Following my return to
Faggot Onto it : 2238 buttwhips FOnline : 2238, i couldn't help but be the canary of a dieing gold mine, and post a suggestion whose chance to emerge by the next wipe is that of me developing my own multiplayer Fallout spinoff and calling it "Modern Future Nuclear Advanced Senior Metal Warfare People Man Gear Of Dogs War 78 : Wheels Of Theft Evil Syndicate Mario Wars", anyways here it is :
Unlike many other games, weapons in FOnline have a small history to them. Countless are real-life war stories of weapons crossing from one side of the war, to another.
(I guess all of you guys know i got tired of RP and it's likes, but luckily this has nothing to do with it.)
Say that SMG you found lying on some random bombers' gibs, it has obviously been repaired earlier, it has been used time after time, and it is now in your hands, you are continuing to write it's life. It is merely completing it's circle of life and war, going from one side to another. In the midst of you randomly bursting bluesuits, due to a chemical imbalance in your brain and a rare allignment of the stars, you may just wonder to whom this weapon belonged to.
Here is where my idea kicks in : serial numbers for weapons.
Keys and thus cars already have them, and the system is working great so far!
This system could have a far more simple solution, where serial numbers start from 0 to INFINITY AND BEYOOOOND, or a bit more complicated one that would require further delving into the games' guts, where each weapon has a certain "starting production" serial, let's say from 14300 to just about the latest number of that weapon that a player found. Weapon serials could be generated dynamicaly, as once you pick up a completely new, never before used weapon, the server checks the latest serial number of that weapons' type and increases it by one.
So, if the newest minigun on the server had a 13376969 serial on it, the next one you build would be 13376970. . A serial number could be erased from a weapon with the use of a flint, and a small, maximum four-letter word could be scratched into it's place.
Weapons could have special editions, with small textual messages that describe them as such ("You can see the words "RandomwepCo. 100th Anniversary Special" engraved in gold.)
...and here is where the flaws come in : firstly, FOnline revolves around two things : skin giveaways and guns, with the second one being more dominant.
There would be (veeery rough estimate) thousands of guns of the same type in the hands of players at one time, though then again, as i already stated, weapons get they're serial number only once they are picked up by a real player and not an NPC for the first time after which the server makes' it's serial number by increasing the one before it by 1.
Even though the four-letter limitation and a textual description could differentiate a scratched-in word from a serial number, there are always
retards special people who get scammed by they're own fault, and then go on a bitching crusade ranging from the Players' Republic to the Admin Empire.
We also have the fact that this is the "lowest" season so far, but with the 3D system hopefully in place post-wipe and a few nifty changes, the game could be back to it's non-two-digit-playercount days.
Then again, if it isn't, we are fucked, and so are all of the suggestion, including mine.-Thanks for having the patience to review this hackjob of mine, and i hope seeing you in-game soon, luckily not with you holding a 10mm SMG and running towards me
