Stupidity rehab
« on: August 24, 2011, 02:27:25 am »

I did a stupid thing. Let me explain. My ego got way out of proportion and did not think my action would have severe consiquences, it did. So the second i log in i see this guy shouting: "(NAME OF CHARACTER) IS A TEANT SNEAKER RAIDER!!!"

So the cocky S.O.B. that I am, told him to tag me. He had nothing. I can bet on it. I just wanted to bring him to a base filled with mercs so he can get shoot on sight.

On the arrival to the base filled with mercs he started tu run, mercs did nothing (yet they usualy shoot people who arent friends) ,I shoot him 2 times, mercs went for him, but a cuple of seconds later they had given up the chaise. In a few moments I took the most important things from the base and ran to my teant. Looked for him half an hour but without resolts. I honestly do not know if he is still there... he might have loged off. I hold no grudge against the man. I blame my self for this.

This is my story for now.

So the purpose of this topic is simple. I want to hear your stupid moments. Purpose? Lulz. Be a good sport! Share a lough or 2 with your stupidity and stupidity of others! Theres no reason to hide it...

No trashing or bashing, no calling people names and what not, remmember! This is a videogame. What we do here is to have good fun no mater the outcome.

UPDATE - just as I clicked the post button I went back in the game to check whats what... i see mercs running to the right. Yes. They got him. Im just heading to NCR to give the man some caps. He is just way to cool.

Sadly it's hard when a certain group of people's fun stomps on everyone else.

My stupid story, umn.  I was out in NCR having fun trading my earned gear, when someone stole from me, some how they managed to get a fair amount of my gear.  Anyhow after cussing and being displeased at losing an hours worth of work I went to my tent got my gun and went back.  Well there was the noob again going through pockets, tried me again and failed to snag the rocket launcher I had (for that very reason)  with a gleam in my eye, I turned toward him leveled my smg and pulled the trigger.  It was a truly satisfying feeling for about 8/10ths of a second until the guards opened up on me.  In my haste to waste I didn't bother checking the people around us, and managed to get a guard and 2 others in the burst.  I laughed at myself, but damn I liked that smg.. LOL

UPDATE 2 (offtopic) - talked to the man and he told me he was in the corner, where he him self could not see his character. Exploit? I do not wish to name this guy... just want to point out a possible flaw in game. This is off the original topic and I do not wish to go in too deep with this problem here, but a quick explanation will be ok. Continue with the stupidity!!!

Once, I wasn't paying attention to who was following me, and next thing I know, a guy named "Forrest" shoots me with his .44 Magnum Revolver, and then shitted in my mouth in a random encounter. Forrest was funniest NCR troll ever. Also, I miss "blubber", but he was unarmed troll that couldn't fight, just tags you and tries to get lucky unarmed hit. He never succeeded in anything to my record though.

Also, the first time I saw active dynamite back in 2009, I picked it up... Shiny red glow! Bad idea. It was right after an explosion and all of the victims' loot was on the ground all over.

You have Stockholm syndrome or something? Why would you give the player that tried to rape your base money? Don't mean to be rude, I just don't see why you would do that.  :-\

Stupidity? Ah, I seem to have lots of it.

I also have bad memories of dynamite. A long time ago I was hanging around in VC, when someone planted a bomb on me. I noticed it and dropped it immediately to avoid being blown up. Well, I didnt blow up, but the guards killed me in a fraction of a second. Later on I read some info about dynamite and bombing and learned that I should have just ran to the worldmap and then drop the bomb. The irony of the story is that I was right at the gate, only a few hexes away from the safety of the worldmap... I wish I had known about that back then...

My second experience of my own stupidity has also taught me something. NEVER TRUST ANYONE! I was still a noob and made "friends" with a more experienced player who helped me to hunt. Well, soon after that I wanted to do some mining, and before that I had to drop my loot to my tent. The dude asked me if he could temporarily store his stuff at my tent to be able to carry more minerals and ore and I agreed. Can you guys guess what happened next? Yep, you guessed it. I had already dropped my armor and weapons when he started shooting at me and I didnt even understand what was going on until I was lying in a puddle of blood. After respawn I rushed back to my tent to see if he was still there. I was hoping I could somehow grab some gear and magically slay him. Well, he was still there looting all the stuff that was on the ground and noticed my arrival. I made a quick change of plans, rushed to the brahmin hides, grabbed 10 of them and made it to the exit grid. I thought that my tent is now compromised for good and that he could come back any time for another raid, so I made the hard decision to nuke my tent. If I can't have that stuff, neither can he! And so I built a new tent right next to my old one. Poof, all stuff gone. You can only imagine my thoughts when I read the wiki article about tents and realised that my tent would be safe again once the guy had left. Luckily I was just a noob back then, so I didnt loose anything valuable in the nuking process.

Then there is the story of me killing a thief, which involves more bad luck than stupidity. Someone tried to rob me, got caught, I bursted him and accidentally hit a merchant. There was nothing I could have done to save my hide from the angry guards. Damn thieves, they not only rob you, but sometimes even get you killed.

