NOTE: Please don't call me noob or something like that, it's just silly.
Don't get me wrong I love this game but I get mad at it some times, and something you worked so hard for gets ruined

NOTE: Dont come and say the wastland is harash and hard, I know it is like that but it wont help me.

This game is so hard, you stand shoveling shit a hole day until you can buy a shotgun... I love the feeling when I have a shotgun in my hand :D
I also mined for my ammo, thats a fun thing and quiet easy :)
Then I go out hunting radscorpions and brahmins to get a telt, I tought to my self this game is great ^^
Ofcource I got killed by PK's by this time MANY times, but I accepted that, it's a harash game after all I tought.
When I got my tent the game REALLY started, it all became fun for a moment, I got killed by some player killers but I survived it.
Then I got "bigger" and "bigger" weapons, but when I was going to trade thiefs were all around me stealing everything, all you admins and scripters out there,,,,
what the hell were you thinking of, it sucks!
So a great time, got killed by PK's all the time and lose my stuff to some thiefs, witch is like 90% of NCR.
But I did not freak out and posted a topic just cause this, it was one thing that just crossed the border...
A pk'er/tent follower followed me to my tent, and I did not know...

He told me that if I follow him he take the things back, I said: Then you just take everything!

HOWEVER, please scripters and admins... do something about the PK's EXAMPLE: if there is more than 3 levels between they can't encounter and you should be asked if you want somebody to follow you... this is only in my dreams I guess.
Please think after you type anything, remember I was mad and had a bad day when I wrote this, even IRL.... heh.

Dude I know it's so frustrating. NCR is so full of freaking theives and tent followers. I was playing there last night, I am only level 4, and there must have been at least 5 theives just milling around in the open, openly stealing from everyone, and the Guards, and players could not do shit about it. I mean seriously, either they were highly skilled or the NPC's are highly retarded, because in a couple hours time, they robbed more than a few people blind, and I only saw a couple get shot for it. Yet they kept coming back to steal more, and I am sure they were probably making out like bandits.
Best thing I did was leave NCR and found a new base near Junk, screw NCR and all those theives, they are lazy fucks who have it way too easy. I dont know why the Devs make it so easy to steal, after getting caught once they shouldnt be allowed back in the city for a long long time.

I hate to say this but now you can only blame yourself. 1st time to get tent-followed is ok, second in the borderline but third is too much. Average players of our game learn from first time when they encounter some newb-unfriendly surprise.

JK! Here's a tip, play smart and take no risks. Trust no one. Lastly, gather all broc flowers and xander roots. They grow in the ground around the wasteland and with 40 first aid you can make weak healing powders. The cost of xander root and broc flower in merchant is 1 cap, but weak healing powder is worth 40 caps. If you make 100 healing powders, you get 800 xp and you can make 4k caps off them. Extremely easy money :)

It's easy to say that, but I admit I got followed two times and the first time, I didnt know what I was doing, and accidentally made the doucebag my leader, after which he proceeded to lead me out to the wastes, shoot me, and take my shit, which taught me a lesson to say the least.
Next time I got followed I figured out how to boot the dude from my goup.
But, I also admit that there have been several times when I went to my base and thought to myself, "did I check to make sure I wasnt followed?", and I honestly could not remember. Sometimes I just get too busy doing other shit, and wonder if I failed to notice.
There should be a check, a popup like the one you get when your prompted to follow someone. It only be realistic and save a lot of heartache.

The problem with the popup would be that it would delay the leave when transporting big gang. When you need to leave the map as fast as possible, with 8 people on you it would slow it significantly.

The popup could appear once you're in worldmap and going to choose your travelling destination.

My god Viktor stop your crying. I am a total noob and having a hard time too. But thats the reason I like it. Since this is the first time I've heard the phrase tent following, I am guessing that someone tagged them self to you and you took them to your tent? I don't have a tent yet so I am not sure how it works but sounds like your hanging out in the wrong city anyways.
For gods sake devs don't remove stealing or tent followers. This game is as blood thirsty as early UO and I love it so far and have missed it for a long time. I just started playing last week, having a blast so far, still running around clueless and my char probably sux but so what haha.

