So, the formula for the amount of merc/slave followers is Charisma -1/2.
This means that you can carry 4 slavers at 9 charisma. However there is a perk called Magnetic Personality which gives you an extra slot for a merc/slave/player.
This means that with 9 charisma and the Magnetic Personality perk you can carry a stunning total of 5 mercs/slaves. However here comes the problem.
Somoene with 10 charisma cannot take the Magnetic Personality, this means that he will be stuck at 4 slaves/mercs. This means that it is actually more benefitial to take 9 charisma instead of 10, while 10 IS supposed to be better. This is something that should be fixed.
I have 2 possible suggestions for this:
1. Give people with 10 charisma the ability to take the Magnetic Personality perk.
2. Increase the amount of merc/slave followers for people with 10 charisma to 5.

9 cha gives you 3 mercs not 5. The only way to get 5 mercs is if you take magnetic personality at 9 cha then take gain charisma. Merc aren't terrible by any stretch, I'd rather have 4 mercs than 4 players with me. Hell you don't even have to worry about gridcampers as you shoot just as fast or faster when entering towns.

9-1 = 8/2 = 4. With the Magnetic Personality perk this becomes 5.

Yes, Ch 10 should have access to MP. Bit of an oversight that they don't.

so will admins you do anything about this problem? It should be an easy fix and 2 possible solutions already suggested, but time passes and nothing is being done :/

Some quests require 4 or 7 ch. I think you need 3 just to talk to npcs though.

And x2 mentats to get 7 CH for all quests.
But really I only once used x2 mentats (after wipe) to get max. effect from Mordino family quest.

Already have a proposed Ch-limit change internally, but its waiting for a later date to be done.

How about F2 style followers? Ones you don't have to pay for/that level up?

What if you have 8 charisma and get magnetic personality, will you still be able to have 5 mercs?

Am I the only one who thinks that being able to get more than 1 merc is not right?

I think it's okay to get more than one merc. I think it's even fair to make your whole group of mercs because some players prefer to play with AI helpers, where they can roleplay more than with other players who usually act immature :/ It's the same thing as having some clan or group of players you go with, they're just AI.

also mercs are prohibitively expensive, most people use slaves which are useless unless you have a bunch.

But absolutely worth it if: ( this goes for mercs only )
1. You know how to use them.
2. You have a leader and/or slaver build.
3. Have at least one. ( lol )
4. Only purchase the melee ones and like.. give them shotguns.
5. Don't foolishly get them killed by making it to where they are standing in an entrance in a gaurded town. ( Like i have done several times.. :'( )

I know about this problem for sometime I think even said in some other post.
10 should be able take the perk,
the other fix making 10 get 5th follower well don't seem right in way.
10 needs get something extra over 9 but not sure if follower would be right.

10 cha has a lot of benefits like free vc membership and cheaper mats for joining enclave, but granted those can be gained from mentats.

Both can be get with 9 CHA (enlave SEC and VC citizenship) without any drugs.
