Lockpicking mechanics (luck)
« on: January 16, 2011, 04:06:26 am »

I searched around the forums but couldn't find an answer.
Does luck affect you chances of a successful lockpicking attempt? If so, by how much? Is there any point in having a character with 300% lockpicking and 1 in luck?
I appreciate all feedback, and if this question has been answered in a previous thread, I apologize.

from what i understand luck does not correlate with lockpick much to be bothered with, just go with 1 luck if you want/need a dumpstat.

I have spoken with surf solar and another gm and they have both told me luck does have an effect on lockpicking although how much I am not sure.

This is coming from a 300 LP alt with ext lockpicks and still couldn't open some lockers in Da Glow.

Thanks for the feedback. Just wanted to know how much of an effect it has. Seems like a waste to make an alt that only focuses on lockpicking and ends up not even being proficient at THAT.

Seriously i think devs should provide some info, at least about S.P.E.C.I.A.L. I mean, how am i supposed to create a good character, when i dont know, how there atributes affet my character?

It's all just rummors and guessing. And people who know the answers wont tell, because "The Wasteland is Harsh!"

Do i really have to create 2 thieves with 1LK and 10LK to know the difference? And imagine how people who never player Fallout must feel.

Consider it as a part of the beta testing process, not a chore.

So true Reginmund.

And over this point, dont hope too much info about how Luck works in the game.
Simply because been "mysterious" is a major part of Luck management.

Well, I guess it's a 10 luck character for me. Thank you for all your help!

We would provide better suggestions regarding the beta if they would provide us exact info like SPECIAL and crit tables, etc.

Hm... About Beta.
The purpose is not having suggestions on "how it will work in players mind", but feedback with current mechanic choice.

well, we can't say if the current mechanic is working if we don't know how it SHOULD be working

We just have to report what happend ans the context, as already done here about Glow containers.
The kind of test you are talking about is generaly reserved to closed-beta tester.
