So there is one faction "slavers" which is only partially a npc driven faction, since while you are slaver you can be in another faction too. Well with same idea i suggest to make one more faction Junktown scouts. What will they do? Well since slavers enslave people, scouts will be taming wild animals! You seen scouts near junktown with their dogs did you ? :> So once you joined scouts, and get the ability to get yourself some pets, what kind of pets can they be? Well i suggest players to be able to catch these: Dogs, Wild Dogs, Wolves, Molerats, Mutated Molerats, small Deathclaws. Of course taming process itself will be using rope same as on brahmins :> And since everything should be pretty clear about the idea i think we can start discussing it and voting in poll :>
-
I'd take out small death claws, maybe even Molerats, as I think it would be a bit ridicolous.
But the idea itself is nice.
Also, stop making humouros options in a poll. They serve no purpose. If you want to make a poll, make it serious, without them.
-
i think that the ida is fine. but in MO molerats are 2 stupid for training. And small defclaws could be interesting.
ofc you have a limit for tammed creatures and u can trade them - that could be my new char really, cuz im not quite active at the moment
-
Whats bad about crazy options in poll ? I like them, they are funny even if I dont choose them.
I like this idea, also why not to have molerats tameable ? I think the inhabitants of Redding would agree with me.
-
there was a perk in F1, "Animal Friendly" or something. Maybe creating new profession isnt needed, and player would be able to taim animals after picking that perk.

Nah, deathclaws are intelligent enough to be tammed :> And at least in f2 there were 2 intelligent molerats that could even talk like humans, so i dont see a problem here neither :>
And these vote options are for those who doesnt give a shit about idea itself, but come to vote to any vote(so i think its better to have these votes in comedy option, than in normal option and then making incorrect results of players opinions), so these votes just should not be counted at all :>

Yeah there is such http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Animal_Friend but as you see it doesnt affect all animals :> And deathclaw is not an animal neither in that perk :>
-
Great idea, even if i usually dont like pokemon ;D
Would be fun to have some dog fights in reno.
Vote yes.
-
I would like to see/bet molerat fight in Junktown. Maybe you need to catch them and sold them as molerat fighters. Maybe you can catch and make your own molerate champion and make money out of it.
-
no, wait, even better, molerat racing, the one that doesn't get killed by noobs(fistfighters&mausers, 1 bullet per participant, no aimed shots, has to be lvl 5 or lower) on the racetrack wins.
-
Agree provided that they will be like animals in the game. Also taming a deathclaw should be more difficult lets say 80% of outdoorsman
-
It has been suggested several times already and with no result what so ever. But I think its a good idea. At first I would have stayed near the ground and made only dogs/wolves and geckons tamable since imho these are only creatures that fit for this. Everything else seems just too wild or too "stupid" to be tamed. Mole+rat+radiation does not give you friendly pet but those lizards seem like kinda intelligent and promising creatures for this (something like wasteland dolphins with foots and claws).
Anyway main problem is whenether to make pets one life companions = once they die you have to tame another one. Or introduce some training/learning/level scale for them with possibility to get your pet back in the action in the same shape as it been before dieing. As said before its not new suggestion so some nice ideas about this are already posted somwhere on this forum.

have you seen a talking lizard ? i guess no, but i have sure seen 2 talking molerats so i guess they are more clever :> And dont forget that creature doesnt have to be clever as fuck to be tammed :>

No. It would be too unrealistic. You want an animal catch it like a hunter, no animal gods please :D.

same idea on me :>
-
have you seen a talking lizard ?
Fallout 2, Vault 13.
-
deathclaws aint lizzards :/
-
Druids lol!
There's really nothing to be against this suggestion because it's just matter of taste.
-
LoL, Beastmasters.
I like the idea, but I'm for include Molerats in taming and exclude Deathclaw 'cause they are not really animals.
Maybe it can depend on Outdoorsman skill, like Brahmin taming?

in fallout 2 melichior tamed 2 deathclaws in military base, if stupid mutant can do that beastmasters sure can do that too :>
-
I think Melchior "summoned" them, cause he's sort of wizard-parody and throwed something in the acid
-
what the heck! lets make wizards instead of beastmasters! :d
-
My statement is confirmed from wikia :)
"Whether he masterminded the rebellion against the Enclave slave masters is not known, but his magician skills were almost certainly used to accumulate and hide weapons, even though as a human his were limited to pulling rats out of a hat."

