Title: New Profession
Post by: Gimper on January 15, 2013, 10:04:09 pm
I suggest a new profession - Engineer
You can craft place-able weaponry and sentries, Anywhere from basic Minigun turrets, to the mighty Gatling laser turret (with high enough skill). Requirements for profession,
Engineer 1 - Science 100%, Repair 100%, Big Guns 150%
Engineer 2 - Science 125%, Repair 125%, Energy Weapons 150%

Engineer 1
Craftable Weaponry,

Minigun Turret - 2x Miniguns(Any Condition), 5x Electronic parts, 10x Metal parts, 10x Alloys.

Avenger Minigun Turret (Blueprint required) - 2x Avengers(Any Condition), 6x HQ alloys, 8x Electronic parts, 8x Good Metal parts, 10x Metal parts, 12x Alloys.

Engineer 2 Craftable Weaponry,

Laser/Plasma Pistol Turret - 2x (100/100%) Laser/Plasma Pistol, 2x HQ alloys, 4x Good Metal Parts, 8x Electronic parts, 10x Metal parts, 10x Alloys.

Laser/Plasma Rifle Turret - 2x (100/100%) Laser/Plasma Rifle, 5x HQ alloys, 5x Good metal parts, 12x Electronic parts, 12x alloys, 14x metal parts.

Gatling Laser Turret (Blueprint Required) - 2x Gatling Laser (Any Condition), 5x HQ electric parts, 10x HQ alloys, 10x Good metal parts, 12x alloys, 20x Electronic Parts, 20x Metal parts.

Also, make only the Engineer who built the Turret the only one able to "program" it.
Another thing, maybe make the engineer able to do this suggestion. http://fodev.net/forum/index.php/topic,27193.0.html

Give me Opinions.

Two more alts, geez.
Not bad idea at all, but what for would be used those turrets, mercenaries are far better.

The trade off would be, you can repair turrets when broke/killed. mercenaries need payment, and they can die forever, where as turrets can just be repaired and don't have loyalty.

having 4 gatling turrets[8 gatlings] in front of my outpost or better camping the gate from inside sounds pretty cool, but i believe such weaponry is almost "unrushable" through narrow gate. i would suggest to craft it from only 100/100 weapons

Why would you want to guard a base, there will never be a armored group at your gate.
This is obsolete.

i just heard about such "event" few days ago, but yeah you are right, i dont share bases to anyone so it works even better than 8 gatlings at the door.

you cant find 100/100 avengers and only 100/100 gatlings from special encounters. I already thought that out. only 100/100 guns should be used for common turrets like plasma and laser ones.

ofc gatlings are available only from bomb shelter, what would ensure rarenes of gatling turrets :)(i have 10x100/100% gatlings but psssst!), also 100/100 avengers are available in game, guess where?!
what agan makes such powerful turrets pretty rare. for other turrets it would be normal to just craft two weapons before you craft turret itself

This suggestion sounds fun. I would love to craft a bunch of turrets to set up defense parameters in town control :D Would be interesting challenge to go in as the first setup a town defense system!

The glow, but only spawn if you have the right build and are in there at the right time. You also need to eat a TV dinner before lockpicking a locker with a 169LP alt.

I know I know, they always have some strange weapons that have 0 connection to their skills.I once found an Ew one who had a grease gun, dynamite stick and a knife in his inventory.

Back to the point, Turrets can be useful during town control. It can take an engineering cool down to place them, 30 seconds maybe, after each placement or pick-up. Limit the usage of turrets per town. Maybe 1 Big turret, and 2 rifle/pistol turret?