From me, you need someone who you can trust. And I'm not talking about "friends" form this game, because 90% of population of FOnline will take all your stuff, kill you, shit on your face and laugh. I know it suck. But you need to start to play with some friends. Maybe with friends from school/work, maybe from another game. People you know and you trust. And then play in 3-5 alts party :) No PK will stay alive with you. That should look shortest tutorial for all newbies:
1. Don't start game alone. Find someone who will help you. Even 2 is better than 1!
2. When you start game go to bigger city near your spawn.
3. Earn some money by quests/shoveling and try to rent room.
4. If you got room you got safe place to storage stuff for little time till get 10 hides. If not find place at city when you will leave your stuff(where no one enter or its hard to see it - behind table/plant/bed). More of player even if they find sledgehammer or hatchet/wood/some ores they don't take it because they don't need it.
5. Try to find 10 hides. Shovel shit and buy/ Lvl up a little and hunt it/ ask someone for help. Build tent!
Some rules how to survive at south:
1. If you need to enter town and you got expensive(or any other) item put it into second hand(if you got 2 things put second to first hand.). That would protect you from thiefs a little. Remember that someone can kill you/crip your hand and take stuff anyway(friend of thief/killer will loot you and him before guards).
2. When you are getting out of town always look at party list. There are many followers in this game.
3. Don't use Turn-Base Fight option near cities. Long fights = many people will enter encounter = you got gun, he got gun - you are dead. Stay in encounter as short as you can!
I think i will make new topic about "How to survive at Wastes". :P But lets back to topic. You need to stop play alone and start to play in group. Use voice chats - it will help in communication. Good luck and Kill all PKs at South of Wastes. :) Bye.

So many people are gonna make you feel bad.. Just use your brain most of the time, don't go to 100% unsafe locations/towns, check your party screen.

anyway, there are many ways to start up and make a shit ton of money. 1 way is to make a leader char with 9 ch and 1 luck. Make him a burster char and give him at least 40 fa when you get the chance. You're gonna want to gather xander root and broc flower and turn them into weak healing powders. Sell them at the saloon or the doctor in NCR and make 40 caps per unit. with 9ch you can get mercs which will protect your tent and you cant start tent killing :). This is where you pick up a tent follower and spawn in your tent. He will be surprised to find himself dead at the feet of 5 mercenaries, all wielding miniguns :). OH and for your first char, get outdoorsman skill, very yes pro!

many of my mercenaries offer their level 21 services for mere pennies on the dollar, (48 junk/hour is the lowest we'll go) we do it mostly to gank the half-tarded PK's who like to hunt noobs. nothing better than hunting brahmins with a guy who gets jumped and he's grateful that you were able to save him.
make yourself a radio and get on channel 8023, ask for someone :)

Some key points. There should be a little more protection in the supposed most powerful city in the wastes from thieves. Something that warns a party member has tagged you is not a bad idea. Could just be a pop up or a noise. I do encourage the idea that people more than 3-5 levels higher shouldn't be able to just pop in to an encounter with low level and go oh thanks for your last day or more, worth of work 'Lol I take your stuff, me badas cause I kills you ha!' *Raps moth* <-- (actual quote) Or be dropped in on by said low lvls trying to get to NCR.

This is a game developed on a love/hate relationship. It can make you absolutely crazy and then reward you. However it is a GAME!! For those of you who seem to have trouble reading, let me say that again, it's a GAME.<---- Harsh can be fun but when it's a constant slap back to square one because some noob had a hair in his ass, that pretty much drains all the 'game' out of it.
The freedom of this game is great, but with the complete lack of consequences for people who grief others, it is going to be a rough road polishing it out for a broader group of players.