Yeah like FOnline is all about being realistic with unlootable stuff, imaginary barriers that prevent you to hit the rock more than 5 times in a row etc etc...
As said its matter of personal taste but I think when deciding what should and what should not be tamable then creatures nature should decide whenether it will let you to tame it or not. Sure you could train yourself even a dragon if you find a nest and steal some eggs and all that shit but some creatures (strongest ones) should remain out of players reach as something what you can only dream about (and maybe in later versions accomplish through repeatable quests maybe). Anyway I would love this to be feature that gives scouts or beastmasters chance to train their own pets, name them, level them up, feed them etc. Leave it up to player to choose wheneither he want to focus on 1 companion and make him strong or tame 3 and train them as a pack. If this end up being simple feature like skill decides what you can/can't tame and your pets would work like slaves then it would be disappointment for me since this idea has such insanely huge potential that settling with "rope->tame->fight/die->rope->tame..." seems like a crime to me.
-
I'm all for taming dogs, but deathclaws shouldn't be an option, you can't train a lizard.
-
@ those who say, molerats and/or deathclaws talk - I checked some wiki databases and it said Enclave actually did mess with their brains so their intelligence would be enough high to talk like an 8 year old or some could even talk like mature humans. Interesting tho.

Well sure but that does not cover whole species. Its like minority of them that are modified this way. And what makes you think that like-8-year-old-child-minded-deathclaw would not tear you apart anyway? :D Simply you can't touch this! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2c4L4CPfQY8) Powerful beasts should be tamable only in stories that old beastmasters tell their children about. Once upon a time there was mighty Deathclaw Makto that brought all tribes together to fight evul capitalism... But rope, your hands and a kind word shouldn't be enough for some creatures.

they should be clever enough to understand who their master is :D
and sius small deathclaws have like 50 hp and they are shit not powerful beasts thats why i added them and only them from deathclaw kind :> Same with mutated or normal molerats they wont be tough partners but still some fun to the game :> Slaves are not tough neither.
-
deathclaws aint lizzards :/
They are. Mutated chamaeleons. ;)
Also, that crap with talking animals etc. was a thing which was horribly ridicilous. One of the few things I really hate about this game.
-
Its not about beast power. Even centaurs, floaters, stalkers, deathclaws, aliens are still kinda lame compared to players. But its animals nature and some kind of respect for them that tells me I would not like them to be tamable (even tho it sounds cool). Anyway I still think that fire geckos are the most badass animal FOnline has and having one of them as my pets would be nothing but awesome but still I would rather settle with golden gecko than see such creature following orders from players.

Experiments to increase intelligence totally fit in with the 50's sci fi aspect of fallout, but people forget this was an isolated case. That's like saying because transformers can turn into cars all cars can turn into transformers.

The thing with the deathclaws is just an example. Remember King Kah'rat (if I remember the name correct), or the Molerat "God" in Gecko? That was just totally out of place.
-
xarn the clever deathclaw same as goris should be alive and duplicate anyway :D lets get their children! and anyway its not about reality, cause this game is not about reality anyway. Neither f1, f2 neither fonline. You wont craft laser weapons without energy source etc. So lets just make game enjoyable and of course then enjoy it :> And in my opinion taming animals could help :>
-
Radiation in fallout has magical early scifi characteristics, pretty much the same logic behind the ninja turtles or the hulk. Personally i loved the boss chars like that, I wish there had been more of them. My name is taken from the giant roach boss in fot. Also goris was male, how do you want him to lay eggs? Deathclaws have a "queen" afaik.
-
In the end, it's all about a matter of taste wether if this should be ok, or ridicolous. ;)
If you look from FO1 to FO2 they just added too much of ridicoulos stuff to it, it's more a matter of "authencity" if you ask me.
For talking animals and stuff like that I already know a few opinions from devs, though. ;)

