they fall back on the basics of killing anyone and everyone, or griefing just to do something with their time.  Never a draw to players.  Harsh may be fun, but when it is just torture that becomes less fun, and well less fun is not fun.

My first post and just my opinion but I love the fact the shit doesnt work.  I played years ago and am trying to get back into if I can get the damn client to dl.  But the fun of it for me was the griefers and assholes.  This is one of the few games that I actually get into.  I am there when the town gets raided and Im hiding in some shack waiting for the perfect opportunity to make my break for it.  Dieing in a hail of bullets was awesome.  I dont know but me and my buddies are gonna give it another go.  You might not be around anymore but Bob Saget you were my Gandalf of the wastes.