In my most recent brain fart I got pwnt purely because of my own stupidity. I was trading in VC, when I realized that somebody had stolen some ammo from me. I had a good hunch of the suspect, so I waited at the gate for him to arrive. Soon he arrived with another dude and it appeared that they were trying to rob each other (and me). I watched a while and avoided their robbing attempts until I saw something I had been waiting for. One of the guards shouted out a warning, saying "Player A, Player B is interested in your possessions!" I immediately bursted this suspected thief and got wasted by the guards in an instant. I was quite confused for a second, but after reading the log I realized why they killed me. I FUCKING SHOT THE WRONG GUY! The guard had in fact warned my suspect of a thief, not the other way around. But in all my excitement, I somehow misread the text and thought that my suspect was unprotected. Well, apparently he wasn't... All I could say was le fu. So I lost my gear and my rep in VC went down 100 points. I had a slight feeling of rage growing inside me, because I naturally blamed him for the whole mess. However, I was lucky and the server crashed moments after this unfortunate event and when it finally came back online, the situtation had been reverted back to the point before I even got robbed. Not so bad after all. :P

In the old times of post-obt2 testing, I was roaming around with an APA and flamer, stumbled upon centaur and a friend I haven't seen some days. He was wearing an APA too (it was easy to obtain it back then), I said 'I will help' nonetheless. I shot at centaur, but somehow that friend went into the line of fire, I fried him(sweet flamer crits). Next shot, centaur did some crit to me and I was lying dead as well.

Was funny when we were chatting lying on on the ground waiting for respawn after such situation.

Critical fail with flamer was the best. I fried quite a lot people by accident, just because they had been close to me and my character was too stupid to hold it into the correct direction. And of course because the flamer was far too strong-- killed everything with one hit.

Some time ago i got a highwayman for the first time (imagine my joy not being killed by yakuza or pk inside the city). After the purchase i still had like 30 k caps on me, so i quickly went to my tent to gear up a bit (i took my very first 0% det CA, some gun and vault city day pass) and decieded to go shopping to vc with my new highwayman.

I wasn't that noob to park in the city and go away, so i left my car a few squares away on the wm and rushed to the inner city gate where the guards shot me on sight and took my stuff away. I was like "WTF?", but then i checked the game clock and it was like 10 pm or something.

After those 60 seconds to respawn i quickly (?) traveled back to the city and still managed to pick up my CA :) Anyway, i lost 30 k caps to the guard, i guess he was happy. And yes, i had the car key on me, so it was taken away together with the money, lol. I didn't have a spare one. I lost my joy to the highwayman, so i showed him to some random guy and told him that he can take it if he can pick the lock.

4 days or so passed and i checked on the car if it's still there on the marked spot, and there he is, so i got myself and honest lockpicker and i'm enjoying the car ever since :)

No, the man just made me more aware of some things... I didnt actualy give anything (its virtual all of this) . Read my posts from before. I got him to talk ;)

Stupidity MKII:

Happend just an hour ago or so... I will never take a newbey under my wings again. After a whole lot of giving gear to this newbey (he always got killed, did not wanted to lvl just to go around with me on BH and reno trips) and i took him along, i liked his enthusiasm about raiding those unfriendly towns... most of newbeys are a bunch of cowrds fearing they will loose there ones and zeros from there computer. So after alot of death from both sides i take him again. We got killed by a certain faction that i know a few people. I tryied to talk some sence wile the combat was going on but no luck... So i alone went back there... who do i see? Yea that same paranoid, over enthusiastic newbey joined them and screeming : " YOU ALWAYS HATED ME FRANK ". Hated you? I killed the same guy you were with in that place, that killed you, FOR YOU!!! Than got killed in the process... Lost alot of gear on that little shit. I will never take another soul i do not know under my wing. Not only i have to deal with backstabing people in RL, i have to deal with them here too?

And a nother note... A lot of people are pretanding to be someone i know. The dissadvantige of using one character i suppose.

My biggest stupidity stunt is actually quite simple.

I was still pretty new.  I had gotten a caravan cart and a few mercenaries to transport a bunch of my loot to a base near Den.  On my way there, I got an encounter.  The Map speed was faster back then but the encounters were still so frequent I was immediately prepared to leave the second the map loaded.

You have encountered:  A Hidden Bunker

Clicks on the brahmin of caravan c-  FUUUU

There goes the possible gauss pistol and gatling laser + 200 MFC.

But in retrospect, it was probably not the worst idea.  Because back then, entering an encounter in a car or caravan cart meant EVERYONE IN THE ENTIRE WASTELAND SOMEHOW MAGICALLY KNEW EXACTLY WHERE YOU WERE.  So it wouldn't take more than 10 seconds before 10 guys with BAs/Avengers would show up and rape me.

When i first tried to use mercs, i took a SG merc with an M60 out to own powder gangers, and as soon as we spawn, he attempts to shoot a powder ganger on the other side of me, and i was hit for 200+ damage since he 1hexed me by mistake.

Another time i had two black dude mercs with d.eagles helping me carry a load of loot me and a friend got from caves when we were bored, and i encountered marauders, and just loaded my screen as one of them ran up and bursted me, and then they killed the two black dudes with pure numbers.

And finally, one time in NR i misclicked my own ghoul merc and crit bursted him for over 700 damage.

Merc failures are fail.

And then.... then, i tried using vehicles.

First, i bought a buggy from a friend, since he didn't want it but needed caps, and i drive it in to NCR when almost nobody is there, and stand next to it in my black leather jacket looking cool, and then a person randomly runs up to it, and lock picks it and drives away, after talking to the person i got the car back after a bit, but then i ran in to some marauders and got shot to pieces by 3 of them bursting me down 3 tiles outside of NCR, and lost it because of the "Lost car" glitch.

And then i took my friends scout out for a drive, and went up to redding, to trade for some stuff at redding, and i encounter the epic 100+ HP homesteaders, which jump on me and own me since i spawned right next to them and they got pissed off, and once again lost it due to the "Lost car bug".

And then, i bought a new buggy, and went down to trade with a friend down by the gun runners, and while he's guarding the car, a random person finds it (It's parked 2 tiles away from the gun runners, out in the desert) and owns my friend with just a pancor and a crit burst, and just as he said he died, i enter the encounter, and get shot to pieces since it was a crafter alt as well, and i ended up having to buy the car back for 10k from the thief.

And then.. then i started making characters with over 200 health, to resist fail...