none of us asked animals to talk. But even now people live with bears, dogs, wolves, lizards etc in home. So still dont see a point in "cant be tamed cause he cant talk" thing :>
-
Couldn't you talk to animals if you had 1 int?
-
Couldn't you talk to animals if you had 1 int?
I have an idea! People with 1 INT wouldnt be able to speak with humans and would get back to the nature! frolicking around with their equally clever friends! 1 INT - 1 pet xD
-
i think to be able to talk to animals you would need to have more then 10 IN not to be dumb as fuck :/
-
The whole jokes was you'd be stupid enough to understand cows and moo back at them, intelligent people wouldn't bother trying to moo at a cow. Also there's a huge difference between having a pet lizard and trying to train a giant one. Pet lizards are never trained, they just don't do much so it's not an issue.
-
i voted yes. i want a dogmeat fighting with me. and maybe "mole dogs" and "mole wolves" are good choices.
-
Seriously this is a great idea, I mean, they're not even that strong so its not like its gonna be OP. But of course implementing an entirely new faction would be kinda hard I suppose.
-
Wow its like pokemons::) Catch them all!!! great idea but i would suggest adding centaurs, deathclawas, desert stalkers to tamable creatures, and maybe 250 outdorsman to catch them, and ofcourse charisma to control them, new profesion with 3 lvls, on lvl 1 you are able to catch molerats and dogs,on higher lvls you can catch stronger creatures

this is wrong, this suggestion is alternative for slaving, and slaves are weaker then mercs, so these creatures you could tam should be weaker them mercs too of course. And this is not profession.

Meh.. Scout usually means to physically go out and see whatever there is to see, then report back. Has no real correlation to animals.

Junktown Scouts have doggies with them :D
-
What you guys don't understand - How the hell can you tame a talking animal.
Live example:
Vedaras:'' Hello death claw''
Death claw:'' Hi vedaras, how your doin?''
Vedaras:'' Ah just doing shit, just became a scout''
Death claw:'' Cool! You probably know alot of animals and the surroundings''
Vedaras:'' Yes I do, and guess what the scout master said to me? He said that I can tame some wild animals, THAT'S WHY I'M GONNA TAME YOU!''
Death claw:'' First- I'm not wild animal, I belong to Enclave as they made me talk, I just escaped. Second- Fock you!''
Vedaras Own was critically hit for 999 hit points, had it's armor by passed, knocked out, knocked down, injured and killed.
Vedaras:'' ...:<...''
True, not every death claw escaped from Enclave, some of them went to Vault 13, some were killed on spot.

Yes, because Dogs are good hunting animals. I don't see how you can tame a lizard, it has no intelligence whatsoever. OP said something about humans living with lizards, so why can't we tame them?
Because lizards live in cages.

tribals have no intelligence too, same as dogs dont, same as many other critters dont, i want to repeat once again, that you dont need to be superior clever to understand who is your master and who you need to serve.

I like this idea, but i think that there have to be another purpose of this domesticated animals than another type of NPC combat help.
Selling domesticated brahmins to another players.
Dogs trained to special purpose : anti thief, path finder (bonus to outdoorsman), enemy finder,...
Also in some cities, there should not be allowed to enter with death claws or another type of dangerous animals...
-
Ooh, anti-thief dogs... me likey.
Only problem is, when your dog attacks someone for stealing from you in NCR, does it get gunned down... and also, do YOU!?
Maybe he should just bark when someone tries stealing, eh?
