That's more work actually, be happy they give any update info when they make one.

Yeah, changelogs crazy hard, derp... and it's not like you have to make one as you work to avoid ending up with a clusterf-

Developers have commit logs but it's not suitable as player-readable changelog. Especially if project is closed source, which for some weird reason most FOnline dev teams prefer (I guess in many cases because of ugly as fuck code, any other reason I could see would be some weird "server will be mine" mentality - which so far ends up with "all servers are shittier than they could be" and enforces people to re-implemnent simple things that other teams did already). John Carmack can give away source to his 3D hits, but some amateurish indie groups that will never earn any real money on copyright-breaking MMOs can't -.-

Wait, so you're saying that you're not making a wiki-like documentation as you go? Oh my god, that actually explains a lot. Also, I'm surprised that you're surprised about sharing code and other stuff given that it was the 2238 team that started with the "gtfo we're not sharing anything" approach. I'm pretty sure if you went open source other teams would have more incentive to cooperate with you... but then again I guess it's way past the point where it could've mattered because most people probably already remade the stuff they could need from 2238 themselves.

I don't know what the devs do, what I'm saying is that player-changelog can be different from dev-changelog or dev documentation. If I was making game player-changelog would be last thing to write.

Of course we have a wiki + other documents.

Also we "started" with this approach, because... we had been the very first FOnline game beside TLA? Btw, 2238 is actually sharing quite some stuff with normal FOnline (which therefore is incorporated in any other FOnline game), simply because some of us are also working on core elements.

So not copy-pasting patch notes is just a sign of general contempt for your so-called testers? ::)

Yeah, and I'm pretty sure you did everything in your power to keep it that way. I'm not even mad, just surprised some of you would expect anything else in return.

So instead of one team that doesn't share work there is 3 or 4. I don't see any difference, unless you think the world ends on Rotators. For me 2238 is the lost cause in this matter ::)

You seem to be a bit confused who is 2238 developer here.

I think the 2238 devs also created aids and stole all the food from africa. Not 100% sure, but at least they aren't doing anything against it, so it must be related.

But he's been quite a supporter of open source. On other hand, one fat ugly guy licensed source for one of the hit, and build on some crap on it. It's never went public, except for one occasion when some not-so-clever hacker got it (he was not certainly clever when he let that fut guy cheat him with police...).
And still it's the same base and same usage.

Now if some fat guy can't share the stuff based on what is already being released to public, why it'd be more acceptable than 2238 being closed?

If we were testers we'd have detailed info on how things are supposed to work in order to let them know if there are problems. We'd be able to make max level chars to test game mechanics instead of playing guess which perk is broken and risk wasting 6 hours to a few days of grinding. We'd also have access to things like text dumps. But we aren't testers, we are players in a game that is half made.

Problem about constant changes and updates "let ya know's" is that they might give up on something and end up looking silly.

Most successful game mods alredy have something decent to introduce ever since the beginning while noobie fail mods are always the same: "Hey guise i wanna do mod'1 can I haz like 15 people helping me!?!?!?!?"

...

2238 is a social experiment, developers are actually taking notes of our behaviour. Test-subjects rather than testers.