Could be that since a few more people in game are actually trying to help out new players, Surf has reawakened some of his old compassion lost soo deep in the threads of, 'lol I kill you ha you lose', and 'Wow devs and mods suck ass wish you all were dead this game blows /whine.' Vik I saw a lot of people on here willing to help out and if I ever catch ya when I play I could lend a hand too. All I can say is just keep your head low though cause there still is nothing stopping Noobs in this game from abusing you except luck and your own diligence.

What? Ofcourse "The wasteland is harsh", no doubt, but there is a difference between "Wasteland is harsh" or "User pulling jokes on some newcomer". Ofcourse I shoot people in the face with my normal playing characters when they seem to harm me or just talking crap.
But, this is not an excuse to be an idiot. Be an idot when it comes to new players, visiting the forum and then pulling jokes on them, because "they are newb and you are pr0". I am sick of this mindset.

Surf, if you read his first post, it's mainly grief. He says it himself that he was very very angry. No where does he ask for help, he just expresses his opinions about the game and its "flaws" are obviously bias opinions due to his personal experiences.
Personally, these 'flaws' like thieves in ncr and PKing are FAR from problematic. They help create a very human style of play - far less robotic than other MMOs like Runescape (anyone that has played it, knows how restricting the game is).
OH and it just takes a little common sense to figure out that trading in the middle of a town that doesn't punish thieves is probably not a good idea. Try trading the FLC bank or inner city where players can't wield guns. Players are also a lot less likely to steal from you there.
Also, trusting someone that just tent followed you only to be killed again is your own fault. Don't blame the developers just because you decided to trust a very dishonest person. If you keep falling into player made traps, then you're doing something wrong. Check for V shapes above players heads. That means they are following you. ALSO, check the left side of your world map when you leave town, if there are more names than just your own, you are being followed, so click and hold on their name and select the button that has 3 dudes and an arrow pointing left.
Many of the issues our friend here has, are highly user based - not client or server based. There ARE alternatives to shoveling shit as you may know. Mining is one of them. Another alternative, which I'm sure I've mentioned MANY times, is to make weak healing powders (they sell for 40caps each) from plants that virtually cost nothing.
No one is telling you to leave the game bro, however the game shouldn't be changed just because a single new player has not been able to adapt as well as the rest of us.

Oh we love to help people that ASK for help. This post was pure rage, sure we could help but, there are more mature ways of getting help. Posting in survival guide/game help is a good start.

learn to fight in rt, and farm things worth good exp. thats all i can say. fighting in RT involves regenerating AP without getting hit. if you can master that, you'll find everything else slowly starts to fall into place... or you can stick with TB and keep getting pwnzer8'd by pk's.

Or you can get used to TB and just continue to grow, where in TB all those uber's running around with APs means nothing because they have to use those AP's to walk over to you. Also if you are already in an encounter and a person drops in on it, you get turn priority which means you can run first or shoot first. If you drop in on their encounter it doesn't matter at that point what system you're using. Theirs takes priority.

Lol i saw such a situation in game.
It was three dog as victim and lynch as tent follower.
But... it is SO EASY to start collecting junk and making powders. I don't know who will shovel shit. It's implemented just for atmospheric immersion and lolz

Agreed. Tent robbers can be a problem to novice or unaware player.
But there is the other side of this feature too.
Me and friends of mine keep a special tent to lead these guys into a trap.
When someone of us get followed (he see yellow \/ character above head of follower) he tells us to get prepared.
We take positions in our deserted tent...
Few nervous seconds of waiting and... here they are!
Pew-pew-pew and you feel that DAMN SWEET FEELING OF BLOODY PAYBACK BWAHAHAHAHA!!!... ehm-ehm.
Sometime they bring us valuable loot like metal armors, LSW and other things ;)
We already caught it this way guys named Lynch, Jackpot (3 times :D ) and one russian guy named Стопэ.
More of them are coming fried till crunchy crust with my plasma rifle... just for you ;)
