Title: Shop items #2 solution
Post by: kraskish on May 06, 2010, 10:26:57 pm
As we know there are endless lists when trying to buy something. When we dont look around on the items and look for example for ammo, it could be pain in the ass to find it, sometimes its at the end of the list and you dont make it with your barter or because of a thief.

I propose the following suggestion (I think relatively easy to implement):
>when going to a vendor decided to buy something we would have weapons/armors/ammo sorted, let me visualise this

<go to barter press talk>
"What can I do for you?" (dunno the text srry :) )
"Show me what you got"
"What would you like to see?"
[HERE a list opens]
-show me everything
-small guns
- big guns
- armor
- ammo
- miscellanous

You press the category of the item you want to see or everything. Once pressed the specific category you see all the items belonging to the group. This way people against this shop burden and also against vendor auto repair would be happy. WHAT DO YA SAY?

I mentioned this solution a long while ago in a "fix shops" thread but people didn't seem interested.

It's a nice idea provided that the engine supports multiple inventories per single NPC.

It will be awesome if you have this dialog choice if you have a high value of barter (eg 150 +) so a high barter skill give a good advantage (less real time used), and make who don't have it cry more ( camon pk scum, hate my merchant char more and more ;) )

YES! Totally agree, it would make the barter more useful than it is now...

Ok, so what about the shelve system as in Fallout 2 (NCR and SF) where you clicked on a table then merchant began to speak to you... :o

That would be good. Each shelf/table=different goods. Anyway this trader situation sucks and it really needs some changes.

Good one. Really. Made me smile, knowing how rubbish are energy weapons compared to SG/BG using .223 ammo(-20 AC, -20 DR) on any metal + armored guy hehe
